October 19th, 2007 at 2:23 am
epic
just epic
October 19th, 2007 at 2:52 am
Truly an original and unexpected plot list. Excellent job, Mr. Crosby
October 19th, 2007 at 2:55 am
Second to last panel was great. Stoic looking guy suddenly snaps.
I’m wondering if Payne is holding on to any hope at all at this point. It looks like he’s seen as the leader but is that what he wanted, if not he needs to let some one else lead because depressing talk like killing yourself isn’t exactly a morale booster. I hope no one else decides to kill themselves.
Two questions
1 How does Payne know about the torture and the motivations of TFZ? he technically didn’t answer the question.
2 If the stuff in the case can turn vampires back into humans(which i believe Bobby confirmed), would TFZ stop since he would have no one left to torture?
October 19th, 2007 at 3:07 am
Bobby, if you do make the movie, I pray you’ll have enough funds for special FX to make the vampire jaws/teeth as close to the comic version as possible. It’s just freaking awesome.
October 19th, 2007 at 3:54 am
The vampires al seem more human now, IMO. Crying. getting pissed and emotional etc. I like it.
October 19th, 2007 at 4:36 am
shoulda seen that comeing!
October 19th, 2007 at 4:54 am
I DON”T WANT NO MOTHERFUCKING ZOMBIES IN MY MOTHERFUCKING SCHOOL!
Heh.
October 19th, 2007 at 4:55 am
Heheh, I wonder where Murdo is right about now.
xD
October 19th, 2007 at 5:19 am
the way the pain is described and how much fear they all had when they heard about 65 years of it…I now understand what you meant by hers is a “special” case. Damn 1 hour,
I’m using that quote now “Because I’m ADDISON FUCKING PAYNE!!”
October 19th, 2007 at 5:20 am
’1 How does Payne know about the torture and the motivations of TFZ? he technically didn’t answer the question. ‘
Payne is referring to the decades of torture through lack of blood that makes a vampire become a Schaemiac (ie First Zombie). Payne is aware that the First Zombie in this instance was originally turned against his own will and decided to starve himself to turn into a Schaemiac in order to get back at the Vampires who made him what he was.
’2 If the stuff in the case can turn vampires back into humans(which i believe Bobby confirmed), would TFZ stop since he would have no one left to torture? ‘
If the vampires turned back into normal humans would they mysteriously vanish? Nope, they would still be there. So the TFZ would not have no-one left to torture, he would still have his revenge on them, ex-vamp or not. If anything being human, while limited at the very least by their normal lifespans, will mean more avenues of torture (ie worse!). And stop to think about it, TFZ became what he is because he was turned into a vampire against his own will. How do you think he would respond to finding the last of the vampires in the world turning themselves back into humans? Personally the best way I would envision it is him going completely ape-shit (as I would presume he would have wanted to have gone back to being human, but as of the time pre-meglomaniac-revenge-scheme there was no option to do so).
In short, no. In my opinion the TFZ would not stop as such.
October 19th, 2007 at 5:33 am
first job is to get rid of the weak ones…second is to organize the ones left…good leadership skills there …i guess the smell is so overpowering they didn’t notice murdos run for fun ….helicopter escape from the roof perhaps…. using the atomic football briefcase strapped to his wrist …that would be an interesting twist.. just guessing on my part..no need to confirm or deny those plot lines hehe…but first get the weak ones to kill themselves off
October 19th, 2007 at 5:56 am
First time posting, long time reader. Great comic, best i’ve read in awhile.
Pardon me if I’m asking a question that has been brought up before, i dont read all the posts people make, sorry I dont have the time.
How would turning all the, once human, vampires back into humans help. Loss of speed, strength, and god knows what will happen when you turn a 200+ year old vamp back into a human, do you go back to being as young and vital as you were when you turned. Or is it like a Dorian Gray aspect, where when you change back, all the years catch up to you? Not only that but also what do you do for the vampires born that way? Do they just kill themselves, cuz I’m pretty sure you can’t be turned back into something you never where in the first place.
If what is in the briefcase is actually something that will turn the vampires into humans, than my next question is a very simple one. Is the Schaemiac still technically a vamp or is he too zombie to even be affected by the “back to human serum”. If he is still considered a vampire, than make a suicide mission to turn his ass back to human and allow the zombie hordes around him to tear his ass to pieces. Than use the remaining vampires to slowly eradicate the zombies, or just let the bastards decay until theres nothing left.
