Page 80: This is Everyone

Sunday, September 30th, 2007

Thus ends the third issue of the Last Blood comic and the second act of the Last Blood film. Going to print tomorrow with issue #3 and it should be in stores by Halloween.

This was my sketch for today’s page, if anyone cares.

  1. Ddukbokgi Says:

Wow, I must say, well done!! Detailed drawing and a non boring story. Well done my good man. (:

  2. Lydia Says:

Didn’t expect the vampires to look like a walking freak show.

Love the last panel. The dialogue is ominous.

  3. Elie Says:

Wow! I’ve never posted before, but this page is just AWESOME! The last panel is brilliant!

  4. Alex B Says:

Dang! So this is it. All is left is 30 or so humans. Hope their is a solution because otherwise the human race is doomed!

  5. Alex B Says:

LOL I spy CECANIA from Sore Thumbs on the top right hand side :D Nice one Bobby.

  6. Bobby Crosby Says:

I don’t care in any way if the human race is doomed and don’t think it should matter much to the story, but I’ve included a clear section that addresses that, which will mostly affect the possible sequels. I think it’s important enough as it is to just find out if these humans, possibly the final group of humans on Earth, live a long, normal life or also get zombified. Big enough win by itself to make it so at least not every human on Earth was killed by a zombie or turned into a zombie, I think.

“LOL I spy CECANIA from Sore Thumbs on the top right hand side :D Nice one Bobby.”

That was entirely Owen.  Might need a fun close up of her later.

  7. will Says:

Great page! Would that be a cameo by Cassidy from _Preacher_ in the first panel?

  8. Bobby Crosby Says:

Don’t know who that is, but I’m guessing no.

EDIT: Looked it up — I see the resemblance, yeah.  Owen will most likely answer that when he reads this.

  9. Sim^moN Says:

There goes re-population. If these are the last humans on earth - the gene pool will be to small.. but I dont care - lets have an orgy anyways =P
I wonder if there is a posibility that there are groups of survivors never found by the zombies or the vampires, in africa or smth like that.

  10. Bobby Crosby Says:

“I wonder if there is a posibility that there are groups of survivors never found by the zombies or the vampires, in africa or smth like that.”

Zero possibility of that, but there are other possibilities in regards to repopulation, as I’ve said recently in the comments.

  11. Szyronn Says:

    awsome page (y)
love the “refresh” rate of new pages

  12. Thesis Matt Says:

Is that sum Denny in the first panel?

    Yall best back up.

  13. Christine Says:

Man, you’re evil to your characters *laughs*

  14. Chris Says:

I wonder what those five minutes will be used for?

I’m surprised that one of the vampires is using a sythe, its a big slow weapon and hard to use to in conjunction with teammates without hurting them too. Also there aren’t as many apparent guns as I’d suspect in the group, I would have thought that more of the vampires would all be carrying ak-47s and explosives. Easier to deal with zombie crowds that way that melee weapons. though they are much more dramatic that way.

  15. Austin W Says:

well, these are vamps, who will use a .45 and a katana at the same time.
and i think that addison will find a way to clone dead humans, either that or there are survivors in a boat in the pacific or other islands :D

  16. zack Says:

most of the vampires are probably centuries old so they will be more comfterbale with mele wepons and mabye better with them than with guns

  17. Alex B Says:

A gun can run out of ammo, a sword or other melee weapon cannot. There is your answer :)

  18. Jabberwocky Says:

Yes, Cassidy is there! Pretty please, let him say/do something. Just for the hell of it :-)

  19. Anko Says:

Addison Payne sure has a knack for repeating the same thing three times for dramatic affect.
I’m glad that Math’s looks have taken a turn for the better after a while. :D

  20. K-man Says:

    This comic is utterly awesome!

Dissed my girlfriend on msn to read it through ^^

Will be “F5:ing” this page in the future!

  21. achrin Says:

the gangs all here cause the party is over back where they were …. five minutes just five minutes… not long enough to get a buzz from the scotch …assuming that it survived the crash that is…..a-hem.. storage facilities for reproductive issues.. some kind of bank i think…..enough said on that matter….

  22. Simricard Says:

Gotta love the vampire with the battleaxe!

  23. Lance Says:

Is it just me, or is there a vamp with a bottle of booze in the first panel? Right there, next to the one with the 9mm.

Nice work Bobby and Owen, keep it up guys ^_^

  24. Zaldaran Says:

wow i hope 30 humans can provide enough blood for that many vamps.

  25. IGOR Says:

If there was a cruise in the ocean how could zombies get in to it I mean comon they cant swim even if they could they couldnt klimb up the boat or could they?
I wonder what about people in Antarctica are there any humans like 4 or 2?
By the way what about the animals what happens if a zombie bites an animal?

  26. Slaine Says:

Just discovered this comic yesterday. Cool story and art. It reminds me a LOT of Evil Ernie from Chaos Comics, specifically the master zombie controlling the other zombies and wiping out all human life on earth, but it’s definitely its own different and way cool storyline.

I look forward to seeing how this story develops. :)

  27. Sim^moN Says:

“Zero possibility of that, but there are other possibilities in regards to repopulation, as I’ve said recently in the comments.”

I missed it probably, cause sometimes theres no time to read all comments.. Ill look it up sometime later.

