~First to comment~
Wow, that’s quite the pick up line.
I’ll try that sometime.
If I really, REALLY don’t want to succeed.
Haha, I guess it fits the context though.
May 4th, 2007 at 9:58 pm
Aw, that’s the sweetest thing anyone could say to a girl. ;-;
May 4th, 2007 at 10:23 pm
ya cept its still a little bit wierd cause hes talking about her blood
May 4th, 2007 at 10:29 pm
HE’S GRABBING BOOB IN THE LAST PANAL!
“Ah yes, a one way ticket to boob-town…population 2.”
“Woah, woah, woah! You don’t get to go in to boob town! That’s a gated community!”
May 4th, 2007 at 10:30 pm
That’s about as sweet as a serial killer can get
(note: if I were her and wanted to keep aforementioned sweet blood, I’d get out of there as soon as my spindly human legs can take me)
May 4th, 2007 at 10:37 pm
“HE’S GRABBING BOOB IN THE LAST PANAL!”
He’s supposed to be gently placing his hand over her heart, admiring the blood flow, but it didn’t come off quite right.
“if I were her and wanted to keep aforementioned sweet blood, I’d get out of there as soon as my spindly human legs can take me”
Well, keep in mind that if he kills her he’d be killing himself basically. Each human’s life is extremely precious to him — needs that continual supply of blood. If the vampires were going to kill them, they would have done it right after they arrived.
May 4th, 2007 at 11:00 pm
Haha, he’s layin’ it on pretty thick.
May 4th, 2007 at 11:27 pm
She is soooo screwed.
May 5th, 2007 at 1:24 am
So he should hide from her the hact that he is a scary dude? Heck no. In this situation the fact that he is so scary is actually a benefit - because he’s on her side.
She seems to be a pretty smart cookie, so most likely she has realized by now that he is deliberately laying it on thick. Her long term reactions to him will be more complex but for now at least I think she likes him.
And of course since he’s a vampire he’s automatically a ‘bad boy’, and we all know that the ‘bad boys’ get the girls.
May 5th, 2007 at 1:38 am
About finding you a Muse (see last page comments):
I think one already found you.
That sharp poke you feel way deep down saying “Write something Damnit!”? That’s your Muse. Just in your case she is using uncomfortably pointy things instead of whispering seductively in your ear.
Nobody I ever ran across said Muses have to be nice about it…
May 5th, 2007 at 2:01 am
The script read like this;
“Panel 7: My thinking for this panel is that it’s kind of from over Math’s shoulder as he reaches a hand out and places it on the middle of April’s chest, right between her breasts, just kind of lovingly admiring the flow of blood from her heart — and her tits! So we probably can’t see his expression, but if we do, it should be basically neutral, just a hungry look in his eyes (which we probably won’t see and that’s fine). We should probably see April’s face, and she should look mostly neutral as well (definitely not smiling) — maybe just very slightly shocked, taken aback. She should be looking at Math (not down at his hand on her chest) — just looking in the direction of his face. Maybe her mouth open slightly, but not too dramatic of an expression at all — she’s still trying to take it all in. ”
I did my best, I didn’t have much space. I apologize.
May 5th, 2007 at 2:09 am
No need to apologize.
By the way, in response to some of the comments, I actually don’t think Math is laying it on too thick. I think he just REALLY LOVES BLOOD. Likes the girl too, though.
May 5th, 2007 at 2:57 am
Perfect!!! Like this comic so much.
Pretty creepy, the hole thing about blood. , but he he’s a vampire.
May 5th, 2007 at 3:01 am
“its perfection”
That line just reminds me of Friends, the one where Chandler is stuck in the bank vestibule with the model and says “gum would be perfection” LOL I really don’t see Math as a fumbling idiot so foe me that line is WAY out of place.