October 19th, 2007 at 6:30 am
It’s a lot like “I’m Addison Payne, bitch!” XD…Hoo, he makes me laugh and I have no idea why….
October 19th, 2007 at 6:54 am
I bet a bunch of the vampires will kill themselves anyway, because ADDISON FUCKING PAYNE told them to.
October 19th, 2007 at 7:07 am
… Addison Fucking Payne has become ten times more Addison Fucking Badass!
October 19th, 2007 at 7:36 am
For some reason I feel that Mr Payne is Mr Crosby’s alter ego
October 19th, 2007 at 7:52 am
intresting turn of events
:) can’t wait
October 19th, 2007 at 8:04 am
Yippee Ki Yay Addison Payne!
October 19th, 2007 at 8:17 am
All I can say is…Wow, I fucking love Addison Payne now
October 19th, 2007 at 8:41 am
SPOILERS
As I’ve said many times, the thing in the case has absolutely NOTHING to do with how they beat the zombies. It is ONLY for repopulation and wouldn’t even be widely used until decades from now probably. The case is NOT EVEN OPENED until the final minute of the film.
“but first get the weak ones to kill themselves off”
Can’t imagine why that would help in any way. There’s like 30 of them against a billion zombies and you want to kill off some of the 30 vampires because they’re too weak??? Stupidest thing I’ve ever heard. They need all the help they can get.
October 19th, 2007 at 8:54 am
I think it would be a good idea to work very fast (well, after the danger is over, of course) on a way to turn animal blood into somethink vampires can drink… Repopulation is great, but it takes decades to be done, and they will exhaust the last humans left long before that. Even a pint of blood every week is too much for the standard human on the long run (and don’t even count on the children for that much).
October 19th, 2007 at 8:59 am
Animal blood will not play a role in any way, and obviously Addison would have tried that already, probably centuries ago. I’ve said many times that the vampires need an extremely small amount of blood to avoid the hunger pains/TFZ turning process. They need like a spoonful once every two weeks basically. One human could feed 30 vampires without trouble, so it’s a dead issue, forget about it.
October 19th, 2007 at 9:48 am
I haven’t really been keeping up to date with reading the comments, so I know little more than what’s been told in the comics So, forgive me for my ignorance if anything I ask is obvious.
Question: How did Sullivan get turned into a vampire? I mean, what motivation would any vampire have to convert him?
(Also, does the vampire that turned Sullivan have any significance in the plot?)
October 19th, 2007 at 9:51 am
SPOILERS
TFZ is not Sullivan Davis. Math is wrong. Sullivan plays a big role still, though. See previous comments pages for more info on that. TFZ was turned by Val in World War II because she was recruting the best soldiers to turn into vampires to help with the war effort. She also turned Sullivan at the time, TFZ’s best friend.

Made sure to order all these comics from Diamond and trying to get some of my regulars to start picking them up. Hope that helps guys. Awesome story so far and as far as I can tell its only getting better. Keep up the good work.
October 19th, 2007 at 10:11 am
Cool, thanks, buddy. I’d say there’s at least a 75% chance right now that the series will continue on past the fourth issue. Look for issue #5 to be solicited for April or May probably, and we’ll most likely go monthly starting then (if we start up again at all).
October 19th, 2007 at 11:43 am
wow, the end was so… cold…
PLEASE I WANT TO BUY THIS BUT I LIVE IN CHILE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
October 19th, 2007 at 11:53 am
lmao that line is the greatest
October 19th, 2007 at 12:04 pm
“PLEASE I WANT TO BUY THIS BUT I LIVE IN CHILE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
You can buy it from me. Follow the instructions here –
http://www.lastblood.net/main/order-last-blood-comic-books/
It’s $11 shipping to Chile, USPS Priority Mail. You should wait about a week, though, because I’m getting a shipment of the third issue soon, so then you could buy all three at once.
And by the way, want to answer something from earlier:
“How does Payne know about the torture and the motivations of TFZ?”
It’s not that hard to figure out. It’s a 100% fact to them that TFZ has been trying as hard as he possibly can to kill absolutely every human on Earth, searching out all of the extremely well hidden people, finding EVERYONE AND KILLING EVERYONE. Not only that, but then he leaves just one group of humans left alive on Earth and he waits to strike until all of the vampires arrive, when they know that TFZ could have easily just dropped a fucking bomb on the school and killed them all any time he fucking wanted. It’s very obvious that TFZ set a trap for the vampires, as Devian says in the first panel here –
http://www.lastblood.net/main/2007/07/31/page-66-the-schaemiac/
The only logical reason to set a trap for the vampires is to capture them in order to torture them. That’s also the only logical reason to search out every last human to kill, really. And they obviously know that TFZ was once a vampire, since that’s how schaemiacs work, the only way they work. Anyway, it all adds up to be basically an obvious fact that that’s what’s going on.