  28. Jabberwocky Says:

Lance: It IS a bottle of booze and his name is Cassidy. He rocks as he always has :-)

  29. Jesse Says:

Jeez, there’s now almost as many vampires as there are humans. The vamps will have to repeatedly drain the survivors to the point of death just to keep themselves from becoming zombies. The relationship between the humans and their protectors is about to get a lot less happy…

  30. IGOR Says:

I think he has some porn for Murdo in that suitcase

  31. Ken C. Says:

    Stumbled onto the webcomic today….

4 hours, 80 pages, and 5 cups of coffee later my bladder was about to burst, my dog crapped in the house (right next to the door, so I know she waited for me to let her out first… poor thing) I’ve ignored two phone calls and my ass has zombified from sitting in this chair, but it was all well worth it!

Comments while everything is still fresh.

#1 I think MM’s first name should be “Chet” or “Chester”.

#2 If there is any way to cast Gary Coleman as a little black zombie please do, then park the plane on him.

#3 I suggest filming in central Wyoming, it’s desolate and barren, and you’d save a ton of money recruiting all the meth addicts to play zombies, think of all the cash you’d save in make-up man! (just don’t pay them before filming is finished or you’ll have to wait three days for them to show up again).

#4 The thing that sets me on edge most about zombie movies is when you get things that just don’t fit, not in your face stuff, but background things that are ‘normal’ in the pre-zombie world still going on via their own inertia.

examples : The burning train o’ death in the War of the Worlds remake that goes whizzing by.

the elevator music/mall music in Dawn of the Dead remake (wasn’t it ‘don’t worry, be happy’ muzak?)

Anyhow, thats enough for my first post, if I offended anyone with #2 or #3 you’re taking yourself (and me) waaay too seriously, just wait till I rant about the Baldwin Brothers or Steven Segal :P

    K.C.

  32. Ed Says:

IGOR, if i recall the first four pages we saw a zombie come out of the ocean.

  33. di'Taykan Says:

There’s a possibility for re-population that doesn’t depend on there being a hidden group of humans…

I’ve got a feeling you addressed this before, but does that mean the vampires would breed with the surviving humans?

  34. Bobby Crosby Says:

“i think that addison will find a way to clone dead humans, either that or there are survivors in a boat in the pacific or other islands”

There are no survivors anywhere else and there will be no cloning.

“Addison Payne sure has a knack for repeating the same thing three times for dramatic affect.”

Sort of, but not really the same thing. “They’re all dead” refers to the humans in Mexico, then “These are the last humans on Earth” refers to the humans at the school, then “This is everyone” is saying that now all the vampires and all the humans are in one place (and all the zombies are on their way there), answering Math’s question of “Is this everyone?” which was simply asking about if it was all the vampires. It wouldn’t necessarily be all the vampires just because all the humans in Mexico died.

“If there was a cruise in the ocean how could zombies get in to it I mean comon they cant swim even if they could they couldnt klimb up the boat or could they?
I wonder what about people in Antarctica are there any humans like 4 or 2?
By the way what about the animals what happens if a zombie bites an animal?”

Jeez, all of these questions have literally been answered at least 30 times each in the comments. And why would you possibly say that the zombies can’t swim? They can do absolutely everything they could as a human when TFZ is controlling them, probably more actually. Everyone EVERYWHERE is dead, including in Antarctica and throughout the oceans. Google the answers to the rest of your questions.

“The vamps will have to repeatedly drain the survivors to the point of death just to keep themselves from becoming zombies.”

No, that’s not an issue at all, as I’ve said a trillion times.

“I’ve got a feeling you addressed this before, but does that mean the vampires would breed with the surviving humans?”

No, that’s not what it means.

  35. Austin W Says:

bad dream maybe? or the poeple in the space stations in orbit? i doubt that the zombies could launch a shuttle into space.

  36. Austin W Says:

o,and the fat zombie has a meat clever. is that why he’s fat?

  37. HJFudge Says:

Just found this and read it. Very very neat story idea. I was worried at first that it was gonna be silly, but its been pretty well done so far.

Looking forward to seeing more! Very unique and fresh take on zombies and I love how you’ve casted Vampires as ‘the good guys’

  38. Bobby Crosby Says:

Nothing involving dreams or space. I’m 99% sure that this was answered specifically within the comments of the past few pages.

  39. asbath Says:

I give a shit about the survivors, I just wanna see the fight

  40. Matthew Gotth-Olsen Says:

I just discovered this comic through a banner ad on GodMode, and I have to say, it’s quite good. I really like the pace of the story, the art is good, and the whole concept clicks really well.

Keep it up, I’ll be reading.

  41. KamakaziSparow Says:

So, I got 20 in this one, assuming that’s not counting the ones before… that 32. Plus the 4 that are here… That’s 36. Man… I was hoping for 42. Ya know, the answer to life the universe and everything? Oh well, this is way better than I could do, so I’m not gonig to complain.

  42. Bobby Crosby Says:

“So, I got 20 in this one, assuming that’s not counting the ones before…”

It’s counting lots of ones from before. There’s 31 total vampires probably.

  43. Necavi Omnes Says:

The vampy with the booze? Amazing. Owen, I give you an e-five (like a high-five, but through electrons ((that’s what ‘e’ means! Look into your chemistry if you don’t know what I’m talking about)), its that good).
Lots of suspense; Bobby, I admire your ability to keep a story line going, despite the endless morons who call falsies in your fucking story.
Love the comic, I hope you write a follow-up (even though I know you wont).

