I want to know what’s in that case!

  1. woot Says:

    woot first great comic guys

  2. Arvid Says:

yay! i hate it when you find an awesome comic and you run out of material at hand, sidling in with the other starved fans waiting for the next page. But here it is!

    Also, first.
Never done that before. I feel a bit filthy now

  3. Jeff Says:

    First!

    Love the comic! XD

  4. TwinDaddy Says:

First post! Love Last Blood! And love +EV!!! Woohoo First post!!!!

  5. zero harmada Says:

im guessing you not going to bow out with a magic cure or a tactical nuke… so I am kind of curious as well

  6. Jeff Says:

In all seriousness, I really love the comic and it’s a damn shame I live in Canada. I just love the art style and the way the comic is done. Give my thanks to Owen. :)

  7. achrin Says:

hmmm picking out her lunch i see…why he didn’t use the briefcase before now….no zombies on the horizon or so many that they are the horizon …..the light should bring them all to one point and that should be interesting …garlic crossbred with some zombie killing microbe or something to make the zombies smell like live people to each other for them to kill themselves off…. i wonder if addison is going to be really angry with valerie

  8. Bobby Crosby Says:

“im guessing you not going to bow out with a magic cure or a tactical nuke… so I am kind of curious as well”

    SPOILERS BELOW THIS POINT

The thing in the case is not what saves them. Or at least it’s not what saves them in this first film/graphic novel. Also, no nukes or magic cures.

  9. Lydia Says:

Why do people keep thinking they have the first post?

Valerie? Psh, who cares. I wanna see more Devian and Mac. By the way, I hope she’s holding her dress down…..

  10. Bobby Crosby Says:

“Why do people keep thinking they have the first post?”

Because the people who had posts before them were new people who needed their comments to be moderated and I didn’t approve those until the other “First!” people already posted.

“By the way, I hope she’s holding her dress down.”

I hope she’s not. I guess we’ll see in the movie.

  11. Chris Says:

Devan looks amused. Hope she switched to pants if she’s going to be hanging upside down in the air, there are children present.

Mac should get that head wound fixed, looks painful.

When Mac says fighting in the light, should I presume they got spotlights on the roof?

  12. Bobby Crosby Says:

I think he mainly means once the battle goes indoors, which it inevitably would when they’re facing an overwhelming force. Some outside lighting probably, but not much. No spotlights.

  13. Chris Says:

I see. Its logical but depressing to realize that you’re going to be forced back regardless.

That guy in the background of the 2nd panel looks like one of the Dandies from wicked power, a little guest appearance?

  14. Bobby Crosby Says:

All of the vampires involved, except maybe Rage, know that they’re not going to win the battle simply by fighting. They’re going to need something else to happen to have any chance. They just flew in from Mexico and not only smelled, but saw with their own eyes all of the zombies moving in the same direction as the plane, going to the school in South Dakota. There’s literally hundreds of millions (all of the Americas) on the way there. As Math said, millions would arrive by tomorrow. I wouldn’t even bother fighting. It’s pointless. Waste of energy.

  15. Wolfgang Says:

The zombies seem pretty poor at anything other than basic weight of numbers. You stated at one point that they could do anything that humans could do if not more, yet we never see any wielding weapons of any kind, either that or I missed it. I would think a weapon that adds on an extra arm’s length would be pretty good at keeping them back, especially if you’ve got someone to watch your back or a nice area where they can only come a few at a time. Of course, getting back to weight of numbers and the fact that I’m not sure about vampiric endurance levels relative to blood being available and such, there’s probably only so long that can hold out.

Anyway, new reader, loving it and I’m not usually a fan of horror.

  16. Austin W Says:

ther ewill be some dead zombies? right? i wanna see rage ripe off a zombies arm and kill 2 more with it!

  17. Joe Says:

    Well yeah,

I can only agree with most people here, the comic’s just awesome!

And you can’t imagine how much I would love downloading every single episode from wowio so you guys get some money out of your splendid work (and I had all the comics in hi-res with the bonus material), but there’s still no chance for me as I’m living in Germany! Waaah… :-(

Can’t somebody please do something about that?!

  18. The HellJack Says:

Hmmmm…wonder if there is anything that Addison can whip up that would cover up the scent of human blood while it’s still being pumped in the vein.

