Page 91: He’s Here
Tuesday, October 30th, 2007I want to see this scene in the movie, when all the zombies are slowly walking towards the school and then at the same time they all start running. Extremely hard to show in a comic and we have limited space as well (must finish by Page 112), but in the movie it would be awesome. The vampires know this moment well because they’ve seen it many times before in the past couple weeks, where seemingly “dumb” zombies suddenly charge and end a battle real quick, on orders from The First Zombie. It’s even more scary when this is the final group, the last humans on Earth, and you might have seconds left to somehow save them and save yourself from 65 years of torture. Do you kill yourself now or do you fight? What do you do when they bring out the chains?
Check out this cool review of Last Blood on YouTube! Do what the scary man says and hop onto the bandwagon!
Last Blood #3 arrives in comic book shops around the world tomorrow, Halloween Day. Buy it.
Interesting note: In the story it’s currently the night of October 30th (today’s date).
Minor spoiler: The story ends on Halloween morning.

I love that vampire. He is the very essence of awesomeness.

Awesome page
October 30th, 2007 at 2:21 am
i love it when they run to lol. he resembles a rabid beast here… i love it.
October 30th, 2007 at 2:27 am
Great page! you guys are doing a great job getting this story wrapped up.
looking orward to the next 21 pages or so!

One of the common rules of fantasy/fiction is once again proven true: Clothing and hair is impervious to fire, explosions and pretty much anything short of slashing weapons :p
Great work, keep it coming guys. I’m just sad to know it’ll end soon
Here’s hoping for a sequel/prequel/anyquel
October 30th, 2007 at 3:20 am
Simply awesome!
October 30th, 2007 at 3:24 am
Sweet new comic.
Love the fifth panel. xD
I suppose I can safely assume that the ability the chains have to hold a vampire is somewhat supernatural?
Unless vampires are just weak against metal chains. xD
October 30th, 2007 at 3:24 am
Now, although I’m sure someone asked this and it has been answered, I’m gonna do it anyway. Are these “chains” normal metal? Do they have some kind of special property that stops the Vampires from escaping? Anyway, its looking good. Keep it up
October 30th, 2007 at 3:31 am
awsome. rage is to cool for weapons!
and ya,i think the chains arent normal metal, either that or they might be silver.
October 30th, 2007 at 3:31 am
“I suppose I can safely assume that the ability the chains have to hold a vampire is somewhat supernatural?”
No, that would be wrong. Just normal chains. Not sure where you got the idea that all vampires are so strong that chains wouldn’t hold them. Devian can’t even carry Mac while flying, but you think she can break free from chains? The vampires can’t die unless you shove a wooden stake through their heart, but that doesn’t make them Superman. In terms of brute force, sheer strength, Rage is probably the strongest vampire, but I’d say that only makes him three or four times stronger than the current strongest man on Earth, which I don’t think would be powerful enough to bust free from handcuffs.
Confused by the fact that none of these questions about chains were asked when Addison specifically talked about being locked up and we saw a shot of him in chains a few pages back, and now three comments in a row act like chains can’t possibly hold vampires.
October 30th, 2007 at 3:50 am
Love it - love everything about it - craving the next page already.
October 30th, 2007 at 4:10 am
this is an amazing page, i would like to see a back story for rage though… good sequel idea.
October 30th, 2007 at 4:16 am
“now three comments in a row act like chains can’t possibly hold vampires.”
No, it wasen’t thinking it wouldn’t hold them, I was taking a guess at it mostly. The fact that you evidently show no remorse or even sympathy for the world you’ve created in your comic blatantly screams out that the Vampires won’t be getting anywhere, but I’d rather ask then assume.
October 30th, 2007 at 4:26 am
“but I’d rather ask then assume.”
I was obviously mostly referring to the person I quoted who said “I suppose I can safely assume that the ability the chains have to hold a vampire is somewhat supernatural?”