    `Neca

  44. Bobby Crosby Says:

“I hope you write a follow-up (even though I know you wont).”

A follow-up meaning a sequel comic to “Last Blood”? If so, there’s a very good chance that that will happen.

  45. wedge Says:

30 against 5 billion does seem a little one sided

  46. Heph Says:

Just finished reading the archives..Came here from a banner on a Webcomic. Guess they do work after all :-P
Anyway, would just like to say i’d gladly download all your available Wowio titles, if they’d let me. I’m a regular of Sore Thumbs as well, so, yeah. Come on, the EU is a nice market! *cough*

Anyway, awesome writing and great drawing! Hurray! Keep it up!

  47. Erica Says:

Ok so I just sat here and read the whole comic book from page one…I love it… This is great work and I must give you props…Now I dont like comic books that mauch but I was at work and I was bored out of my mind so I just happened to stumble onto this site…Wow was I exited… I think they should make a video game out of this. I so would buy it. The story line is not that original but the characters entwine you into this world of many possibilities…. I must admit I am too impressed… I will continue reading the rest and I will support anything that has to do with the production of this film..

  48. Austin W Says:

im hooked, plain and simple. please give us ansewers! go refresh monkeys!
*sits at comp for 10 days constantly hitting refresh*

  49. drew Says:

Just read the entire archive, love it undeath! Can’t wait to see the other vampires get into the mix, going to check this from now on.

  50. Roy Says:

Just to let you know, I seem to remember that you need at least 8 distinct ‘breeding’ pairs of humans to repopulate with enough genetic variability not have everyone directly related to each other, so theoretically it could work with 30 people, assuming not everyone’s related.

Mind you, there’s an awful lot of vampires in this last page to feed………….

Nice work though, I love the comic guys so keep it coming!

  51. Anko Says:

Oh, I thought that by ‘everyone’ they meant the humans, not the vampires. My bad. It makes more sense now.
I’m past halfway through reading all of the comments (at page 48 now). It’s tiresome but you get the occasional treat of an extremely funny comment or stuff like that. Plus most of your questions are answered. Several times over. But Bobby, I must say I completely disagree with you about one thing: your writing isn’t crap. Please don’t say that. :(

  52. Brellchild Says:

Personally I like the guy with the battleaxe.

Something 99% of books and movies dealing with supernatural protagonists miss is that given a base strength and speed several HUNDRED percent of human normal means that weapons like that actually become practical. A normal medieval war axe is only a fraction that size because the human arm simply cannot swing 20 pounds of metal in combat for more than five minutes or so.

A vampire on the other hand could.

Effectively useless against another vampire because of the fractionally longer recovery times versus a more normal sword, but against humans and zombies the ‘blow through’ might actually help sometimes.

    And it looks cool.

    ***

I was one of the ones arguing about re-population before, but then I realized something: If Addison Payne’s lab complex survived there are TONS of options available even without resorting to things like cloning.

  53. Sosh Says:

is that a vampire Cecania? SWEET

  54. dave Says:

    this comic rocks!!

read it all so far, when will i be able to download the pdf’s in britain, i so want them

+ is this being made into a film, i hope so, ill be one of the first in when it comes out

  55. cybur netiks Says:

Cool as it was, I wouldn’t have crashed the plane. I would have tried to use it to move the rest of the survivors to a easier to defend place. Although they might not have hardly any fuel left.

..And I think the school itself is probably important to the story.

I don’t know if i would continue trying to survive if there were only 30 people left on the planet. Unless there is a really good plan to destroy the zombies and fix mankind with a handful of vampires and humans, I wouldn’t see any point to it.

  56. Bobby Crosby Says:

“Oh, I thought that by ‘everyone’ they meant the humans, not the vampires.”

Um, first Math meant just the vampires when he asked about everyone, then the last line of Addison’s refers to EVERYONE, both the humans and the vampires. It’s one of those things that works a LOT better on film.

  57. Teardropcatcher Says:

I don’t know why all these people take repopulation this seriously. We probably aren’t going to see that, since the comic is more about fighting the zombies while trying to live with the vampires, not about how many babies a group of humans can have. Although I can see why you’re making this group the last one, since that way, others can’t steal the idea, blah blah blah. What I don’t understand is why so many look for plotholes o_o. I suddenly understand paranoia.

Lovely page, I liked the top panel, but my favourite part was the conversation between Math and Addison. Math’s expression is so hopeful, so pained… it’s almost sweet. Addison’s is the complete opposite: calm and neutral, with just that hint of seriously badass, weird drama of his. Have I mentioned exactly how much I love Addison? XD

Awesome update, I’ll be waiting for the next one! ^_^

  58. Necavi Omnes Says:

“A follow-up meaning a sequel comic to “Last Blood”? If so, there’s a very good chance that that will happen.”

Oh, snap. Seriously? Every time (in the past) when it was mentioned, you gave a definite no.
It’s good to see that you might change your mind.
Like I said, I enjoy reading your work, and as an aspiring author myself, its nice to see others of the same genre being successful.

    … Where’s Vo?

    `Neca

  59. Bobby Crosby Says:

“Every time (in the past) when it was mentioned, you gave a definite no.”

