I get the feelings that Math is going to be done with this rather quickly considering how fast the two vampires took care of 50 zombies. But then there is the question of how everyone will react to Math’s zombie killing spree. Hey, he’s not hurting humans, why complain?
Then Principal Guy can find anything to complain about. ‘We have vampires to protect us by I’m still going to grumble and be suspicious.’ He’s a jerk and I hope he dies before this comic is finished.
June 14th, 2007 at 1:11 am
He will, don’t worry!
June 14th, 2007 at 1:15 am
Yay! *throws confetti*
June 14th, 2007 at 1:20 am
I have a feeling the vampires will need some blood after this little bit of exertion… The humans might not be too happy about that.
June 14th, 2007 at 1:24 am
Minor spoiler: Murdo’s mom died of a heart attack and she has a large supply of blood to give.
June 14th, 2007 at 1:51 am
well, this actually is just a random train of thoughts.
But I cannot see the science-vampire all that holy. he sure as heck has something on his white west.
So, my idea was:
What if The first zombie was something like an experiment? But a rather unwilling one? Or he was unaware of all the consequences? He could have been forced to make a decision, or someone made that decision for him, in which i would place mister science-vampire in the place of someone….
In that case, the hate of the first zombie against the remaining vampires would have a good source of fuel… trapped in the coffin, with nothing more then the picture of the world above him, and nothingf to do….. even if the vampire was peacefull at first, in a few years alone, he would have gone insane.
Well, with that explained, I would seriously like to see a big showoff between the science-vampire and the first zombie. It would make too much sense. The chief of the zombies, with an unnatural hate, representing the ultimate animalistric side of the supernatural, against the best scientific mind of the century? millennia? Well, it would be great.
Well, with that in mind, keep the good work going, and please, just say if I am totally wrong. Nothing more. I don’t like spoilers that reveal too much….
June 14th, 2007 at 1:53 am
“Minor spoiler: Murdo’s mom died of a heart attack and she has a large supply of blood to give.”
Wow, sucks that she didn’t die by zombie but dies from a heart attack. Bad news for Murdo.
Math has that wonderful “pissed off at the universe and I have weapons to deal with it” sort of look in the second panel. Really cool, practically see him growling here. Though the gun and a sword in close quarter combat is probably going to be awkward in the last panel.
June 14th, 2007 at 1:56 am
Baltazaar: Totally wrong, but interesting thoughts. Took me a while to figure out that you were talking about Addison Payne.
June 14th, 2007 at 2:07 am
Oh god, I totally forgot about MM and his predicament. Will it be long before we see him again?
In the first panel my first thought was “OMG PLEASE DON’T BE MURDO”. He and the dead zombie share the same kind of trousers haha.
Wonder what everyone will think about them having to drink Murdo’s mum’s blood? He was on pretty ok terms with the vampires beforehand, and they’re doing a bang up job (pardon the pun) of saving their necks, but still…Rather like in that film where they quarrel over whether it’s morally right to eat their dead comrades to survive.
I’d give ya three thumbs up, but I seem to be one thumb short…
June 14th, 2007 at 2:31 am
Oh man…Oh man, I can’t wait to see this scene in the movie…. its gonna be freakin AWESOME. Math has undead ninja skillz ^_^ Too bad he has a gun tho… I was looking forward to seing him cut a swath into the undead horde using the twin swords
June 14th, 2007 at 5:00 am
Math is Not. Freaking. Happy. Ehehehe, I love it. Unsure if he’s mad ’cause he just killed the mother and son; or ’cause him killing them hurt April; or both, or another reason. Maybe he just hates being woken up? Yeah, my other half looks like that in the mornings. >.>;;
Eheh. Anyway, I saw there was an update and sort of squee-d a bit whilst it loaded. A little bit of happy-flailing occured too. And I was not disappointed! Other than the fact that it’s not for some unexplained reason a ten-page update. xp I’m just gunna attach a drip from the LB server directly into my veins for my fix, ‘kay?
Fan-girl-rambling over… Murdo’s mother being dead but not zombificated isn’t really a spoiler as we already saw her dead and outwardly uninjured. And not shambling around. I still really, really hope Murdo’s okay though. Please be okay Murdo. You rock too much to die.
With that said I’m going to go back to fan-girling over this page. It is awesome. Bobby, Owen- you did a great job portraying Math here.
…Although the angle of the first panel makes April’s breasts look rather large.
June 14th, 2007 at 5:10 am
Just thought a little off topic, but whatever.

How’s the movie going?
Did you already get a cast and all that?
By the way- really like your comic, you’re doing an excellent job and really keeping me interested. Math’s my favorite character
Thanks again for an amazing comic, and keep up the good work
June 14th, 2007 at 5:26 am
Oh, now you just pissed Math off.