You know, sort of like that water and food additive you can use to mask the heavy musk odor of pet ferrets.

  19. Brellchild Says:

I think if there was something to cover the scent he would have used it by now. Besides, TFZ has a sense of smell even the best vampires would have a hard time matching - twice Mal’s range or something wasn’t it?

I think the case is the cure for being a vampire. Could be wrong tho.

As to the lights: Every school building I ever saw had some fairly powerful lights on the outside of the building in strategic places for security reasons. If vampire night vision is at all better than human (entirely likely) then even a couple floodlights will go a long way.

  20. Narfen Says:

I like the whole “dress up/down” thingy.. its funny.. funny phuns..

Looking at that briefcase im thinking G.E.C.K (Fallout II).. or something.. would be cewl, and should be within the boundries of “realism”

anyhow.. Love the comic. To bad we cant use Wowio in Denmark yet… then again.. im gonna buy the comic anyways.. Adding it to the collection is gonna feel good..

  21. David Says:

I had a brainfart while reading the spoilers on page 49; The thing in the case, it’s a formula to return humanity to vampires, isn’t it?

First time posting, love both Last Blood and Marry Me, by the way =)

  22. Paul Says:

Just to get my mind straight: How many days have math and Val been with the people from the school?

  23. Cat Says:

Bobby Crosby says: “As Math said, millions would arrive by tomorrow. I wouldn’t even bother fighting. It’s pointless. Waste of energy. ”

Well, I think they’re going to fight some. But I’m now curious to see what is going to happen.

“The thing in the case is not what saves them.”

Well, at least we know they do get saved, although that ruins it a bit. *shrug*

  24. Koil Says:

I’d like to download the pdf via WOWIO, but unfortunately, I am not living in the USA. Is there any other way to get it ?

By the way, keep up the good work. Your caracters are great.

  25. Will Says:

I’m guessing whats in the case is what solves the repopulation problem?

  26. Baltazaar Says:

I think it would pretty much freak me out if a cute asian girl would hang from the roof like that. By the way, is Mac just hurt that Devian has a really powerfull Bra, or is he staring at her boobs?

  27. Nickolai Says:

Ooh! Ooh! Is what’s in the case the same thing that was in Marsellus Wallace’s case in Pulp Fiction???? ;)

If they’re going to go look for Val that means vampire Murdo right? RIGHT?? Man, vampire Murdo is gonna kick so much ass. I wonder if Math and Addison will be pissed?

  28. Stef Says:

    This is pretty damn good
and I don’t even like zombie movies (/stories)

  29. Necavi Omnes Says:

I’m impressed with how fast the pages are coming. Bobby, Owen, keep it up! You have some HxC fans, from what I’ve seen… And I worry that they’ll grow rabid should you keep them waiting. I do not want two awesome artists being lost to impatient fans.

    `Neca

  30. Kris Says:

why do i suddenly feel that Valerie’s doing something unreversible to Murdo? And why does the thought make me wince and smile at the same time?

I adore you guys….you’ve got da skills.

  31. Bobby Crosby Says:

“The zombies seem pretty poor at anything other than basic weight of numbers. You stated at one point that they could do anything that humans could do if not more, yet we never see any wielding weapons of any kind, either that or I missed it.”

You apparently skipped the most important part of what I’ve said (and I’ve said it possibly hundreds of times by now): They can only do those things when specifically ordered to by The First Zombie. Don’t worry — all that stuff is coming up.

“i wanna see rage ripe off a zombies arm and kill 2 more with it!”

You will see Rage doing damage.

“Hmmmm…wonder if there is anything that Addison can whip up that would cover up the scent of human blood while it’s still being pumped in the vein.”

Interesting idea, but that’s not it.

    SPOILERS BELOW THIS POINT

“The thing in the case, it’s a formula to return humanity to vampires, isn’t it?”

Correct, as I confirmed a few pages ago in the comments, so it’s very weird how people kept acting like I didn’t reveal it yet. It’s not very important to this story, though — it’s no big deal. It is NOT what saves them from the zombies.

“How many days have math and Val been with the people from the school?”

About 36 hours now. They arrived on the morning of October 29 and now the sun just set on October 30.

“Is there any other way to get it ?”