That’s actually not the case, no. I talked about various sequels and prequels and how I’d like to do them. The only thing close to a “no” that I recall was when I said that there would have to be more copies ordered of the comic books through Diamond (distributor) in order to make more issues, and there was always a decent chance of that, but now if WOWIO stays solid we can make enough money through that alone to continue making the comics. Be sure to download the issues on wowio.com if you haven’t yet!

  60. Anko Says:

Hmmm…. I’m not sure if anyone has asked this yet (I AM slowly reading through all the old comments but haven’t finished yet) do you think it would be possible to have an alternative to WOWIO for all non-American people? Like you could charge downloads of the PDFs from this site? It would be a good alternative to overseas mail ordering, I think. Maybe you should think about it, if you haven’t done so yet. If you have, then now you know that there’s some interest.

And also, is it still true that TFZ has only one living relative (not April) in the town?

Plus, if it’s not too much to ask, would it be possible to get Owen’s email address for some questions concerned about the artwork?

    Keep up the good work!

  61. Bobby Crosby Says:

Owen reads through the comments, so he could give it if he wants, or you could just ask those questions here.

“do you think it would be possible to have an alternative to WOWIO for all non-American people?”

Hopefully WOWIO will add a lot more countries soon.

“Like you could charge downloads of the PDFs from this site?”

Eh, I don’t know. Don’t want to bother with that right now. Maybe later.

“And also, is it still true that TFZ has only one living relative (not April) in the town?”

    SPOILER –

Yes, and I’ve previously said that it’s Murdo.

  62. Austin W Says:

where can i get a pair of goggles like addison? and if he were in a movie,i think he would have a british accent, along with most of the vamps. just my thought of the day :D

  63. JT Cool Says:

Wow awesome Story. I never posted but I can say I am one of the refresh monkeys.

Damn I was kind of hoping that there might have been some kind of last group of survivors besides those 30. Math said it was hard to smell them when they were underground so I kind of thought or hoped that a group went far enough underground that no one would be able to smell them. I dunno like A group of soldiers that went into a Last Resort bomb shelter when they had that All-Out nuclear war.

Also. DUDE AWESOME VAMPIRES!! Rage is like a bad-assER Highlander. Then there was the guy with the shades and the Booze,The guy with the awesome battle ax,Dude with awesome Hair with scimitar and Rapier (Probably Wrong).

Also I loved the Punk Rock Vampire in the previous chapter.

  64. Hyshinara Says:

    *dramatic music* dum dum duuuuuum!!!*

Addison Payne looks like Riddick from Pitch Black and Chronicles of Riddick

  65. fieldy409 Says:

ive got it! sperm banks! Why would zombies do anything to them?

  66. Pasta_and_Tacos Says:

    NUKE THOSE ____ING ZOMBIES!!!!

  67. Bobby Crosby Says:

    Nope, not sperm banks.

  68. MDx Says:

Haha, I love this fragging comic, and I love the cameo Cassidy from Preacher there. God Job!

“Have you seen the fuckin’ state’ve me? Are you trynna tell me yeh’re gonna fuck off an’ leave me to that space-cadet hooer of a wop up there? What kind’ve a fuckin’ lovin’ God are you?!” -Cass

  69. Ash Says:

    I Spy Proinsias Cassidy! :D

    Fantastic Job

  70. ugh Says:

Of course the last humans on earth are in America…. yeaash think up a new cliche.

  71. Bobby Crosby Says:

Yeah, would have been a lot smarter to set it in a place and possibly a language that I’m not familiar with, especially since I’m very possibly going to film it myself at the school building that my family owns IN AMERICA.  Fucking morons, jeez.

  72. Get Over Yourself Says:

Ooh. Poor baby, Bobby. People like your stuff and want to comment on it and ask questions. What an awful burden it must be for you. You don’t want to repeat yourself? Put up a FAQ page. Otherwise, quit whining.

  73. Bobby Crosby Says:

I’ve explained that a trillion times. 95% of the time that I’m repeating myself it’s about spoilers because people are impatient and want to know what happens later in the story and I don’t mind giving some spoilers, so I give them, but I wouldn’t want an official FAQ to just be filled with spoilers for obvious reasons. If someone wants to know so badly what happens next, they can read through all the comments and sometimes it’s annoying when they act like they’re definitely right about something and like I’ve screwed shit up when all they had to do was read through the comments to see where I’ve explained it many times to know that’s not the case.

“People like your stuff and want to comment on it and ask questions . . . quit whining.”

Kill yourself, you lying asshole.  I’ve never once whined about someone simply asking a question, especially someone who “liked my stuff.”  I’ve only whined about the people who clearly act like they hate my stuff and those people would never ask a question — they flat out say that I’ve made huge errors when none have been made.

  74. Stuart Says:

Big fan of the comic. Currently at Film school, and excited to hear about projects like this. I really hope it works for you.

Honestly, I’m a little dissapointed that you’ve decided to kill off the majority of mankind. I don’t know quite entirely how your Zombies work (and I won’t sift through 80 pages of comments to find out), but it just seems a tad impractical, and a bit glossed over that 6 billion bit it in less than a month. I understand that this comic serves more as a storyboard than anything else, but it’s just something irked me a little. Just not alot was done to show how smart they are beyond they can crawl through tunnels, and so I don’t know if it’s because of the First Zombie leading them, or what. This isn’t criticism, and lord knows as a film maker even if it was that wouldn’t stop you one bit, just some impressions.