May 5th, 2007 at 3:06 am
Hmm. Not a “fumbling idiot” type line. He’s just loving everything about blood, the thing he needs to live, and he thinks that process is perfection. He’s also thinking about how there’s so little blood left in the world and how it will probably all be gone soon. He’s barely even noticing that April’s there. He could almost be saying this same stuff to Mustache Man, really, but it helps that it’s a hot lady. It’s supposed to be a quiet, sad moment, really, which also brings the characters closer together, though.
May 5th, 2007 at 4:57 am
“It’s supposed to be a quiet, sad moment, really, which also brings the characters closer together, though.”
I can see it. It seems like a mutual desire for the blood as well as April. It’s kind of a romantic moment, but not a cheesy romantic moment. One that fits really well.
Oh and BTW Owen, might I say that the drawing of Math in panel 6 is total hottness.
May 5th, 2007 at 5:22 am
I just realized… There’s all this talk about what vampires need to eat to survive, like gatorade…
what are the normal un-vampired humans eating? When do they eat? DO they eat? You’d think Math would be stuffing food down their throats, going down to mcdonald’s and getting it running himself so he can gravy up everybody’s blood.
mmmm, mcdonald’s-blood.
May 5th, 2007 at 5:28 am
I think that April either has some sick plan or just acts weird ;p
I want to see more MAC!!! Macabre! Maction! *groar* When will he be in sight again?
May 5th, 2007 at 6:09 am
Wow, that’s a lot more smooth than, “Well, here’s my bed”
May 5th, 2007 at 6:47 am
Hooo boy, Math is a stuuuuuud.
May 5th, 2007 at 8:28 am
Well, if your food supply is running dangerously low (and maybe a bit stale, if you compare a bottle of blood to a body of blood), and then you find yourself laying down close to a nice hot looking body filled with untainted blood (pure isn’t the same as she being innocent, but more of it being healthy, no bad mixtures), then… yes, it makes perfect sense for him to just drool over it.
Of course, Math is too composed to do that… he just quietly enjoys it (kind of that “chocolate melting in your mouth” I mentioned on my last post). Speccialy because he is fully aware of the fragility of… the food chain. It might be his last change to experience it (if you’re really pessimistic)!
As for the last panel, I never thought of him “grabbing” anything… he’s just touching her gently with his fingers.
I like it. All of it!!
May 5th, 2007 at 10:43 am
I really like the artwork!
Mac looks so weary in the second panel and then dreamy almost wistful in the 6th when he’s talking about her blood. Something wonderful not quite in reach when you’re weary and aching didn’t strike me as personal or a line.
IMO April is still trying to suss the vampires out. There’s a connection between the two part recognition of their situation two intelligent beings surving and maybe part attraction.
I like her expression in the 7th panel not a quick grab a stake look but wide eyed like she’s getting a peek inside Mac’s head and isn’t sure how to react.
Anyhow that’s my take of it. Enjoying it so far, good work guys.
May 5th, 2007 at 11:10 am
Hunger makes Math poetic, cool.
Its also interesting how they both start lying down on the bed next to each other without either of them really mentioning it. Unspoken words or something like that. A touching sort of moment.
I just picked up a copy of Last Blood from the local comic shop, pure sweetness. And really good is that it has no advertisments like so many of the others. Used some sort of thin parchment like paper for a material rather than thinner standard paper too. Very cool, goes in sleeve. Good work on it.
May 5th, 2007 at 11:41 am
Awesome, Chris! I’m heading to the Golden Apple signing now. Also, to anyone who gets the Free Comic Book Day LB book today, make sure to tell the shop owner to order LB #2! It’s in PREVIEWS right now.
May 5th, 2007 at 12:39 pm
Thanks for the good stuff, I found you through Free Comic Day.
May 5th, 2007 at 3:19 pm
If thats a complement im not shure if I want it. XD
May 5th, 2007 at 7:02 pm
awesome
May 5th, 2007 at 7:03 pm
awesome, very good nice comic
May 5th, 2007 at 7:13 pm
Okay, just picked up my free copy today. I really like it and think it’s well done. Stupid question coming…these new pages…are they going to be in #2 edition that’s being published in July? I’ve read all the pages and they obviously seem to be the continuation of my copy of #1. Thanks for any reply and keep it going!