Not at the moment. I may do something soon where you could send us the 50 cents per issue through PayPal or whatever and we’d e-mail you the PDFs, but I’m not sure.

“I’m guessing whats in the case is what solves the repopulation problem?”

I’ve said that many many times.

“I think it would pretty much freak me out if a cute asian girl would hang from the roof like that.”

She’s not hanging from anything — just flying, floating.

“If they’re going to go look for Val that means vampire Murdo right? RIGHT?? Man, vampire Murdo is gonna kick so much ass.”

You’ll see on Page 82, and I’ve already spoiled it about a dozen times before: Yes, vampire Murdo.

“and I don’t even like zombie movies (/stories)”

    Me either.

  32. McGurker Says:

Aw man, I knew Murdo was gonna be a vampire from the second he was in front of Val.

I was confused about the “returning vampires to humans” thing at first, why would you want to be returned? Than I got it.

This rocks, and you rock, keep rockin’. Peace.

  33. vo Says:

    ::quote

ther ewill be some dead zombies? right

    ::/quote

Would it be cruel to point out that zombies are, by definition, already dead?

Hey Bobby, If Devin isn’t holding her dress, is she wearing underwear?

  34. Bobby Crosby Says:

Vampires don’t wear underwear in the world of “Last Blood,” so no, she’s not.

  35. baconvein Says:

hmm, mac seems to be leaking from the head. he should probably get that fixed.

  36. KamakaziSparow Says:

Sorry about the typo from before, It was supposed to be: “assuming thas includes those from the last one..” So yeah, as far as I can tell, it is indeed 32 just about the same amount as humans. It looks like it’s gonna be good!

  37. Baltazaar Says:

Bobby, your spoiler has totally saved my day.
Assuming that all goes right, I am going to see three things:
    - Vals Oh shit face
    - Some most brutal action by a very hairy and uncivilised vampire (This is madness….. No, this is (insert school name here) - High
    - Mac and Devian making sweet sweet nerd-fanservice (Daddy, how did you meet mommy? Wel, Son, she met me when I was killing zombies, we went to a tree, talked for a while, and Mommy left me sitting there. )
    - Murdo as a Vampire.

If that is at least halfpast correct…..

    THANK YOU!!!!

P.S. Thanks to you, most of my friends get offended when I giggle everytime somebody says “No, this is everybody”
P.S.S. Did you know that your site has exactly the same numbers of google results as the word proxy?

  38. Bobby Crosby Says:

“So yeah, as far as I can tell, it is indeed 32″

It’s not indeed any specific number. I don’t even know specifically how many there are. It doesn’t matter.

  39. Sakka Says:

I would like to make this public:

HA! TOLD YOU CAT~! VAMPIRE MURDO~!!! bwahahahahaha.

Oh, how i love this comic, another great page.

  40. Orthag Says:

does anyone else think that adison looks quite a bit like Agent 47?

  41. Nekokaburi Says:

Hmmm… Devian’s dress seems just as gravity defying as her anatomy. *cough*

Her face kind of reminds me of China Doll from a webcomic called Commissioned. I think it’s because neither character appears to have eyes. :P (At least none that are ever visible.)

  42. Scarecrow Says:

“does anyone else think that adison looks quite a bit like Agent 47?”
    yes
i think i tried posting that before but it didn’t show up for some reason…
anyway, awesome comic you guys have running

  43. Bobby Crosby Says:

It showed up — it’s on Page 80.

  44. JT Cool Says:

    Dude

Murdo is a vampire? Then that means……….

    VAMPIRE MARINE!!!!

    *Queues battle music*

  45. Marlee Says:

My friend just showed me this site because I’m a huge fan of all things ZOMBIE.

I love the originality, the writing, the artwork… …and I’m off to do some downloading from WOWIO now.

    YES!

  46. timothy Says:

love the story…love the way every thing plays out….want to know were ican get the moves… wish i could download but i just can’t seem to become a menber of the site is there any other way to down load with out becoming a menber?…i don’t need to tell you this but i am going to any ways, keep up the good job.

  47. Mark Says:

heey, great comic, i was just wondering if you could tell me about this Last Blood movie you keep mentioning??

  48. Bobby Crosby Says:

Short version: Planning to make it myself if I don’t end up selling the rights before that.