I’ve got some theories on how you’ll resolve everything, such as the “population crisis (Not the crap you’ve heard before)”, but I’ll keep it to myself and be surprised.

  75. Bobby Crosby Says:

“Just not alot was done to show how smart they are beyond they can crawl through tunnels, and so I don’t know if it’s because of the First Zombie leading them, or what.”

Keep in mind that the story’s NOT OVER YET. There’s a lot more to come.

  76. jon Says:

    wow bob chill man
kirkman goes through this shit bucket loads in his letter hacks i am sure, your doing just fine best way to confront all those nasty questions, just say “you’ll find out” simple effective and get used to the whole “you scrwed up shit”
you can’t screw it up its your story you can’t mess up your own work. keep drawing and writting and i will keep reading i mean hell this is vampires and fuckign zombies people!!! anythign can and propbl;y will happen!!! you just saw a plane full of vampiers crash a jet plane into a horde of zombies!!! and you wnat to know if people are alive in antartica! WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!1 who cares

  77. Bobby Crosby Says:

    “wow bob chill man”

Don’t tell me to chill. It’s annoying.

“and get used to the whole ‘you scrwed up shit’ ”

I’ve been used to it for forever.

“you can’t screw it up its your story you can’t mess up your own work.”

    Sure you can, very easily.

“and you wnat to know if people are alive in antartica! WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!1 who cares”

    LOL, I agree.

  78. Brellchild Says:

A facet to repopulation not yet commented on by the readers (unless I missed it) is that Dr Payne supposedly can cure vampirism. Assuming this works your breeding population just doubled at a minimum - and also got *much* more diverse.

Hopefully he has gotten to test this cure before now though. The possibility of lingering subtle genetic damage from such a transformation (or re-transformation in some cases) would be a significant hurdle.

  79. Nico Says:

*chuckles* Looks Like they’re working ya up into a storm.
The FAQ thing isn’t a bad idea to help cut down on annoying posts, but the fact of the matter is….

Most readers aren’t going to be thourough enough in their reading to stop themselves from acking the same questions 20 people before them. (often on the same page) have asked before. Some days are worse than others, and we’re not even counting trolls.

    Such is life.

But at the risk of being repetitive…
Been following your run since about the 3rd page.
Still as excellent as ever. I hope you do get it on film.

  80. Bobby Crosby Says:

“Most readers aren’t going to be thourough enough in their reading to stop themselves from acking the same questions 20 people before them.”

Again, never been bothered by people asking questions. I’m bothered by the people who state their incorrect shit as facts without even taking two seconds to research it.

“Still as excellent as ever. I hope you do get it on film.”

    Thanks.

  81. Lance Says:

Whoa, Bobby, freightening me here, scary to see you pissed off.

Anyway, Loving the work, keep it up. I hope that I have this sort of confidence in my own work some day.

  82. Bobby Crosby Says:

I don’t have any confidence in my work. I hate my work. And I’m pissed off at all times. Big difference between being confident in your work and knowing when a specific thing is factually incorrect.

  83. Kalara Says:

I love your work as always! I’ve been reading for a while but just caught up in the comments about two or three days ago. Thanks for giving us all this information! I’m getting excited about things that haven’t happened yet!

  84. Alex B Says:

I must admit, going thought the past comments can be a pain, but Bobby is right that its worth doing. There plenty of interest insights and comments left by both Bobby, Owen and everyone else.

Google searching them sucks, but its always worth reading them. Just do what I and skim to where Bobby has commented and read what he has to say. :)

CTRL + F for the win.

  85. Marieke Says:

    *snickers* Bobby…

    *waves wooden spoon treatheningly*

Your work is great, believe you me (even though I know you don’t) and know that I still have my eye peeled on every new page… And love them to bits, despite my lack of commenting lately.

And, really, he is pissed all the time *laughs* not.

He’s a nice guy, if only he’d believe it. A bit intollerant, maybe, but I respect that. People sometimes deserve a good whacking ;)

take care ye all and Bobby, keep up the great work!!!

“Of course the last humans on earth are in America…. yeaash think up a new cliche.”

Ofcourse its a cliche, but why wouldnt it be one when its clearly said that TFZ is american and that he accually chose not to kill them yet. If I’m mistaken then please correct me.

  88. Brellchild Says:

I can’t help but think what would happen if someone was running this as a GURPS campaign. Anyone want to volunteer to write it up?

  89. IGOR Says:

I just read trough all the posts and i have no idea what to say.

Sorry if Iam being tight but are there any birds left?

By the way i agree that Payne looks like Ridick.

And I have glases like that

  90. Avi Lyra Says:

I’ve been a longtime zombie/post-apocalyptic theme lover and stumbled across this comic by sheer accident. I absolutely LOVE it! It’s got me on the edge of my seat and I’m really looking forward to the next update.

  91. vo Says:

Hey Neca, I’m still here. just lurking a lot lately.

Bobby!!!!!! I know how they “win.” Mass suicide! If all the Vampires kill themselves, they TFZ has no reason to be pissed at them anymore! Course, then the zombies will overrun the remaining humans and kill them all, but, eh, who really cares? Humans are stupid anyway. As always, I love the work. And I am more than willing to “clear” the peons for you if ya want.