“Payne is aware that the First Zombie in this instance was originally turned against his own will and decided to starve himself to turn into a Schaemiac in order to get back at the Vampires who made him what he was.”
He actually doesn’t know any of that for certain, but he could guess. The WHY doesn’t matter, though. All that matters to him is that it’s happening, that there’s a TFZ out there who is trying to put all the vampires through 65 years of torture. Also, I think I’ve previously said that TFZ was turned against his will, but that actually might not be the case anymore. Hmm — well, no, it probably still is. Complicated situation there.
October 19th, 2007 at 12:46 pm
Murdo is probably outside slaughtering zombies by the dozen. Lol.
October 19th, 2007 at 1:31 pm
He is, yes, and you’ll see that on Page 88.
October 19th, 2007 at 2:10 pm
love that addison scene. he looks like “im super pissed, now shut the f*** up!” and was that rage kneeling?
October 19th, 2007 at 2:12 pm
No, it was the guy in Panel 1 who was kneeling over the dead Caitlyn. Rage is outside killing zombies.
October 19th, 2007 at 2:18 pm
Y’know, this comic does answer one question I probably would have asked. I was wondering if a vampire has a child, is that baby a vampire or a normal human. Guess the baby would be a normal human.
October 19th, 2007 at 2:23 pm
This comic doesn’t answer that, but in the world of this comic, two vampire parents have a vampire baby, as I’ve said recently in the comments.
October 19th, 2007 at 3:03 pm
adison payne scares me now….
October 19th, 2007 at 3:13 pm
Omg that was awesome. I’ve read this for awhile but this is my first comment. I couldn’t stop laughing after Payne said that.
October 19th, 2007 at 3:35 pm
Well, either he gathered them all in one place so he could grab them all and torture them (though it would actually be somewhat HARDER if they’re all in one place, because they can help each other) or he just has a flair for the dramatic and wants them to feel completely hopeless and lost as he bumps off their food supply a little at a time, and corners them like animals.
I’ve heard it said that the anticipation of pain is as effective or even more effective than the pain itself.
October 19th, 2007 at 3:40 pm
Still waiting for the complete metamorphose of a vampire, especially ADDISON FUCKING PAYNE!
October 19th, 2007 at 3:50 pm
OK so first… i f**king love you and your comic and if it wasnt the fact that i cant, i would have your babies for making this series
… ok now onto a thoroughly less creepy sentiment, do we get to know how the original outbreak in Bulgaria is stopped or how it started (aside from the obvious answer of a vampire starved)? and i’ll apologize if thats a repeat but i have only found this series like a week ago through WOWIO… Rock on my friend… Rock On
October 19th, 2007 at 3:59 pm
No more information on the schaemiac in Bulgaria in this first graphic novel. Possibly in future books. I really don’t know anything about it at the moment. Not important for this story. It could probably be a cool prequel down the line, though. They stopped him because the outbreak was contained. As Devian says, the ease of transportation is why they lost this war. It’s a lot easier to stop a zombie outbreak when they can’t travel on planes or cars and when there’s so many less people around in general. He (or she) may still be around, that schaemiac. As we’ve established, vampires can’t smell TFZ (he was right next to Math and Math didn’t even know).
October 19th, 2007 at 4:39 pm
Ahh mann… She really died from that little toothpick? meh.. kinda spoiled my vision on vamps being somewhat thougher than humans.. well.. guess even some vamps just got fangs and lust for blood.. and nothing else special..
Mr. P seems kinda high on himself.. somehow he annoys me.. lol.. wonder when he is gonna bite the bullet ( or chewed to death )
October 19th, 2007 at 5:59 pm
“kinda spoiled my vision on vamps being somewhat thougher than humans.”
They die from wooden stakes going through their hearts. That is all.
“guess even some vamps just got fangs and lust for blood.. and nothing else special..”
Every single vampire would have died from the same injury (wooden stake through the heart).
“Mr. P seems kinda high on himself.”
He’s smartest person ever born.
October 19th, 2007 at 7:20 pm
Yeah, being the smartest person would do that.