May 5th, 2007 at 7:36 pm
Just wanted you guys to know I was so looking forward to your comic on free comic day… Unfortunately I was stuck working 14 hours. I even bribed a friend to go out and get it for me, and the comic shops said they ran out by the time she got there. I thought you would like to know this for two reasons; First, it went fast ^.^. Second, you had a fan bribing her friend with money to go out and get it. Hope it happens again and I can catch it, and keep up the amazing work!!!!
May 5th, 2007 at 7:49 pm
I just picked the freebie up today from my local comic book store– this story is awesome and I’m really looking forward to getting the next issue! I special ordered another comic, so when I pick it up, I’ll be sure to request it.
May 5th, 2007 at 8:21 pm
dragonhouse: Yes, these new pages will be in the second issue! Issue #2 prints pages 33-56.
Kelly, I’m sorry you didn’t get the book, but that’s awesome how you tried so hard to get it and that they went fast. What state are you in? E-mail me your address and I’ll send you a signed copy for free.

Welcome to Rena and Gideon and all the other new people from FCBD!
May 5th, 2007 at 8:23 pm
I just had to say, that is at the same time the creepiest and the sweetest thing you can say to a girl.
May 5th, 2007 at 9:01 pm
I used that pick up line on my ex…. the rest of the story writes itself from there….
May 5th, 2007 at 9:52 pm
I met Bobby Crosby.
I shook his hand.
Ha ha, suckas.
May 5th, 2007 at 9:52 pm
Oh yes, I met Mac and shoot his hand too. XD
May 5th, 2007 at 9:53 pm
*shoot = shook
Sorry about posting three times…!
May 5th, 2007 at 9:59 pm
Lydia was cool. She hung around the store for a long time, asking many questions. I gave her all the major spoilers for the end of the first graphic novel and the full plots for the sequels and prequels. (No, I didn’t. But I did tell Mac those things.) I also met Mac’s girlfriend, who looks a lot like Devian!
May 6th, 2007 at 10:56 am
i am pissed yesterday at my local comic store they didnt have last blood it was the first comic i looked for the owner said he didnt get any copies i so wanted one and i still do. my comics selection was going ot be wolfman which i got and subscribed to cause its awesome then i got a spiderman comic and was going ot be last blood. i even drove down to dover to look for it and they didnt have it either which SUCKED. this strip is rather foreboarding math and the girl in the bed .
May 6th, 2007 at 11:18 am
At my local comic store they told me Last Blood was gone in the first 30 minutes! So it’s pretty popular over here in NY. Initially, I was pretty upset since that was the main reason I went there. But then some of the guys found an extra copy lying around and gave the last copy to me. Probably because I’m of the female persuasion, and I seemed bummed out.
May 6th, 2007 at 11:26 am
Awesome, AD! It was probably one of their own personal copies.
I’ve heard similar reports, including at Golden Apple yesterday about the other Golden Apple location (LB books flew off the shelves, gone almost immediately).
May 6th, 2007 at 3:22 pm
Hey, just wanted to let you know, I am happily taking you up on the offer! Been reading you since you started and I have been looking forward to this comic! You guys are doing great!
May 7th, 2007 at 2:11 am
This is my favorite page so far. In my head it basically plays out as.
Math: “Yumyum, blood. Yessir I sure do love me some normal human blood. I likes drinking it out of people, yes I do… Hey! You’re full of blood, I can smell it! And this boob here, this is full of sweet, sweet blood too! I can see it! In your boob!”
April: He keeps talking about my blood and professing a desire to drink blood but logically he won’t drink my blood because it would be self-defeating in the long run so I’ll just stay here with him all by myself and see what he does with my blood.
Sorry, I know that’s not the intent of the page but it’s pretty funny.