A gun can run out of ammo, a sword or other melee weapon cannot. There is your answer”

Agree, you dont fight zombies with modern weapons, the best way to fight zombies is the ancient way, armor, horse, sword and spears…

  93. Austin W Says:

but you can mix it up with a ac 130 gunship or artillary strikes,or try out tha tnew non reciol .45 smg

  94. Lance Says:

Hey Bobby, you must have confidence in your work. You went and posted it online for the world to see. That shows that you have some faith in your ability as a writer, doesn’t it?

  95. Bobby Crosby Says:

Eh, a little, sure, but my main point was just that I don’t think it’s very good. I certainly think it’s good enough to get a movie deal, but that’s not very hard, certainly doesn’t mean it’s good. I especially dislike the first 35 pages or so of “Last Blood” — horribly written. Really makes me wish I could write faster and didn’t need the pressure of deadlines to get any work done at all, since a second draft would be a trillion times better. But that’s what the screenplay will be, so whatever, no big deal.

  96. Austin W Says:

i just found a vamp with a harpoon! ar she blows!

I am completely in love with this comic, just so you know. I’ve already gotten one of my friends hooked on it (she loved the fact that Math killed Hitler).
Keep up the good work, you guys. It makes my day to see a new page up on Monday, Wednesday or Friday.
And Bobby, y’are a good writer. You have lots of people telling you so. You’re always your own worst critic, though, so I suppose that makes sense that you think that.
Hope the movie comes in soon. Updates on that? (I went through the last few pages of comments and didn’t see anything, hence why I asked.)
    ~Cat

  100. Nekokaburi Says:

Brellchild, I know someone who ran a GURPS game with a similar plot. No vampires, but the zombies were controlled by some unseen force. At the start of the game he told everyone “I am not running a role playing game this time. I am directing a zombie B-movie.”

It was pretty fun. Even if it was a little crazy… two of the characters were a Japanese schoolgirl in the US on vacation, and a character based on Samuel L Jackson.

  101. Bobby Crosby Says:

“Hope the movie comes in soon. Updates on that?”

We have an offer from a production company for an option, but we’re still negotiating and may not take it. Lots more to say about the movie stuff, but I’ll wait until some solid developments happen before doing that.  At this point I’d say there’s somewhere around a 25% chance that I’ll eventually make it myself, and if that happens, it would probably be about a year from now (principal photography).

  102. IGOR Says:

Bobby if you gonna make a movie can you include some flashbacks like to show whats happend all over the world and mexico and stuff like that.
And good luck with youre movie.
“she loved the fact that Math killed Hitler”

I think lts of people loved I loved it too

  103. Bobby Crosby Says:

I don’t have any confidence in my work. I hate my work. And I’m pissed off at all times. Big difference between being confident in your work and knowing when a specific thing is factually incorrect.

i gusse the hardest person to convince that something is gr8 is the person who created it. Its gr8 work don’t worry so much. sadly the thing that bothers me the most is the spoilers in the fourms LOL. I dislike spoilers for comics makes it less fun when the plot twists ;)

  107. Bobby Crosby Says:

    SPOILERS –

I’ve said dozens of times that a lot more info would certainly be given in the comic about TFZ and how and why all this happened. I’ve also said many times that we’d hear about it from the man himself (TFZ). That’s coming up soon.

  110. Sakka Says:

So…Cat reffered me to read this comic and I hate her for it…alot. Because i started reading today at around 7pm and I was hooked. It’s 3:45am right now, and many pages slowly loaded [took up to 5 minutes or more sometimes on my wonderufl dial up] and quirky T-shirt ideas later–i finished–a ever so sad and addicted person that is slightly ever so slightly craving more. Please. Amazing art [lol=from the both of you] and great story. Totally a winning team.

  111. Bobby Crosby Says:

    Cool. Good work, Cat.

    New page tomorrow probably.

  112. Sim^moN Says:

…there… you did it again. I sit by the computer, and hit refresh once in a while… If I starve - It will be all your fault Bobby =D

But seriously - see you tommorow then.

  113. Vulcanis Says:

You’ve hit the nail right on the head, that’s for sure. I don’t normally apply labels like solid and concrete to film plans of a comic started on the web, but it certainly does apply here. You’ve tapped into something that creators like Romero, Raimi and Carpenter have perfected so well over the years.

Keep it up, and I very much look forward to continued updates. I also sent you a rather extensive email about the film and how I would like to help. I really feel like this is something you should want and need to hoard for yourself. Finding money for a project like this, with as much credit you have built around it, good reviews, selling statistics, comic flying off the shelves? It is totally a non-issue. There is a reason you have a production company wanting to buy it.

I say, run with it yourself and reap the grand rewards, rather than selling it for a few grand and then later wishing you hadn’t. I’m sure Hollywood can offer us numerous examples of films that were a great idea on paper, that were utterly ruined and soiled by whatever film company took it upon themselves to make it. Not to mention the writers name just totally dragged in mud due to bad movie reviews.

Hopefully I can get in touch with you sometime today. Excellent comic, keep up the good work.

  114. Hevaess Says:

You can imagine at least one of the survivors hearing that last statement immediately started running through the list of who they wanted to repopulate the earth with.

-.0 sorry just a random thought, I stumbled across this comic a few days ago and I can honestly say that it kicks unholy ass with blinding precision.