  49. Micah Says:

On the last page someone commented that all of humanity couldn’t have been taken over in a month. I just did some math and unless I screwed up royally this is what I cam up with: If every zombie bites only 10 people per hour, starting with one zombie, there would be over a million zombies in 6 hours. In ten hours the math over shoots the population of earth at 25 million. Now, even including zombie deaths, distance to travel, etc. with a zombie leader, (as opposed to just a mindless flesh eating horde), It would be easy to see the whole world zombified in less than a week. It’s amazing they have lasted a month as it is.

Next, Bobby: Just wanted to let you know I’m a big fan. The idea of vampires protecting us from zombies intrigued me, and even though I was a bit skeptical (sp?) of the story in the beginning, you really have me hooked. Even with the spoilers I’m still on edge to see what happens next. Also, the art is superb. I can’t wait to read more of your work and see more of Owen’s amazing art.

  50. Micah Says:

I made a mistake with my last post. I meant to say over 25 Billion, not million at the end of 10 hours.

  51. Brellchild Says:

Ergh… Just had a truly horrible thought.

If TFZ is Murdo’s grandfather I have this nasty image af APRIL’s grandfather deliberately putting himself through the same transformation (and coming out of it not long after TFZ) because it’s the only way he can think of to stop his former friend.

Dear lord I hope not. It might work, but the simultaneous levels of horror and bravery involved is giving me a brain hemorrhage as it is…

  52. Bobby Crosby Says:

    MAJOR SPOILER –

(Yep, that’s basically it, but there’s a lot more to it than that. Nice work. Also, it’s Murdo’s great grandpa.)

  53. Erica Says:

I knew there had to be some blood ties when ever murdo knew about the secreat passage from the farm to the school…Well I must admit Bobby you have me hooked…I just want to say that I am not a big Zombie fan but like I said before anything to do with Last Blood I will be a part off.

  54. Lex Says:

Had this thought regarding the previous page “This Is Everyone”
“Math you should have told us how many of your friends were coming over, we’ll never feed all of these people.”

  55. Lex Says:

What’s in the case solves the repopulation problem? Is it vodka?

Lastly ( sorry for the double post btw ) if Devian can fly with no wings, hanging any chothes/shopping bags she has on her in the same anti-gravity bubble would be a breeze. When vampires fly they tend to simply not pay any attention to gravity.

  56. Szyronn Says:

    nice page!
to bad WOWIO is only for American residents….

  57. Brellchild Says:

    Re: Spoilers:

    Eeeep…..

    Holy crap.

  58. Brellchild Says:

Darnit. The system edited out (of my last post) the little sound effects indicating the sudden nervous twitch I’ve developed.

  59. KamakaziSparow Says:

Woah… I just remembered my theory. Since whatever’s in the case can turn vampires back into peeps… then shouldn’t it be able to turn zombies back into vampires? That would be awesome. Then when this is all over, they can use it again, thereby ending the human/vampire ratio problem.

  60. Bobby Crosby Says:

Nah, doesn’t work that way. Only works on vampires.

  61. Brellchild Says:

I suspect for vampires the X ingredient operates in a secondary or support mode. Thus, they are still functionally human and probably still have heartbeats and litle things like body heat.

For zombies on the other hand, the X ingredient seems to mutate when trying to save itself (and incidentally the host) from severe blood starvation. For zombies the X is dominant and has probably replaced most of the host bodies’ biochemical functions with it’s own. Which is to say that zombies *don’t* have heartbeats and little things like body heat (which must have annoyed the modern militaries to no end while fighting at night).

Vampires (if my suppositions are correct) could be turned into humans by purging the X from their systems in such a way that the underlying human biochemistry becomes fully dominant but does not sieze up due to overload.

Zombies would no longer have an underlying biochemistry to restore. If the X can somehow be purged they collapse immediately because there is nothing keeping the body functioning anymore.

Of course all of the above is basically me talking out my backside, but the underlying logic seems to agree with the author’s comments so far.

  62. Brellchild Says:

Hey, maybe the vampire cure works on ‘zombie disease’ too. Moustache Man could still be saved!