May 7th, 2007 at 2:51 am
April’s expresion in the last panel gives me the giggles. “uhhhhh… okaaaayyy wtf do i say to THAT???” hahaha
May 7th, 2007 at 3:09 am
Okay, I’ll admit, I didn’t exactly try to get a copy of the comic. I wanted to, but between a simple lack of way to get to the local comic book place which probably wouldn’t have had it since it never has -anything-, and me being, well, lazy…
I’ll stick with the online comic. Half the fun is posting on here anyhow.
May 7th, 2007 at 3:12 am
If the published comic isn’t a big success, the online comic will probably end at around page 104 (when the graphic novel is done), but if the published “Last Blood” is a hit series, it will continue (online and in print). So even if you’re not gonna go get it, call your local store and tell them to order issue #1 and #2, both of which are in the current PREVIEWS catalog, with ordering deadlines coming up soon (next week, I think).
May 7th, 2007 at 7:07 am
I just want to thank all of you who came down to Golden Apple on Saturday. I really enjoyed hanging out with Bobby signing copies of “Last Blood”.
It was a great experience being around all you comic book enthusiasts and the owners/staff at Golden Apple couldn’t have been nicer or more accommodating. (Special props go out to Lydia for extending her hand).
I’m honored my likeness was used in “Last Blood” and look forward to appearing in the film version early next year.
Thanks again!
May 7th, 2007 at 7:27 am
waaaaaa Barbados doesnt even HAVE comic book stores!!! Do I have to wait till the next time I go to the USA to get one?
May 7th, 2007 at 7:48 am
Well, I got my copy of the FCBD version of LB on Saturday. I’ve been trying to hype this comic in my local shop, and get other more main stream comic book lovers to check you out online..
Keep up the good work - hopefully at the next FCBD, we’ll see copies of Marry Me?? That would be pretty sweet..
May 7th, 2007 at 10:39 am
I spent 3 hours trying to find a comic shop. I used the phone book, google maps, everything I could think of. I just moved here about a month ago, and it kills me that we don’t have any rpg/comic shops around here. Hope you have better luck, Bobby! Loving the comic, always waiting for more, and that’s what I’m busy at right now.
May 7th, 2007 at 12:02 pm
Hey, Mac, great to see a comment from you on here! Thanks again for doing the signing (and for buying me lunch!).
I’ll have a full report on the signing and FCBD in general in the blog post for Page 50, which should go up within seven or eight hours.
“Do I have to wait till the next time I go to the USA to get one?”
You can actually just order them directly from us on the site here and we’ll put up that order page soon (probably later today). I think I might give out a certain number of free ones this week (although you’d have to pay for shipping, especially if you’re outside the U.S.). Get a PayPal account if you don’t have one yet!
Ken: Won’t be a “Marry Me” FCBD book, because the full graphic novel will be long done by then and we want to use FCBD to launch new ongoing series. It might be “Princess Amazia” next year. More info –

Hum, this will likely get buried under there being another page an all but…
Admittedly, I’ve only been skimming the commentary (there a lot!), but I guess I feel that April’s character isn’t completely consistent. I believe it was Mr. Crosby who commented at some point on Val’s appearance being a deliberate foil to April’s, because she is supposed to be more sweet and innocent (correct me if I’m wrong, my memory is terrible). I guess I just don’t see her as the type to sleep with a guy she’s just met, esp. that day :/ (No matter how hot!)
In light of the fact that she’s the cohesive element of the human group and her seemingly sensitive/caring nature, I get the feeling she’d be more wary of how the others would feel about her associating all that closely with Matheson. As seen with Gary, this might alienate her from her little tribe, so to speak. Of course, I guess that doesn’t bother me that much, it’s mostly that she just suddenly seems to have switched gears.
Here is where I’d wax poetic about the gorgeous art and awesome story, but I’m sure you get enough of that
May 8th, 2007 at 1:48 pm
“I guess I just don’t see her as the type to sleep with a guy she’s just met . . .”
What do you mean by “sleep” exactly? All they’re doing is laying down in the same bed and, minor spoiler, April won’t have sex with anyone in the whole graphic novel. I’m not even sure if she’ll kiss anybody.