    Awesome work

  115. Emily Says:

Yeah, I really doubt these are the last humans on Earth on the entire planet…

There are alot of humans on small islands, like the Polynesian Islands, or Hawaii, or on a boat, or a random island in the middle of nowhere! I mean, ok, clearly traversing the ocean isn’t that hard for a Zombie, but there are all sorts of pits and ridges on the ocean floor that would make crossing an entire ocean difficult, unless they can operate boats…. And even still, its pretty hard to smell something over alot of moving water, isn’t it? The wind alone would carry the scent miles away in all directions, so even if they *could* smell it, how would they have any clue where the scent was coming from?

But anyway, they obviously can’t climb trees (as Mac proved), so why don’t we see entire colonies of humans living in massive Swiss Family Robinson-esque tree forts?

  116. Emily Says:

Bah!! But there obviously is a point to repopulation! Even if it is just 30 people… well, we can hope they are from as diverse backrounds as possible… and humanity will be loosing a whole HECK of alot of genetic diversity, but with modern technology keeping them alive, every woman could have a child or two with every one of the men there, or they could have like, 10 kids each in monogamous pairs…

you’d have a limited amount of genetic diversity, but exponential population growth. I mean, say there are 15 women out of those 30 people left. Each of them has 10 babies, you could have the population at close to 200 within 10 years, and then 1000 in another 10 years… over 5000 in another 10….

you’d be set back genetically, but random mutation will restore diversity eventually…

  117. Bloodwrath Says:

I just wanted to say that I’m not exactly a vampire/zombie type of buff, but this story has me hooked. Maybe it’s because both the vampires and the er, Main zombie, seem to have very human qualities about them that allow for a lot of personal and other struggles… usually, vampires and zombies just kill everything, and that’s just kind of boring.

Good job, keep it up! :)

  118. Bobby Crosby Says:

“There are alot of humans on small islands, like the Polynesian Islands, or Hawaii, or on a boat, or a random island in the middle of nowhere!”

Ugh, annoying. There are NO OTHER HUMANS ON EARTH, as I’ve said a trillion times. This is a good example of someone stating something as a fact, by the way, when they’re totally wrong and didn’t take five seconds to do any research before making a long comment that says the comic is saying totally false things. These are the types of comments that I respond to in this manner (”Ugh, annoying”) and then idiots whine and say “Why were you annoyed by the nice fan who simply asked you a question, Bobby, you piece of shit?!” Emily did not ask a question. She stated a bunch of totally wrong things as facts. I’m not upset with her, though, because she didn’t act like a jerk about it like many other people have, but it is annoying when I have to repeat this stuff to people who are acting like their wrong stuff is definitely right, as opposed to nice people who ask questions.

“And even still, its pretty hard to smell something over alot of moving water, isn’t it? The wind alone would carry the scent miles away in all directions, so even if they *could* smell it, how would they have any clue where the scent was coming from?”

Um, we’ve already seen that Math can simultaneously smell things in Denver and Chicago, so why are you acting like “miles away” is some sort of problem? Many many times he’s specifically talked about smelling things from many many miles away. The wind is not an issue in any way and neither is the water. In previous comments I’ve gone into detail on how it’s no problem at all killing absolutely everyone EVERYWHERE. TFZ flies a plane all around the world smelling people out and dropping zombies to kill them and/or BOMBS.

    “unless they can operate boats…”

Obviously they can operate boats, jeez.

“But anyway, they obviously can’t climb trees (as Mac proved)”

Huh? They can definitely climb trees. They can do ANYTHING they could do as a human and then some when they’re specifically controlled by TFZ. TFZ was 50 miles away from Mac at the time, though, and had no interest in killing him at that moment.

And before you make me repeat more crap: As I’ve said many times, including very recently in this comments page right here, all of this will be explained in the comic itself before the first graphic novel is over (soon).

  119. Thrax Says:

good to see there’ a black vampire

  122. Aquamage Says:

i know this has already anwsered and I am very lazy for not going over the comments but how long has it been since TFZ started this war against humans?

Has it been long or in a short time frame?

  123. Bobby Crosby Says:

Um, it’s been answered in the comic itself at least three times, I think –

    http://www.lastblood.net/main/2007/04/23/page-44-timeline/

TFZ bit the girl on the beach in Page 4 on September 29.  It’s now the night of October 30 and the first graphic novel will end on Halloween morning.

  124. Lance Says:

Hey Bobby, I just thought of something. If the Zombies can do what they did when they were human when under the direct control of TFZ. Would one in theory be able to pilot a space shuttle when under his control if they knew how to do it when alive, or would he have to know how to pilot it?

Just a weird thought that popped into my head :P

  125. Moose Says:

Bobby, I adore your sketches. they make me smile as much as the main comic =)

  126. IGOR Says:

I just keep wondering are the vampire hair is fire proof too?????????

  127. Bobby Crosby Says:

Only Addison’s clothes are fireproof, I think. Just because we’re not seeing something burning in two panels that show quick snap shots of what’s going on doesn’t mean they were never on fire. They could have put the fires out before those photos were taken!

“Would one in theory be able to pilot a space shuttle when under his control if they knew how to do it when alive, or would he have to know how to pilot it?”

I’m not sure. Good question. Perhaps they’d retain some of their brain power on those things when ordered to do something. I mean, if TFZ is controlling a guy who’s never golfed before and told him to pick up a golf club and hit a golf ball, he might even miss the ball, but if it’s Zombie Tiger Woods, he’ll hit a great shot. I think. So yeah, maybe a space shuttle pilot would be able to do the job, if he was told to, but in order to actually fly a space shuttle, you need the help of like a hundred people who do specific jobs, so we’re looking at an impossibility here probably.