“The fact that you evidently show no remorse or even sympathy for the world you’ve created in your comic blatantly screams out that the Vampires won’t be getting anywhere”
Not sure what any of that means. Won’t be getting anywhere?
October 30th, 2007 at 4:31 am
JUst wanted to show appreciation for having this comic up for us.
I remember you saying how the comic has improved since the first 40 (?) pages, and I can tell. When this thing gets wrapped up I’m going to have to give it a reread from the pdf’s I downloaded off Wowio.
October 30th, 2007 at 4:44 am
Great job so far, you’re right though, the Running of the Zombies will look way more intense in the movie. By the way, any news on that? Have you started officially casting, or even started shooting yet?
Also, do vamps get more powerful with age? I know AFP is the most respected, but is that for his intelligence or great fighting prowess? Did that prowess come to him immediately, or over time? Is anyone shown in the comic older than AFP?
October 30th, 2007 at 4:51 am
Search old comments for movie news.
“Also, do vamps get more powerful with age? I know AFP is the most respected, but is that for his intelligence or great fighting prowess? Did that prowess come to him immediately, or over time? Is anyone shown in the comic older than AFP?”
In order . . .
Not simply because of aging, no. Don’t get weaker either, though.
Million reasons, mostly intelligence and how he’s cured so many diseases and such.
Over time.
Probably not.
October 30th, 2007 at 5:08 am
lol the last panel makes me believe that Rage is the root of the were-wolf myth. He looks so feral and badass.
It looks like his hair and beard got longer, first time I spotted it.
October 30th, 2007 at 5:12 am
“It looks like his hair and beard got longer, first time I spotted it.”
Just in case: That’s Eddie in Panel 3, then Rage in Panels 5 and 6. They look kind of similar.
October 30th, 2007 at 5:13 am
oh my bad, totally got them confused
October 30th, 2007 at 5:19 am
Part of an e-mail from Owen last night: “I’m a bit mad at myself for designing both Eddie and Rage with blonde hair, beards, and leather jackets. They look too much alike. Maybe you can make them brothers or something.”
My response: “When you designed Eddie you didn’t know he was gonna have any scenes with Rage or ever appear on the same page as Rage, and there’s only so many different hair colors and types of clothes to go around, so it’s no big deal at all. Don’t think it’ll be a problem. That is one area where it would help if it was a color comic, but I’ve grown to really like the black and white style for ‘Last Blood’ — you’ve made it work really well, especially in the last 45 pages or so. I was going to bring along the big black vampire for the mission, but didn’t want to crowd the truck too much and involve too many characters. Oh well, I’m sure it’s all fine.”
Obviously some people would mix them up, but hopefully it won’t be many, blah.
October 30th, 2007 at 5:25 am
lol well only one so far, and anyone with a bit of perseverence can look at the page before this one. Murdoc is with Rage at the school and Eddie is in the passenger seat of the truck. Simple enough.
October 30th, 2007 at 6:08 am
rage is fuckin awesome
there is no other way to describe him, he is just fuckin sweet.
cant wait for AFP to get in the fight, i wanna see him kill some Zombies
October 30th, 2007 at 6:12 am
Ha! I love this page. The punk vampire looks like he runs like a weenie, but I am pretty sure no one will point that out to him since he is pretty scary looking otherwise.
Rage and Eddie do look similar, but you can still tell them apart. Eddie is not so crazy/wild looking.
October 30th, 2007 at 6:26 am
While I can see where there might be some minor confusion due to the similarities between Eddie and Rage, I had no trouble telling them apart. Their demeanor is totally different.
I look forward to finding out the reasons why TFZ did all this.
October 30th, 2007 at 6:56 am
I love the idea of all the zombies charging. It’s kind of like the story in a microcosim… everythings coming to a slow boil and then all of the sudden BAM it all happens. I’m sure it’ll look amazing on screen
One question: The group that Sullivan Davis is controlling, are those zombies that he took control away from TFZ, or did he kill those people (or kill one and have him kill others) in order to make his zombie militia?