June 14th, 2007 at 5:34 am
Poor Math…
I don’t think anyone will begrudge the necessity of it once they have a time to sit down and relax after this latest attack…
I think Murdo would be rather glad his mom died of a heart attack instead of a zombie bite, though… The most horrifying thing at this point would be seeing people they know and love rise up and start attacking them (IE, Jimmy!).
June 14th, 2007 at 6:20 am
Math is here to kick ass and chew bubblegum - and he’s all. out. of. bubblegum.
June 14th, 2007 at 6:37 am
in the last panel the zombies are like…. uh-oh!
June 14th, 2007 at 6:42 am
Is it just me, or does the zombie in panel 5 have a little resemblance to Fairbanks from ST?
June 14th, 2007 at 7:12 am
If that last panel was a poster, I’d buy it and hang it on my wall.
June 14th, 2007 at 7:14 am
wow…..thats one pissed off vampire. time to be running now methinks.
June 14th, 2007 at 9:01 am
Awesome action scene– I can’t wait to see the next page!
And Math is uber-pissed in panel 2– I’m interested in watching him fully unleash his wrath and awesome combat skillz…
June 14th, 2007 at 11:47 am
I don’t think Math appreciated the Zombie’s conversion of Jimmy much.
Oddly, the first thing I thought when going through that was that he was locking them out, but there’s a whole crowd behind him.
Math: Hah! Now you’re locked out!
Zombies: Hi
Math…
But the second to last panel showed otherwise, he’s looking behind him, so he know’s what he’s doing
Math: (Locks door)
Zombies: Awww… we weren’t done yet
Math: Actually, you are

Have April’s boobs gotten bigger over the last few pages or is it just me?
June 14th, 2007 at 2:03 pm
{”Wonder what everyone will think about them having to drink Murdo’s mum’s blood?”}
Euphoria, I think Murdo will have to be restrained or knocked out.
{”Have April’s boobs gotten bigger over the last few pages or is it just me?”}
Corky, April’s boobs have changed size and shape several times. So has hair.
April with longer hair
http://www.lastblood.net/main/2007/03/09/page-32-the-first-zombie/
Math with short hair
http://www.lastblood.net/main/2007/04/02/page-37-attractive/
Drawing of the comic has also changed for the better too. Compare this past strip http://www.lastblood.net/main/2007/02/02/page-18-cute-meet/ to this currant one.
June 14th, 2007 at 2:11 pm
zombies are mindless eating machines and seem to ignore the vampires except to follow in their wake towards the humans the vampires need as food .i doubt the zombies are much of a threat to the vampires unless the “top zombie” directs the minion zombies otherwise .. so it should be a short battle in the hallway … this time ..
June 14th, 2007 at 2:35 pm
Well they’re actually in the gym now, not the hallway. Math just locked all the zombies in the gym. And the First Zombie is controlling the zombies right now. They have a specific mission here, and it’s not to kill humans. Also, the zombies are a threat to absolutely everything.
About the movie: Nothing new since I’ve last answered the question. You can search through the comments for the answers there.
June 14th, 2007 at 3:01 pm
great page!! I want to see more!
June 14th, 2007 at 3:27 pm
Math last panel: Now to kick some zombie butt! yippy kay yay!!!
June 14th, 2007 at 5:59 pm
Math will kill you now.
Wow. Incredible pacing and tone. Amazing story, amazing art. I just had a joygasm. Can’t wait for the next page.
Hey Bobby, Will we be seeing Val at all during this battle, or will we deal with her uncaring attitude later on? And if she doesn’t show up, how tense will that make it between her and Math when she wants to feed from Murdo’s mom?
June 14th, 2007 at 6:02 pm
I love it! Math is kicking ass and forgetting all about the names! Can’t wait for the next page. And as a response to Lucien’s comment “I have a feeling the vampires will need some blood after this little bit of exertion… The humans might not be too happy about that.”, I just gotta say, if Math came up to me after kicking that much zombie butt and said he needed a little bit of blood, I’d be donating! Lol Bobby, Owen, you guys are doing wonderful with this story!
June 15th, 2007 at 1:59 am
I just had a thought… Was it the gym where Murdo saw his mother dead? Because if so, even if he was still unbitten at this point, there’s a possibility of his being locked in the gym with Math and a ton of zombies. >.> Which makes me squeak.
Maybe I should stop asking questions and just wait and see…
June 15th, 2007 at 2:32 am
“Was it the gym where Murdo saw his mother dead? Because if so, even if he was still unbitten at this point, there’s a possibility of his being locked in the gym with Math and a ton of zombies.”
That is the case, yes.
June 15th, 2007 at 2:57 am
I has found april!

June 15th, 2007 at 3:13 am
I like her.
June 15th, 2007 at 7:21 am
So does whoever will play Math lol
As far as a question, does TFZ experience any sort of ‘backlash’ when a zombie he is controlling gets killed?