“Bobby, I adore your sketches. they make me smile as much as the main comic =)”

Cool, cool.  Just spent like 90 minutes on the sketch for Page 82 — it’s a good one, I think.

  128. Baltazaar Says:

Well, just to put my two cent in the pool, your variant of vampirism does not affect the DNA. Remember, folks, this is a theorie unless Bobby prooves it wrong.
So, basically, you have some ladies, who donnate their egg-cells, some of the men, who donnate sperm, and now mister payne (badass of the month, as I just immagined him being played by Vin Diesel, who would probably lack the towering size) scrapes the DNA out of the sperms or egg-cells, and inserts carefully selected DNA into them, untill they get reimplanted in a new mother. I mean, carefulls selected DNA to enhance the genetic variety. The variety would even be greater if the Vampire and / or Zombie-DNA would be unharmed too, because then they could just basically have their pick. you know, fly in some dna from europe, some from Russia…..
Just a theorie though. I mean, after all, we are in the age of artificially produced test tube babies, and I bet payne had his fingers in there too.

To these pesky folks that say the time is to short to kill all people on earth.
Read world war Z. Seriously. Humanity is not prepared, and much less will they be ready for such a thing. Plus, the zombies in World war Z are not even equipped with an intelligent leader. So, just to shut you critics up, it is possible.
to the one who said that at least 8 women are needed:
I know, even I have seen that movie where there is the nuclear war, and all that remains are eight women and over 100 men in the arctic circle. Joox. Keep your movie clichees to yourself.
to the one that suggested sperm banks:
Really, as far as I know, sperm banks rely on having power. To keep their content cool. And if their content gets bad, or even slightly warm, it gets unusable.

I do know what will come. a few pages of Payne, explaining to the survivors what became of the rest of the world. A few pages of TFZ, telling his side of the story.
But I know what I want. Two simple scenes, that will probably look better in the movie. One is the classical “WE ARE DOOOOOOOMED”, preferrably by a male in a squeaky voice, and the other one shouly be Payne and the gang, walking in on the sexy vampiress Val and Murdo, and Math says something like how could you, and the Vampiress again does her “OOOh shit”-face, and Payne bows down and reveals that she was not humping him, but making him into a vampire, and says something along the lines of “Indeed, how could she?”

But I guess Bobby, you are out there, already having made something very much better then that miserable excuse of mine for a storie. Just go for it. if you need hairy vampires, or someone blonde who can sprout a beard, just drop me a mail.

  129. Bobby Crosby Says:

“I do know what will come. a few pages of Payne, explaining to the survivors what became of the rest of the world. A few pages of TFZ, telling his side of the story.”

No plans for Payne to explain anything. TFZ does the whole thing himself, although maybe Payne could help a little, yeah, if he’s still alive at the time (not a spoiler).

“But I guess Bobby, you are out there, already having made something very much better then that miserable excuse of mine for a storie.”

Mine’s very simple and I’m 99.9% sure that someone guessed it in the comments less than five pages ago and I confirmed it, so I’m continually surprised by people continuing to guess. As I’ve said, though, it’s not very important to the story. I’ll say that it’s on the last page of the graphic novel that we find out something about repopulation, something that will help (the case is opened), but it’s left pretty open ended (the repopulation situation, not the story itself).

  130. Arvid Says:

I know it’s nice to theorize around a fictional work you’re in love with, but when the actual writer states something final, int’s final no matter what. Since it’s his own microcosm of a world no “factual errors” will change that. Som e people will always want explanations for everything.

  131. A. Says:

Okay, I could SWEAR that the vampire in the back right corner is Cecania from SoreThumbs… it’s the braided hair. Yay, nay? xD

Loving the comic, it’s fantastic. :D

  132. Krasno Says:

Is the chick vampire in panel 1 naked?

  133. Lord Klingsor Says:

I have forgot to mention the vampire with the long dark hair in the top panel looks like a character of one of my unpublished comics, I hope you won’t somehow sue me for it… :P

  134. Tegu Says:

THIS IS THE BEST PAGE SO FAR!

  135. Dersi Says:

Wow, I just found out this amazing webcomic today and I have been reading in a frenzy.

I am sad im dead (fully destroyed or zombie) since I live in México but as Bobby says there are NO more humans anywhere. That gives the feeling of a last stand in that small place where they are now. And of course why (I think) the name of the comic.

Regarding about the thins that have been pissing off Bobby I agree, if he says something in his comics and gives ideas, well it is for something. These zombies are nothing unlike the crappy ones in popular culture. They seem to retain some sort of muscle memory of what they used to do while alive. That it is as soon they can still physically do things.

TZF and his minions seems to have something live a HIVE MIND, he is controlling them to some extend and they react to what they can do and return a feedback to him. Now that could explain why he could spread the zombie disease so much and so far in just a month. Given that we actually have transportation to any part of the planet. And the swiftness of the attack.

I really, really like this comic is so dark but with so many lets say “colors” if you put feelings that way.

Oh, I was thinking, since only by receiving a bite one can become a zombie and well, most of their physical functions are still active. A zombie could in theory be viable to be used for repopulation.

  136. Trilbydude Says:

    Ooh, hot scything chick!