  63. renzuko Says:

i believe they already saved mustache man, by cutting off his arm >.>

he only got knicked on the finger, so math cut off his arm, thinking that it would save him, and so far, there is no show otherwise, that it didnt work…of course, it’s been less then a day since he got “bit”, so, who really know’s, except for bobby, if mustache man is gona get zombified lol

  64. Aquamage Says:

is murdo going to be a powerfull vampire? what are his powers going to be? will he be able to fly? or will he just kick ass with super strength?

  65. Bobby Crosby Says:

I’ve said many times that Mustache Man will die and that Math was just playing a cruel joke on him by letting Grady cut off his arm — he knew there was no chance whatsoever of it working. We’ll see Mustache soon.

Only Devian can fly, as Math said recently. He will have super strength, yes. Not all vampires have some special unique power that they get.

  66. Pasta_and_Tacos Says:

    YAY!!! THE PRINCIPAL WILL DIE!!!!

  67. Brellchild Says:

    Awwww.

Every group needs a designated idiot. If MM dies how will they know what the *wrong* thing to do is?

Not being serious. I hope he dies too. Just realized as I was writing the larger post a little back that if the vampire cure was on-site it might be able to purge the zombie infection as well. If an infection cure did exist I can’t see Payne leaving it behind - the gene pool is dangerously small already if you are thinking long term.

Even with the vampires it’s dangerously small.

  68. Bobby Crosby Says:

Minor spoiler: I think I’m writing Mustache Man’s death scene right now, but I’m not positive yet (may change it).

  69. vo Says:

    ::quote

Lastly ( sorry for the double post btw ) if Devian can fly with no wings, hanging any chothes/shopping bags she has on her in the same anti-gravity bubble would be a breeze. When vampires fly they tend to simply not pay any attention to gravity.

    ::/quote

Screw gravity bubble. If she’s not wearing any underwear, then a strategic rip exposes boobies too. so nyah =P

God, I sound like a petulant child in that, don’t I? Quick, someone pass me the vodka.

  70. Necavi D. Omnes Says:

Vo, vodka is for adults. Not for young boys. XP

Uhm… No real comment this time, other than Dev has some seriously awesome boobs.
    Like, fucking amazing.

    … *just noticed*

    `Neca

  71. Brellchild Says:

    She does? I never noticed.

    …whistles nonchalantly…

I think she kinda like Mac given that little smile as she is floating there. Or maybe just the fact that he’s bleeding at the moment.

  72. Lance Says:

    Nice work Bobby.

  73. Wolfgang Says:

“If an infection cure did exist I can’t see Payne leaving it behind - the gene pool is dangerously small already if you are thinking long term.

Even with the vampires it’s dangerously small.”

Well, one thing you have to consider with the vampires is that their genes would date back hundreds or thousands of years, so inbreeding isn’t as big of a problem with that … I think. I’m working with limited knowledge and the assumption that the ‘gene pool’ became more polluted as time went on. After all, we started out with a very small number of people and worked up to the current population. Though for a couple of decades arranged pairings would have to be the norm.

Again, that’s working with limited knowledge so that could be completely wrong.

  74. Sim^moN Says:

    …comic…. I… neeeeeed… comic…..
Making me wait another day for the update….. is just like making a vampire wait 60 years for blooood…. I will become a comic scheamiac if I dont get an update soon….
If it happens - I will kill everyone on earth (specially the other comic authors) and I will leave only Bobby and Owen - and I will force them to make me a comic once a day… for the rest of their lives!!!

    =)

Dont take me to seriously =P

  75. Pasta_and_Tacos Says:

*Stabs previous poster through the heart with silver stake, then throws pickle juice at him* No sheamiac for you.

  76. renzuko Says:

i think bobby said it takes a few weeks without blood to start the change to zombie, so going less then a week without a new comic, wouldnt turn you into a…comic zombie lol

  77. Brellchild Says:

Comic zombie - is that like a Mime zombie?

  78. Redhawk Says:

Wow! My brother told me about this comic last week and I am finally caught up… I have never been a comic person, but this is one of the most engrossing stories I have ever seen - the fantastic artwork is icing on the cake! I even stopped by a local comic shop to see if they had Last Blood in stock - they didn’t, but they’re ordering it for me! WOOHOO!

It would be a tragedy if you don’t get the capital to make your movie. Keep up the great work!