June 15th, 2007 at 7:26 am
… I’d so be that particular April’s Math. /perverted thoughts.
It actually didn’t dawn on me until the second viewing that Math was locking the Zombies in. And the fact that he is just makes me cackle with vicious glee.
June 15th, 2007 at 7:54 am
“cash Says:
June 15th, 2007 at 2:57 am
I has found april!”
Excelent choice - she’s a beautiful polish girl =D
June 15th, 2007 at 8:48 am
Heh. The art really has improved. But it’s not like it was bad before. It was good then, but its just better now. And who cares if Aprils boobs are bigger? >>; Thats a totally good thing..(And its the first thing I noticed when I looked at the page..*Coughs*)
June 15th, 2007 at 8:57 am
I gotta say, you are rough on yourself for no reason. I love the story, pacing and art. This is my first experience with a web comic and I’m hooked. Love the ‘I am Legend’ reference with Matheson, too (that was deliberate, yes?). Your spoilers are fun, too.
A few questions:
Is Payne a vamp? Is he the “leader” of the vamps?
What other vamp powers are there besides flying, blood-sniffing and healing?
Is the ‘happy ending’ Math and April being the last two survivors, mating to create a new race? Or is there another world to escape to?
Most (or all) of the vamps and humans in Mexico are toast, yes?
Do the zombie’s eyes glow?
Do you know if your print comic is available in Chicago? Is it further ahead than your web publishing schedule?
Any other good vamp/zombie/horror web comics to recommend? Do you do any others?
Can you use a reco for a good entertainment lawyer? I know one that does film stuff I’s be happy to introduce you to, because this would make a great movie if done correctly (i.e., no low-budget Fangoria schlock — this is an awesome concept that should be a straight to video thing)?
June 15th, 2007 at 8:58 am
Sorry: should NOT be a straight to video thing.
June 15th, 2007 at 9:17 am
I checked out this comic from FCBD and thought it was the best surprise of the bunch. I was wondering if this is only an online comic or will it be continued on in paper such as issue 1 was?
I have looked for it to be solicited in the Previews book for the last 2 months now and have as yet to see it being solicited so I wanted to drop in and ask.
Thanks alot, and really enjoying the story so far!
June 15th, 2007 at 10:32 am
Damn, this is really getting better and better!!
I can hardly wait to find out if Murdo gets away unbitten!!!
(please let him be ok please please please)
By the way, this is already issue 3, right? When will it be available to order?
June 15th, 2007 at 2:06 pm
Terry. Never say stuff like that. Bobby doesn’t seems to be very bright when it comes to spoilers, and if Murdo will get bitten eventually, he’ll come right out and tell you. Why I usually stay away from the comments.
June 15th, 2007 at 2:32 pm
“Love the ‘I am Legend’ reference with Matheson, too (that was deliberate, yes?).”
I’ve never read it — don’t know what you’re referring to.
“Is Payne a vamp? Is he the ‘leader’ of the vamps?”
It’s been stated very clearly that he’s a vampire. They have no leader.
“What other vamp powers are there besides flying, blood-sniffing and healing?”
It’s complicated and I’ve answered it many times before. Only Devian can fly — no other vampires currently can. And not all of them are good at smelling blood. Math is one of the best, but the First Zombie was even better when he was a vampire, and he’s retained those skills.
“Is the ‘happy ending’ Math and April being the last two survivors, mating to create a new race? Or is there another world to escape to?”
Minor spoilers: None of that happens.
“Most (or all) of the vamps and humans in Mexico are toast, yes?”
Humans and vampires? No, the vampires will be fine, but (spoiler that I’ve said before many times) all of the humans there will die. The 30 at the school (including Mac) will be the only humans left alive on Earth in about 20 pages.
“Do the zombie’s eyes glow?”
Don’t know, don’t care.
“Do you know if your print comic is available in Chicago? Is it further ahead than your web publishing schedule?”
It will be available in Chicago, yes. Issue #2 goes to print on Monday and should be in stores in early July. Call your local stores and ask them about it.
“Any other good vamp/zombie/horror web comics to recommend? Do you do any others?”
I’ve never read any other horror comics, online or in print. I currently write two other comics and Owen draws several other comics. These are all linked to in the Links section under the calendar.
“Can you use a reco for a good entertainment lawyer?”
I don’t know, maybe. Not any time soon.
“I have looked for it to be solicited in the Previews book for the last 2 months now and have as yet to see it being solicited so I wanted to drop in and ask.”
Your question hurts my soul, friend. People who are even looking for it can’t find it, jeez. No wonder the orders were lower than expected. Anyway, it’s in the July PREVIEWS, under Blatant Comics, and the third issue will be in the September PREVIEWS. Please order multiple copies.
“By the way, this is already issue 3, right? When will it be available to order?”