October 30th, 2007 at 7:07 am
I think Bobby said that SD made his own fighting force which is why his is so much smaller than TFZ’s. TFZ had a three day headstart on the zombifying the world part of his plan.
As much as I’m looking forward to the upcoming fights. With the time page restraints, Bobby and Owen are going to probably be focusing on getting the story as tied up as possible.
Pity, I’d love to see the look on the vampires’ faces when SD’s forces start helping them against TFZ’s.
October 30th, 2007 at 7:12 am
“Rage is probably the strongest vampire, but I’d say that only makes him three or four times stronger than the current strongest man on Earth, which I don’t think would be powerful enough to bust free from handcuffs.”
I think that might be off. I’ve heard of people that were capable of breaking free of handcuffs. And I just looked around and I found a few mentions of it happening.
October 30th, 2007 at 7:16 am
Allow me to reiterate…
I love Rage.
October 30th, 2007 at 7:23 am
Math looks…calm. Like he’s at the point where he knows he just needs to take care of business.
October 30th, 2007 at 7:28 am
Not particularly important but , bobby the current worlds strongest man could easily snap handcuffs, its the cutting into the wrists thats the main problem when trying to bust open such things ( vampires wouldn’t have that problem )
But chains for sure would hold a vampire, think of chains used to pull cars and what not atleast 3 tons of pulling force goes through them with no hassle.
Anyways just a little offtopic chain chat :p
Nice update though runing zombies are fun
October 30th, 2007 at 7:34 am
I know it’s not really important to the story, but where was A.F.P. born? not many places in the world around 80 B.C. that would name someone Addison Payne that I’m aware of. Just curious. As always, awesome comic.
October 30th, 2007 at 7:42 am
““The fact that you evidently show no remorse or even sympathy for the world you’ve created in your comic blatantly screams out that the Vampires won’t be getting anywhereâ€
Not sure what any of that means. Won’t be getting anywhere?”
In simpler english(Sorry, I use big words out of habit) You don’t seem to really care about the lives of your creations in this comic, you seem to be willing to kill anyone off to get a few laughs and end up laughing yourself. Its quite good, most people cannot just kill off characters after developing them enough to give them character, other then person A) and person B) who are just there for the soul purpose of dying. As for the “Their not going anywhere bit” I was saying it wouldn’t surprise me to see the vampires being shackled and chained in the end with nothing but the stench of despair to keep them company through the next 65+ years.
October 30th, 2007 at 8:09 am
I feel another zombie slaughterfest coming up
Haven’t read any spoilers so far, so I’m really excited about the ending of this.
Good job
October 30th, 2007 at 8:14 am
Awesome update - terrific panels, every one! First one - I love the way Math is crawling out from under the truck and saying “Yup, he’s here” (not exactly verbatim there, sorry) Then there’s MOHAWK POWER guy running off after the Charge of the Zombies at the Battle of The First Zombie (and The First Zombie, Too) at the School; and, of course RAAAAAAAAGE!! “I love it when they run!” and I love that look on his face as he lands square on the backs of two zombies and rips their heads off . . . MUAHAHAHAHAAH. Beautiful! You guys ROCK and I’m with everyone else in saying I hope that once you finish this story you give us a sequel/prequel/anyquel
October 30th, 2007 at 8:53 am
The Zombies all appear to be screaming…
October 30th, 2007 at 9:55 am
Rage is scary o_o. Love this page, though a bit disappointed because I wanted to see more of TFZ xD. Like always, Math’s expressions are awesomely drawn. Oh, and lol, Eddie’s licking his hand! xD Really want to see the scene the zombies start running, it looks great in my imagination and it would probably look better on screen *drools a little*. Awesome page as always!