  79. Nuno Teixeira Says:

HOLY CRAP! I just stumbled upon this comic and grinded through it in one sitting (instead of working). As a HUGE fan of vampires and disappointed by many attempts to invigorate the vampire-inclined literature (and films), I have to say THIS comic finally grabbed my attention and dedication.

I look forward to following along, keep up the awesome work!!

  80. Tomas Says:

Maybe there’s blood in the suitcase? For refueling?

  81. steve Says:

I know where Val is…Bow-chica-wow-wow….ok probably not, but I just wanted to say “bow-chica-wow-wow”

  82. Pasta_and_Tacos Says:

    It’s bow-chika-bow-wow, not bow-chika-wow-wow

  83. Austin W Says:

maybe there are sammichs in the suitcase? everyone enloys sammichs!

  84. Necavi D. Omnes Says:

    Austin, don’t be a retard.

    `Neca

  85. DarkAnimeGamer Says:

    Awesome Comic

  86. steve Says:

    P_and_T:
well I’ll be a monkey’s uncle, there’s more than one way to spell a sound…yes, I do realize how reputable Urban Dictionary is, but Bow-chicka/chika/chica-honk-honk is news to me. http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=bow+chicka+honk+honk

  87. Cat Says:

    *looks at page*
    *looks at date*
    *whimper*
    ; __ ;

Anyway. I dunno how great it’d be if you turned all the vampires to humans as then they wouldn’t have all the abilities they need to survive. However, turning the rest of humanity to vampires and then turning them BACK into humans…That’d be an interesting concept. e.0

And I don’t think that the humanity to vampires cure would work for the zombies…I mean, when TFZ bit that girl, did she change into a zombie or a vampire? A zombie, right?

Plus, I still don’t get how MM has 24 hours before he becomes a zombie and yet the little boy only lasted for a few minutes before changing…Probably due to the amount of saliva in the wounds and how many wounds there were, since MM only scraped his knuckles against the zombie chick’s teeth..e_0
    ~Cat

  88. Lance Says:

Probably something to do with the distance between the wound and the vitals. MM’s was on his knuckle, the kid had his throat ripped out. So the kid died and was infected alot quicker than MM.

  89. Marieke Says:

heh, ok, here it goes..; I’m hopping into a conversation on why exactly the zombification-rate is different for people in the vamp/zombie comic where there are no facts to base anything upon… (I must be mad ;)
Hop on, Dorothy, ’cause Cansas… is going bye-bye…

Because the statement; “For Bobby willed it so and Boddy is God in the Comic, and god’s will be done, and therefore…” is too simple and doesn’t really explaines anything, here’s my two cents worth…

You need to be dead to become a zombie, this seems logical. The kid died immediately, eg. he was a zombie right that moment. MM is very much alive. The … let’s call it ‘the infection’ still needs to kill him, before it can take over… I’m betting, if they, say, strangle MM, I’m betting, it wont take him long to get up again. Instant zombification guaranteed on death…

but this brings us back to my first statement, where it is said that Bobby equals God of Comic and therefore, we’ll all just swinging a bat blindly at a figment of someone else’s imagination, while being exactly one bat short of actually having one…

    take care folks ;)

the HummingBird ~ here one moment, gone the next

  90. Brellchild Says:

Cat - The boy stood up again immediately as a zombie because he died while infected. MM is dying from the infection itself. If MM died more or less intact (but not from the infection) he too would immediately become a zombie.

    ***

Sadly, the choice of who among the vampires gets turned human again is going to have one *giant* bias in it. Obviously some will if the cure exists, the only question is how many.

In short the women amongst the vampires are more needed as humans than the men. Aside from the initial time investment of nine months, I very much doubt that it would be safe for them to have children without a gap of a year or so between pregnancies.

Payne of course has to stay a vamp because hie skils are just too valuable to lose. Devian might stick around too unless she passes her bloodline gift of flight along to someone else first - her mobility is going to prove extremely useful in the next century or so.

Hmmm. I wonder if you stay the same age (so to speak) when you get turned into a vamp or if you ‘de-age’ somewhat as time goes on. A vampire who was eighty years old and senile for all eternity is a rather disturbing thought.

Which is not to say that watching friends who were vampires dying in childbirth or of old age will not mess with the heads of the remaining vampires. All kinds of interesting long term psychology they could deal with in the sequels if there are any.