Page 57 began issue #3. Issue #3 will be in the September PREVIEWS.
June 15th, 2007 at 3:24 pm
That zombie to the right in the last panel…looks a little too excited.
June 15th, 2007 at 5:12 pm
I love all the zombies on this page. Especially the muscle zombie in the 1st panel and the popped-out-eye zombie in the last one
June 15th, 2007 at 5:29 pm
Wow, the sword turned into some katana-like thingy! Next few pages and it’s gonna get curved and all
June 15th, 2007 at 7:49 pm
“I Am Legend” was a sci-fi novel written in the mid 50’s by Richard Matheson who would later write scripts for “Twilight Zone” and “Night Stalker”. It was about the last living man trying to survive (and stay sane) in a world overrun by vampires. It was made into two movies “The Last Man on Earth” (1964), and “The Omega Man” (1971), and was also the main inspiration for “Night of the Living Dead” (1968). Though they were vampires they acted more like zombies. Naming a main character here “Matheson” is an amazing coincidence, P.S. They made a reference to “tentacle rape” in “Wicked Powered”. We miss you, Ghastly.
June 15th, 2007 at 9:08 pm
when this movie comes out it will make millions of millions of $$$ youre a GENIOUS!
June 15th, 2007 at 9:10 pm
also aprils getting hotter is a good thing cuz even is the world really ended and they were the last remaining people (april and math) it would *ahem* speed things uup
June 15th, 2007 at 9:49 pm
About “I am Legend” — ah, he just meant the name of Matheson. I thought he was talking about something that Matheson did on this page or something. Owen actually suggested the name of Math and this is what he said in a January 12 e-mail: “How about Matheson after Richard Matheson the author of I am Legend the classic post apocalyptic vampire novel. They could call him Math, which would be funny cuz they are in an elementary school.” I had forgotten the reasoning for the name Matheson.
June 16th, 2007 at 1:44 am
Hm… I really liked this comic all the way through. Is it just me, or does Matheson deliberately resemble Buddy from Six-String Samurai?
June 16th, 2007 at 5:58 am
I think Math looks more like Buckaroo Banzi.
June 16th, 2007 at 6:58 am
i personally think matt looks only like a real classy badass vampire
not really a copy of any style just the common sense that makes them so c00l
June 16th, 2007 at 11:01 am
the zombie in the fifth panel made me instantly think of fairbank from sore thumbs :p
he makes that face too sometimes, but then it’s like OMG or something :p
June 16th, 2007 at 6:35 pm
It looks like Math has bell-bottoms on in the third panel. That made me giggle. Can you imagine a 70s style cast doing this movie? “The zombies are so not in the groove!”
…
Uh, anyway, haha, I love the second panel. Math’s frustration at the world, himself, April, zombies, and everything else all just comes right out there in the dark lines of his face. Excellent use of black!
He looks so badass in the last panel.
June 18th, 2007 at 5:11 am
Where did the woman vampire run off too? (Val if my memory is right) Last I saw of her she was ‘unclothed’ and in bed grumbling that she had to get up lol.
June 18th, 2007 at 5:58 am
Or rather, she was grumpling that her f**kbuddy ran off. She herself probably never bothered to move.
June 18th, 2007 at 7:27 am
This kinda reminds me of a song Vash from Trigun once sang.
The lyrics went like this:
“Total slaughter,
Total slaughter,
I won’t leave,
a single man alive.
La di da di die
genocide
La di da di dud
an ocean of blood
let’s begin,
the killing time.”
if you want to hear the tune just say so and I’ll try to upload an audio file of me singing it.
June 18th, 2007 at 9:17 am
Just a curiosity thing… is Addison Payne an anagram? (It’s entirely possible that this was answered before… I’ve read a lot of the panels/comments, but nowhere near all of them.) Couldn’t help noticing certain words in that name… dead… spy… pony… (I’m sure the last one is coincidental… just wondering about the first two)
June 18th, 2007 at 11:24 am
I hate anagrams and I’ll probably never intentionally use one in my writing.
You’ll see Val fairly soon.
June 18th, 2007 at 1:18 pm
Lmfao… Quarion… That was a great moment..
Pity Vash was entirely bluffing when he was singing it…
June 18th, 2007 at 9:06 pm
Just a wild guess but if the next page shows Math actually killing the zombies instead of skipping to him emerging from the gym victoriously…
Heads will roll…
June 18th, 2007 at 9:22 pm
Heads are gonna roll.
June 19th, 2007 at 7:20 am

Panel five is the second time where Math has seriously reminded me of Morlun from Amazing Spiderman. I don’t remember the first time though. This isn’t a bad thing! Morlun is cool, and so is Math, and they’re both vampires in a sense.
December 11th, 2007 at 6:37 am
THIS IS THE BEST PAGE SO FAR!
