Pages like this are great for getting the blood flowing, but I always end up reading them to quick getting caught up in the flow. Now to go back and drool over the pretty pictures.
I think I’m in love… lol! This was great! I love when a character completely owns their opponent! And if you put the zombies head back together in the top right panel… he looks like he was severely worried… hehe
WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE that was AWSOME i really wish that i was a bad ass killer vamp like Math
(my hair is even similar TEHE)
but i think id just ownthem all with my bare and and or sharp/pointy objects
i dont like guns that take no skill the weild and they dont do anything for you but make killing easier
(i dont mind it for killing zombies and that type of beasty but it just makes it all to easy to kill each other)
i like the idea of old time japan and wars fought with the skill of you body and mind and you ability to learn not just pick a block of metal aim and put a trigger
Iggie, can you accurately fire a gun?
It’s not just point and shoot.
Wars today are about tactics more than anything, instead of massive amounts of people formally marching to hack at eachother.
I have to wonder if that’s relieved Math’s anger; or if he could still go some. >.>; Hah, after the second-to-last panel I think he’s actually SORRY they’re all dead. Zombie killing- good vent for rage. I’ll have to remember it.
Ohh, I have a theory as the what the first ombie mayyy be up to. >.>; I mean, obviously he/it’s insane, I mean, 60+ years of being in the situation Math described cannot have a healthy affect on your mind. But… Well, all I say is if he’s not after the humans… >.>;
He’s definately looking like he just went totally kill-crazy just now.
I wonder if he’s beating himself up over people who died because he wasn’t on guard?
In the fourth and fifth panel, is it supposed to be that his sword went through 2 zombies at once or just coincidence?
locked doors so math can have an undisturbed lunch… right leg stained with blood (his internal fluids (vampires suck blood but what does it get converted into to support them???)or from zombie spatter?) ..and murdo yet to be seen .. should get interesting
1….5…10…25 Zombies in the last panel… If i counted right (Might be off im not wearing my glasses) 25+ zombies in 6 panels. Thats just bad. (but in a good way ;P)
Great action page. The last shot is awesome. Don’t know if you watch Entourage, but that last panel reminds me of a scene from this sundays show
Anyways, I was wondering if I could get an answer to my question from the last page, if TFZ gets any kind of psychic backlash if a zombie he is controlling dies?
Hey Bobby and Owen - I was wondering - is there is any chance you’ll get back to more regular update schedule? If you dont have the time to do it MWF, could you possibly tell what days you’ll do the update?
PS. Love Owen’s action pages! Great, dynamic drawing! Take care guys!
Will: No backlash. I do watch “Entourage,” but I haven’t seen the latest episode yet — will today at some point probably. Not sure if Owen watches it.
Simon: We’ll almost certainly get back to doing three pages per week starting this week, although they might not always be MWF.
Yanson: I think Owen’s hit his stride now and we’re pretty much locked in to the current style. No more real tweaking necessary, since he’s got it looking basically perfect now. I’m guessing the style of Page 100 will be similar to the last several pages.
Chris: Two zombies at once with the same sword thrust in Panels 4 and 5, yes, as I explain in my sketch.
oh wow, I didn’t even pick up the panels 4 and 5 being basically one… thats a great touch, I like it a lot.
and you just got lots of extra points for entourage lol I’d say watch it asap, its a great kick off to the season… what walsh goes through in it is probably something you can relate to… and its gives you a great line any time someone is annoying you for something (”perculating”)
I’m actually not much of a fan of “Entourage,” but mostly just watch it for Drama and Turtle, hoping they’ll do something funny. I hate Walsh — super annoying. E is the worst character by far, though, and Vince is second worst, and they get the most screen time, so that’s no good.
I watch Entourage mostly for the Drama/Lloyd and Lloyd/Ari interaction…Of course, Turtle is right up there, too, especially since he finally got a lady friend! I’m too much of a fan of E…He’s got a Napoleon complex or something…Although the Seth Green episode (where E and Seth Green fight) was epic!
Anyway, thanks for pointing out the connection between panels 4 & 5– I probably wouldn’t have noticed it– I glance through things quickly when there’s no dialogue to make my eyes pause…
The whole scene makes me wonder what Math’s gonna say to Val when she belatedly shows up…
Beautiful page - I’m loving this comic and the world & back story is wonderfully done. I’m excited to see where this goes. I like what you’re doing for the vampire legend here - vampires are both sympathetic and yet highly dangerous. Love it! Thanks!
Bobby’s words: “Math in some sort of cool pose.”
Owen’s visualisation: THAT.
…Did I mention I love this page? Well, in oder to be safe…
I love this page.
I think panel six is my favourite; both for the way Math attacks the zombie, and the fact that the zombie is wearing a shirt and tie. It’s just one of those cool touches which helps you realise they were real people; that and the was-once-pretty female zombie. ^_^ I lurve.
You realize of course, that after slaughtering zombies, Math’s adrenaline is skyrocketing. And that means he’s going to go up stairs and rail April. Vigorously.
hey penguin, I think the zombies have to be taken out with head-shots, so I’m assuming that the sword in the chest is to keep the zombie still and the shot is to actually take him out. If you want to be practical about it. It could also just be really stylish
Naw, what I’m getting at is that if you’re behind the zombie, it’d just be faster (and a helluva lot less awkward) to thrust through the back. It goes against just about everything to try and stab towards yourself.
Unless the idea is that he stabbed the guy from the front and didn’t want to let go of his sword as he swung around behind him and shot him… or something. :S
if i were a vamp and zombies were about to make me and my food extinct, i think i would get fairly creative when killing them, turn it into an artform….
mmmmm… zombie guts…
I always get so hot for vampires…. Especially when they kill stuff. Wonder if that makes me a weirdo? I miss the female though… Shes even hotter than MAtt….
That last frame just makes me want to try and find waldo.
Zombie waldo, no one knows he’s there till half the room is dead.
I don’t have enough time to read all the comments on here (And I apologize for that), but in response to the below the belt question, maybe it’s referring to the killing of Jimmy and the several others here. That may have been “Below the belt” to Math, leading to this zombie kill fest.
I didn’t spot an answer from Bobby to that question as I skimmed through, but, I’m sure he did somewhere, or will soon.
just looked at your mspaint lay out. Must be a great feeling to send to the artist and have your ideas come back realized perfectly.
Re-read the whole thing, the style has changed and is so excellent now. It started off similair to zombies vs. robots, which was okay, but this evolution is just amazing.
While undeniably awesome, did he really need to stab the zombie in the chest, get it in a headlock, then shoot it in the head? It’s obvious he has no trouble bringing a sword up and chopping a zombie in half that way, why stab, then shoot?
Oh wait, because it’s awesome, never mind. But I am curious if they are actually having a shortage of ammo because it was mentioned that the vampires brought ammo with them. After that, is there still a large ammo conservation problem at the base?