  92. Bobby Crosby Says:

“Plus, I still don’t get how MM has 24 hours before he becomes a zombie and yet the little boy only lasted for a few minutes before changing”

I’ve explained this on almost every comments page. Jimmy got his throat torn out and died from his wounds almost instantly. Once you’re dead and you’ve been bitten by a zombie, you’re now instantly a zombie (after dying). If you don’t receive a fatal wound, like if you just get bit on the finger, you have 24 hours from the moment of the bite before dying and becoming a zombie. Thanks to Marie for explaining it.

About who becomes human again: That’s mostly a question for like 100 years down the line. It’s certainly not going to be answered in this first graphic novel, or at least not in detail. As I’ve said, it’s not very important. It’s just a cool little thing at the very end that gives the human race hope of long term survival, but at the possible expense of the vampire race.

*blinks at response to her comment*
Ah, okay. Erm, I did say that I pretty much understood it, just needed clarification. But thanks ya’ll.

How long are you expecting this graphic novel to be? I remember this being stated, but I can’t remember the number….Bloody hell, I’m being annoying aren’t I?
    Sorry!

  94. Bobby Crosby Says:

It will be 112 pages almost certainly (that’s the maximum). Minimum is probably like 110 pages at this point, but that would be amazing. Fourth issue will be printed in December at 32 pages and the third issue ended on Page 80, and the fourth issue must conclude the graphic novel, so we’ve got a maximum of 112 pages of story, and it’s going to be very tough to fit all of that into only 112 pages, but gotta do it. Very small chance that we’d actually have a page or two left over (meaning it would end on 110 or 111 pages). This also means that we’re going to be doing a ton of pages in the next 7-8 weeks, at least four pages per week.

  95. RayTheRedSpaz Says:

This is awsome. Such a amzing idea, Vampires, Zombies, Head shots. ^-^ i can’t wait for the next one to come out!!!

  96. KayRis Says:

Wow, this comic is AMAZING!!! It’s a little like Dawn of the Dead but cooler because it has vampires in it.

Btw, people probably ask the same questions that you’ve already answered because they’ve only just recently started reading and didn’t read the comments on all the other pages. Anyway, I still love it!!

  97. Bobby Crosby Says:

    Glad you like it.

“Btw, people probably ask the same questions that you’ve already answered because they’ve only just recently started reading and didn’t read the comments on all the other pages.”

    This is obvious, yes.

“Btw, people probably ask the same questions that you’ve already answered because they’ve only just recently started reading and didn’t read the comments on all the other pages.”

I don’t know what this is referring to, but hey, I know how ALL the problems get solved: CLONING!!!!111!!1!

    …just kidding.

    Absolutely sweet comic, man.

  99. Luneko Says:

    Wow.

I have spent just about all my free time (and some time that wasn’t free, oops) for the past three days reading this comic. I would say it’s your fault, Mr. Crosby, that I did not do the reading for my history course and got a poor discussion grade, but I probably wouldn’t have done the reading anyways. Though I would have slept more.

To be honest, it was reading the comments, not the comic, that took so long. I mean… dang. Well, have no fear! If I ask a question that has already been answered, it won’t be because I didn’t read the comments — it will be because my brain shorted out. Again.

Mr. Crosby, this is one of the more entertaining stories I’ve come across. You say that you dislike your work, and I understand that. Myself, I tend to think that everything I write is crap, but for some reason I keep writing and have even chosen to minor in creative writing. And, lo and behold, people say things like, “Excellent dialogue!” and “full of wit and verve,” and then I’m all, “What the hell? ‘Verve’? Should I be concerned? Is it contagious?” But here’s hoping you won’t be all WTF when I tell you that this is one amazing, well-told story. From your comments and the pre-page sketches you’ve posted, I can tell that you have a lot of dedication, vision, and drive, and you’ve put a lot of effort into this. And that effort really shines through in the comic.

