First comment, yes! I’m going to the Dodger game now and I expect to see at least 25 comments by the time I get back in about seven hours. I love this page — great job by Owen. I’ll put my sketch up later maybe.
I just recently, last week or so, found this webpage while I was supposed to be working. I must say it’s really good. I definately enjoy it and like your takes on zombies and vampires. And I too hate the man with the glasses. Anyway, uh… 4th comment. Oh yeah, why does the kid sleep on the otherside of the gym away from everyone else?
Wait… last blood #79 in 2014? I want an oompa-loompa NOW… I mean the story… =P Way to keep us on the edge of our seats even with all the minor spoilers. Absolutely delicious artwork. It’s rare that a webcomic takes the time to not only tell a story but tell it beautifully (which is why I love comics in the first place). ::gives artist 400 points::
wow! long time since i’ve posted a comment, but been trying to keep up with the comic as often as possible. awsome page today, i love the direction the story is headed not to mention the artwork. maths face is awsome in panel 2, although i think she would of been a bit more freaked out than that. i love the jumpin over the banister … nice touch.
Oh god. Amazing page. Got me all pysced up to see the next one *starts shaking*
Notice how Murdo has sprung to action so quickly, while Val just…well…yeah. Yay Murdo! Though I have an impending sense of doom about the poor lad.
Awk Jimmy. Poor little Jimmy. So heroic. I hope his mum doesn’t die too. Though I can see it coming. Maybe i’m just in one of those moods in which I foresee everyone’s death? …I just didn’t have the best day haha.
Again, amazing comic. Cheers Bobby and Owen, I do so tip my hat to thee.
Are you joking? Other than the scheduled break we just had, which we announced very early, the comic has missed ONE DAY in five months and that was in early March when I was super sick. Comments like these will really make me not worry at all about the update schedule. People just go crazy over any missed days at all apparently.
“I think i missed any comments referencing this one, do you mean that you’ve planned this comic to go on for another 7 years?”
You’ve missed a lot of comments! If the comic book series is a success, “Last Blood” can go on forever. So call your local comic book shops and tell them to order it right now. #2 and a re-release of #1 comes out in July and the ordering deadline is May 29th for retailers.
Does Rex become a Vampire Dog? Can we call him Dogula?
If Murdo wastes magic putting on pants that fast, I’d love to see him actually use that magical speed on zombie killing. Of course, since the magic answer was, in all likelyhood, sarcasm, I have only one thing to say.
Bobby, you are a punk. =)
Seriously, though, I bet Murdo’s had to get his pants on quickly before. Good looking guy, small town, bored housewives. Now what I mean? Nudge, nudge, wink, wink.
No, I’m pretty much 100 percent sure it was a complaint, although it was of course also a compliment. But you seem to think it was a case of “I wish it updated more than three days a week,” whereas I’m pretty sure it was “Stop missing so many days,” because the guy apparently didn’t read the post where I said we were going to miss many days because of Owen’s trip.
I also wish the updates were more frequent, but only because I enjoy and look forward to the story, not due to any perceived tardiness by the authors! Oh, and I love Val just the way she is, uncaring bitch or no (3rd comment). Hmmm, is Grady just waking to the commotion below, or does he see something else?
Was worth the wait. great job on the artwork Owen. Bobby though, I got a problem with a bit of the dialogue. Now I know its a heavy action page so you don’t have room to go all wordsville on us, but it still doesn’t seem to mesh to me.
Panel 2 for example, April’s face is a nice reaction to super scary Math. But “Whats going on?” doesn’t fit it like “PLEASE JESUS NO DON’T EAT ME!” would. Doesn’t matter how much she believes Math is there to help, its been one day. The response isn’t logic, its instinct. I’m not terribly happy with Val’s “Ugh” but I admit theres not really a better way to express her boredom.
I still love it though and can’t wait for the next one as usual. And I think Grady sees a sea of zombies on the horizon. lets hope he also hears a small jet engine
Grady sees nothing, as I already said. Jet’s not coming for for another 25 pages.
“But ‘Whats going on?’ doesn’t fit it like ‘PLEASE JESUS NO DON’T EAT ME!’ would.”
She just got woken up by lots of gun fire, as Math did, and she wants info on if there are zombies around and if so, where they are and how many kids have been eaten so far and so on. That all happens in half a second. Then Math goes into full on vampire mode after smelling out the situation, and it’s of course a little scary and her instinct is to cover her face, but she has almost zero thoughts of him killing her, and once again, if he does kill her, that’s BETTER than being killed by a zombie, which they think is going to happen FOR SURE anyway, even with the vampires’ help, so who cares if he kills her? She basically KNOWS that he’s on his way towards the gun fire to go help and that he’s not after her. He just GOT UP from having his hand RIGHT NEXT TO HER NECK/CHEST, laying on top of her chest, and he’s in the process of springing backward off the bed. She wants info about what’s going on, so she asks, in a scared voice, scared of the gunfire/zombies, not really of Math.