…You wouldn’t like him when he’s angry.
(Oh, yes, we would! Heart you, Math!)
June 19th, 2007 at 4:10 pm
What about this page is below the belt? Did Math get hit?
June 19th, 2007 at 4:24 pm
Math so coooolll… but where is Murdo? Im so worried about him!!! 0_o
June 19th, 2007 at 4:29 pm
“What about this page is below the belt? Did Math get hit?”
Someone suggested the title to me and I went with it.
Nara: Murdo on the next page.
June 19th, 2007 at 4:40 pm
Whoa…that was nothing short of amazing in terms of massive zombie killage!
And Math’s THE MAN…
June 19th, 2007 at 4:51 pm
I think I’m in love… lol! This was great! I love when a character completely owns their opponent! And if you put the zombies head back together in the top right panel… he looks like he was severely worried… hehe
June 19th, 2007 at 5:03 pm
And… Where the fuck is that sexholic vampire? Even murdo is down there, but she isn’t! And she was with him…
June 19th, 2007 at 5:59 pm
Paul, i think it’s clear that she doesn’t like humans. Why would she go rushing down there when Math can take care of it?
She might be having problems getting into that suit without help…
I said head would roll!
June 19th, 2007 at 6:02 pm
Holy fuck, Math is BAD ASS! And panels 4 and 5 are awesome!
June 19th, 2007 at 7:00 pm
I think that one’s still moving…stab him again
June 19th, 2007 at 7:53 pm
I’m always amused by how surprised they look to suddenly cease existing. ^^

Damn! I’m SO curious about how will Owen’s style change when the #’ll hit 100
June 20th, 2007 at 9:56 am
That third panel was so hot.
Heheh, that was the first thing I thought of when I saw the comic.
Awesome job again guys- wicked action scene!

No worries, Mewt. I did to.
You realize of course, that after slaughtering zombies, Math’s adrenaline is skyrocketing. And that means he’s going to go up stairs and rail April. Vigorously.
June 21st, 2007 at 11:22 am
Now why in the hell would you stab someone through the front of the chest from behind and then shoot them in the head?
June 21st, 2007 at 1:44 pm
Penguin: Because you’re very, very angry, and want to kill them two and three times in a row.
Go Math!!
June 21st, 2007 at 2:56 pm

*drool*
heh, directly beneath math’s sword tip in the last panel towards the bottom of the page is a zombie that looks like a total geek.
June 22nd, 2007 at 8:10 pm
{”Especially when they kill stuff.”}
Stuff? Yeah, you are weird.
June 22nd, 2007 at 8:17 pm
Mewt
{” I admit, I went back to search for ZombieBoobs after Keroppi’s comment… “}
Ewwww just look at their faces. Please, zombie boobs would not be all plump and perky.
June 22nd, 2007 at 9:40 pm
Fricken’ owned.

That was badass.

Well, in the 6th panel he just used the sword to get a grip on the zombie - only headshots can put them to rest.
I just can’t get enough of Your ms paint scripts Bobby
I ordered my own scriptwriter to do the same but they are never as good as Yours
“make this a pretty zombie lady” and then there’s the round face with eyes that have eyelashes xD
June 23rd, 2007 at 3:34 am
Oh, yeah, and the copy-paste corpses in the last panel =D
June 23rd, 2007 at 10:56 am
Carrin: I actually don’t know the meaning of the title. I asked someone what I should call it and she said “Below the Belt” and I used it.
June 23rd, 2007 at 3:07 pm

June 28th, 2007 at 2:13 pm
Mithras: All depends on how many zombies show up. And tons are gonna. Not enough ammo in the world, really.
November 17th, 2007 at 11:39 am
Oh my God, I love the way panels 4-5 go together. Wicked awesome, that.
December 11th, 2007 at 6:38 am
THIS IS THE BEST PAGE SO FAR!