Mr…. um, Owen, I’ll tell you right now that I have, in the past, been put off of otherwise excellent comics (intriguing plot, realistic dialogue, solid characterization) by art that wasn’t even all that bad, just clunky or cliche or boring. But THIS, now this is art that I can sink my teeth into. Uh, and I don’t mean that in a zombie/vampire way. I love how you portray the essence of the characters (how they act, move, talk) in a series of still frames. I think your style really serves the story and characters well. And, let’s face it, while Mr. Crosby’s pre-page sketches show great artistic vision, I think we’re all very glad that it’s you and not him illustrating this.

Thanks, you two, for all your hard work. I, for one, greatly appreciate it!

And now I’m going to go back and read the whole thing over again…

  101. Grabes Says:

Bobby, it sounds like you should make a spoilers page. On the top as a link, and then at the begging of every jumble lsiting of comments, reserve the first post and then explain if you have questions, theroies, what have you’s, read the spoilers page first. Cuz for all of us scrolling down page after page after page, ya, it’s starting to become redudant.

That explains why I need a big, tall glass of it every morning with my Cinnamon Toast Crunch.

Hmmm……Bobby, I think you should have a box of Cinnamon Toast Crunch be the delivery system for the vamp antidote

  103. Brellchild Says:

Cloning is out because they don’t have the physical hardware needed. Even if they find it, how are they going to power it?

But what they probably will at least try to do is find anywhere where things like sperm banks and fertilized ova are kept. While it is admittedly unlikely that anything viable survived, the value of even a single freezer full of such is so great for the long term that they would have to try.

I suppose something might have survived for a month on internal power. But this hypothetical storage would also have to survive the zombie horde (unlikely if even one human hid on the premesis), one or more city-wide fires, and quite possibly the aftereffects of a limited nuclear exchange.

On the other hand, Payne is a medical super-genius who had tons of connections before the world went to heck. He almost certainly would know where to look.

  104. Dorth Says:

    First time poster ^^
    Great comic, I love it.
Tell me, what would happen if a vamp was to turn a zombie-bitten human? Would he stay vamp? Would the vamp even succeed? Would the newborn vamp be something like the first zombie?

  105. Bobby Crosby Says:

Grabes: No spoilers/FAQ page, as I’ve said many times. I don’t want to make it that easy for people to see spoilers. If they want to read through all the comments, they can do so. If they want to not read comments and ask repeated questions, like you basically just did, they can also do so and I (or someone else) can repeat the answers. It’s no big deal.

    Dorth: Nothing happens, wouldn’t work.

Luneko: Thanks, buddy, glad you like it.

  106. Wolfen Says:

    AWESOME PAGE :)
I looooove to find updates here :P

too bad they’re the only humans left (I’m mexican, so i’m very sorry everyone in México is dead -cof cof-)

  107. Sun Tzu Says:

Correct me if i’m wrong… but in the first panel of the previous page, the female vampire on the top right corner is a Cecania (Sore Thumbs) look-a-like?

  108. Baltazaar Says:

I think, if Bobby had not told us that anybody is already dead, that there could be some people left underground ( I mean, seriously, I cannot imagine that there were no governments left alive. Come on, look at Switzerland. The mountains are basically a network of tunnels in case all of them need to hide)
And as far as I remember, The smelling ability of vampires seems not to work underground…..
But to not piss everybody off:
Bobby told us that everyone is dead. So……

  109. Brellchild Says:

Look back before the zombie raid that got inside the school through the tunnel. Math could still smell them, just not as well.

The only reason he didn’t smell them in time to stop the raid was that he was passed out from fatigue with his nose right next to April’s heart.

  110. Bobby Crosby Says:

Baltazaar, I’ve seen your name a lot in the comments — have you not paid attention to any of the dozens of times where I’ve explained how TFZ searched them all out and dropped bombs, possibly nukes even, when need be, on survivors? He flew around the world with zombies to drop down and take people out and bombs and everything, and always tons of zombies at his disposal nearby when he’d land a plane and go after survivors himself and so on, of course. It’s not tough. No one survived. Networks of tunnels in Switzerland would not stop him in any way from killing them, just like nuclear submarines also wouldn’t stop him.  And vampires have zero trouble with smelling things underground.

  111. vo Says:

Bobby, I think Baltazaar was just commenting that in a “real world” situation, there would prolly be surviviors. Fortunately, we’re in “your world” and there aren’t any others. I like it better this way.

  112. Sam Valentine Says:

And note the absoloute adorable-ness of Math in panel three.