May 9th, 2007 at 3:31 pm
Alright, that makes me feel better (the spoiler, that is), but it did admittedly look like things were heading elsewhere.
I suppose you’re gunning for the naivete of April not thinking anything would happen, then, and if that is indeed the case, then I must say that I find that quite refreshing
May 9th, 2007 at 3:38 pm
“Alright, that makes me feel better (the spoiler, that is), but it did admittedly look like things were heading elsewhere.”
That was my intention, yes.
“I suppose you’re gunning for the naivete of April not thinking anything would happen . . .”
Well I think she’s just smart and knows what Math said earlier about how the most important thing to the vampires is having April’s support for their mission –
http://www.lastblood.net/main/2007/02/19/page-25-favor/
She trusts him — she HAS to trust him — no other choice. It’s not like they could fight the vampires, and they can’t fight a million zombies either, so they need the vampires’ help. When the most important thing to them is her support, she’s not exactly worried about being pressured into anything. She has the power.
May 10th, 2007 at 12:22 pm
SWEET MERCIFUL PANTS! I completely forgot about FCBD! Why didn’t somebody call me? poop. Well, guess I’ll have to go slog the trough looking for leftover copies.
May 12th, 2007 at 12:47 pm
Panel 6 Math makes me happy! ^_^ And yes, it does look like he’s copping a feel, haha. But I like how you described the look in his eyes as hungry- that makes him seem more “realistic,” and well, vampire-like. You probably get sick of people asking random questions about the vampires, but could April and Math really have a romantic future anyway? I don’t think they’re having a “romantic” moment here, though some people thought that. But they probably couldn’t have like half-vampire babies or something, since it seems like the half-baby would be too weak and genetically confused to survive long, right?
May 12th, 2007 at 12:52 pm
“You probably get sick of people asking random questions about the vampires, but could April and Math really have a romantic future anyway?”
That’s very possible.
“But they probably couldn’t have like half-vampire babies or something, since it seems like the half-baby would be too weak and genetically confused to survive long, right?”
Well, I won’t give a certain major spoiler, but I’ll say that they can have babies.
May 15th, 2007 at 9:53 pm
*Sigh* I really wish there were more than one FCBD. I swear I would’ve gotten a copy if I hadn’t been up 20+ hours moving out of my apartment, and if there was a comic shop that was less than a 30-min drive from my house. Still, I was VERY tempted to check it out, and I hope the fact that I was wanting to drive my lazy, sleep-deprived ass a half hour away to a comic shop that likely didn’t even carry the FCBD Last Blood comic says something about what an awesome comic this is :). Love the story and love the artwork. Please, keep it up!
August 4th, 2007 at 6:14 pm
I just have to say I love that man’s hair.
Um. Vampire’s hair. Whatever.
I love it.
And I really really really really reeeeealllyyyyy wanna read/buy your comic, but I can’t find it anywhere! *tears*
And, um. I can’t order it, for…certain reasons…*cough*
But I think I’m going to hug that vampire for his hair.
…
…Yes, yes I am. *hugs the vampire*
August 12th, 2007 at 9:45 pm
oh my gosh that was like the perfect pick up line that was so sweet
November 30th, 2007 at 7:17 pm
HAWTNESS!!!
And that just about covers it.
December 10th, 2007 at 8:12 pm
THIS IS THE BEST PAGE SO FAR!
April 3rd, 2008 at 1:10 am
Found this as a link on a comic I read, and I’m enjoying it! It’s 2 am and I’ve been reading it (and your comments) for two hours… I should sleep soon.
This is my favorite page so far I think! I love the one-liners throughout and the emotions that come through. You’ve got a unique, very enjoyable story.
Also? Telling a girl her blood smells like perfection is possibly the weirdest come-on ever. Or even the weirdest compliment in recent history.
July 8th, 2008 at 2:19 pm
Math looked sweet in the sixth panel. ^-^ He looked so adorable X3