“I’m not terribly happy with Val’s ‘Ugh’ but I admit theres not really a better way to express her boredom.”
Just a few questions here m’dear, don’t answer if they’re spoilers, kay?
1. Will the zombies here be the final attack that will spread over loads of pages or just a minor attack?
2. Over the next five or so pages, will many die?
3. Where’d you get your inspiration to write this?
And…ok, all other questions have been erased from my mind as I noticed Murdo’s spotted underwear. LOL.
So can’t wait until Last Blood comes out in book form, this is by far my favourite webcomic. Ever. Slowly but surely getting all my vampire fanatic friends into it ^^
“Will the zombies here be the final attack that will spread over loads of pages or just a minor attack?”
“Over the next five or so pages, will many die?”
“Where’d you get your inspiration to write this?”
The whole thing or just this section? My brother and I created the basic idea of vampires protecting humans from zombies when trying to think of movie concepts that we could film cheaply ourselves. I then came up with every other aspect of the story, like the First Zombie and all the characters and everything. Can’t really point to any specific inspiration — just trying to make a good story.
“Bobby, quit letting people pester you into being short tempered!”
Comments like these are more annoying than anything else. Also, it was the Pacific Ocean.
If you have to ask then you haven’t been in the miltary. When I was in basic I could have been dressed in full uniform, prepped, shaved, and in line in around 2-3 minutes. Getting pants back on would be an easy matter in this situatation after his training.
This page brought up an interesting question I’ve been wondering about. The zombies are obviously not interested in killing animals, or at least give them a lower priority on their ‘things to kill’ list than humans.
This implies that TFZ doesn’t direct them to attack animals.
This, to me, implies that vampires cannot live off of animal blood. Is this the case?
Sorry if it’s been answered before…I haven’t read every page of comments yet.

ok ok im sorry, its just that i like the comic a lot! and and not a patient guy :p
Since TFZ can control all the zombies and what not, why aren’t all the zombies firing AK-47′s into the group of people? It seems if they’re intelligent enough to follow other orders, to pry open doors, to even fly planes like you suggested, they could easily do that.

#1: I’ve said MANY times that in order to make them do specific difficult tasks that zombies otherwise wouldn’t be able to do, it takes far more effort and he can’t control very many at once. #2: He has done similar things like that during the the past month. #3: Why not just drop a bomb on the school? #4: If he wanted them all dead, he would have done it ages ago. He can single-handedly kill them all without much of a concern, and he’s been there all day. I’ve also said several times that he’s trying to see what they’re like, that he wants to test them, and that he’s having second thoughts about going through with this and killing his beloved home town and his last surviving relative. #5: I wouldn’t assume that the mission of the zombies in the gym right now is to kill all the humans.
“ok ok im sorry, its just that i like the comic a lot!”
No problem, glad you like it.
“This, to me, implies that vampires cannot live off of animal blood. Is this the case?”
It has been addressed many times, but no problem: No, animal blood is no good to vampires, and the zombies don’t care about it either. Rex is safe.
I’m curious. Is there a standard throughout the industry of what/ how Zombies and Vamps etc can act and what powers they have? Or is it copacetic to grossly change the set standard of Vamps only drinking human blood?
I love how at the beginning of this page, everyone tries to count off their comments and we couldn’t get past the number four. Comic books really do dull your intelligence!
Jk, I bet it was the posting system. I just thought it was amusing.
Poor April, having to wake up to Math in scary mode.
PS, where exactly on the gym walls do they keep the jerseys (or whatever they are that you hinted at) Are they out of sight, or are they not really in the gym for some reason, or was it an artistic decision to help keep the frame from being too cluttered?
Hey, sorry if this has been addressed before, I haven’t had the time to go through all the comments, I was wondering what zombies need to survive. I’m sure TFZ doesn’t care what happens to the zombies and that they’re just tools, but if all humans died, well, we know the vampires would go the way of TFZ, but what would happen to the zombies, would they starve? Just curious.
Also… is there any chance of an FAQ page? I LOVE knowing all the information that you give out, it really shapes the story for me, but I haven’t been able to make the time to weed through all the comments and compliments and whatnot to find the juicy tidbits Either way, thanks!
“but if all humans died, well, we know the vampires would go the way of TFZ”
I think most of them would kill themselves within the first 10 days or so of not having blood, to save themselves 65 years of torture. The First Zombie has plans to stop that from happening, though (wants to capture them all, lock them up).
“but what would happen to the zombies, would they starve?”
No, they can’t starve in this story and they can last a very long time before decomposing (years).