So would looking badass all the time. Cause he does. He’s a bald dude in a suit, there are very few things more badass than bald dudes in suits, except bald dudes in suits with swords or kung-fu fighting. Does addison payne actually fight, or does he just get pissed at math all the time?
October 19th, 2007 at 7:31 pm
“Does addison payne actually fight”
Page 87 will answer that question.
October 20th, 2007 at 12:41 am
If Payne means what he says, he’s awesome. If he doesn’t mean anything he says and is just being a sarcastic asshole, then he’s fucking awesome.
Jury says, “Addison Payne is frickin’ awesome.”
October 20th, 2007 at 12:43 am
Owen, draw Addison leaning in a different direction in every panel.
October 20th, 2007 at 5:45 pm
BECAUSE I’M ADDISON! FUCKING! PAYNE!
October 20th, 2007 at 7:21 pm
Im the Goddam Addison Pain?
October 22nd, 2007 at 3:16 pm
did you steal that quote from bioshock?? one of the characters says that before you fight him. “IM SANDER FUCKING COHEN,” is what he says, then he fights you! I still like the idea and love your comic so keep it up, just wondering if that is where you got the idea for that line?
October 22nd, 2007 at 3:18 pm
“did you steal that quote from bioshock??”
I don’t even know what bioshock is. “I’m [first name] FUCKING [last name]!” has been used many times in many different ways. The main thing that inspired me to use it was my buddy Adam Junglen’s nickname of Adam Fucking Junglen (he’s a professional poker player).
October 23rd, 2007 at 5:15 am
Bobby, I have a question Im a little confused about, excuse me if its obvious. The schaemiac (who we normally call TFZ, but for the sake of clarity Im changing that just for this instance) That we have seen up to now (the one hiding in the bushes watching April, the one that came out of the sea, who has half his face eaten and half a head of hair. Is he Sullivan or TFZ?
since they are both schaemiacs walking around at the present time, Im confused which one is the one we’ve been seeing, I thought it was Sullivan but if it is Sullivan then he was the one who came out of the sea.. which means he helped start the zombie out break which makes me wonder other things I dont want you to answer here (I’ll wait for the comic to explain) so I just want to know who we’ve been seeing.
musings now.. no answers needed..
If it is Sullivan I am excited to see what the truelly evil TFZ looks like (I think Sullivan can redeem himself) although I wonder if the vampires suspect that there are not one but TWO schaemiacs.
as for Sullivan, I wonder if he come out when he sensed what his friend was doing/planning and came to stop him? or if hes helping… hmmmmm
Thanks for keeping this up, it has been a fun trip
October 23rd, 2007 at 12:28 pm
We’ve only seen the evil TFZ so far.
October 23rd, 2007 at 4:47 pm
Oh goody
Im hoping Sulli is slightly less decomposed! lol
October 23rd, 2007 at 4:48 pm
sorry for posting a page back, i was reading comments and forgot what page I was on
October 23rd, 2007 at 4:50 pm
No problem.
November 20th, 2007 at 12:42 pm
One of THE best quotes from this entire thing.
Other than the Hitler thing.
That’s still my all-time favorite.
This is so badass beyond belief. can’t…. stop… reading…. aargh….
I will be first in line to see the movie when it comes out. Hell yeah!
November 26th, 2007 at 8:00 pm
Addison Payne:
Panel 3: Calm…calm…calm..
Panel 4: calm…calm…calm…
Panel 5: FREAK OUT!
Panel 6: calm…calm…calm…
Talk about a mood swing!
December 8th, 2007 at 10:43 am
Payne’s fangs in panel five remind me of a metroid for some odd reason.
December 12th, 2007 at 8:57 am
THIS IS THE BEST PAGE SO FAR!
December 18th, 2007 at 7:51 am
I have to agree with a post i read earlier; John Malkovich would be a brilliant Payne, and with that quote you could even thread in a subtle joke to “Being John Malkovich” haha…
And you said this is Act 2 of the movie, does this mean the end is nigh? Because (and if i could remember whose theory it was i would reference them) said that movies were split into 3 acts… So will there only be the 3 acts or are there more to come?
April 11th, 2008 at 12:05 am
Adison payne played my sammuel l jackson no question in my mind
May 23rd, 2008 at 7:17 am
I’M ADISON FUCKING PAYNE, BITCH!
Vinnie jones for payne! ^_^
July 8th, 2008 at 2:57 pm
Panel 5 makes me think of Samuel L. Jackson should play as Addison Payne in the movie