October 30th, 2007 at 10:14 am
this is about to end… o… bobby, I make comics too (on real life not internet) and let me give you an advice, don’t make sequels, make new stories or it will happen the same that happened to final fantasy VII, it had so many sequels, prequels, anyquels that is just starting to annoy people, a new story would be good ^^
October 30th, 2007 at 10:43 am
Simply gorgeous…. hairy blonde vampires charging with ferocity.
OOh, and disregard Pablos advice….. Unless you are about to give out what has happened to the people in the school, what the stories of some vampires were, and how the romantic cupling between certain mortals and vampires is going (and what stands on that damn paper), there will be certain people willing to find out where your location is, abduct you, and bite you so long untill you finish the open endings.
by the way, Final fantasy still sells like beer at the oktoberfest, and I think now that Bobby has the fanbase, he deserves to get the rewards in the form of much cash from sold comics, films, and perhaps a videogame…
October 30th, 2007 at 11:18 am
a vampire with the intelligence of payne and the strength of rage…THAT would be awesome
October 30th, 2007 at 11:26 am
ok first off want to say that this comic is really bad ass and i love it and look forward to the last portions of the comic. second i just wonder about what to me seems like a laps in judgement on AFP. why didn’t they get on some large boat in the ocean. i’m just trying to figure out how the zombies that cna’t swim would board a boat in the middle of the ocean. sorry jsut felt like ranting about that and been wondering why. oh well. keep up the good work
October 30th, 2007 at 12:35 pm
This kicks so much ass it’s insane. Also, I just had to say, Rage reminds me a lot of Sabretooth as he appeared in the X-Men movies. Sabretooth was played by Tyler Mane, a former pro wrestler. Coincidence? *lol*
October 30th, 2007 at 12:42 pm
I am not saying that final fantasy is not sold, but all those sequels of final fantasy VII are really annoying a lot of people anyways do whatever you want bobby ^^
October 30th, 2007 at 12:47 pm
Ah, I appreciate the clarification.
I’m just one of the many who assumed he thought of something clever, but hadn’t. xD
Now I feel stupid, yet enlightened. Thank you. ;]
October 30th, 2007 at 12:53 pm
Sorry for the “double-comment”, but I just thought of another “clever” thing.
If Rage loves pain so much, I figure he should escape Evil TFZ and hide himself away. After 65 years of that wonderful feeling he loves, he’ll become a “vampire zombie” (Schaemiac?), and then maybe be able to fight Evil TFZ on even ground.
Of course, everyone else would be either a zombie or locked away for eternity, and there would no longer be any hope left for the human race.
But at least Rage would have the time of his life. xD
October 30th, 2007 at 1:09 pm
“I think that might be off. I’ve heard of people that were capable of breaking free of handcuffs. And I just looked around and I found a few mentions of it happening.”
They’re obviously going to chain them up in a stronger way than just a pair of handcuffs, as the flash we saw of Addison locked up already hinted at.
“not many places in the world around 80 B.C. that would name someone Addison Payne that I’m aware of.”
You knew a lot of vampires back then? I have no clue where he was born.
“I was saying it wouldn’t surprise me to see the vampires being shackled and chained in the end with nothing but the stench of despair to keep them company through the next 65+ years.”
I guess you haven’t read many of the comments, where I’ve said a trillion times that the good guys win.
“The Zombies all appear to be screaming…”
That’s because they’re screaming. Another reason why it would be a lot cooler in the movie.
“bobby, I make comics too (on real life not internet) and let me give you an advice, don’t make sequels”
I’ve been laughing for a while after reading this.
“If Rage loves pain so much, I figure he should escape Evil TFZ and hide himself away.”
Um, that doesn’t make any sense. TFZ’s goal is to give him the 65 years of torture anyway, so the only way he’s not getting the torture is if he kills himself, and he also loves killing zombies, so he’s not gonna go hide when there’s tons of zombies to kill. He’s also very loyal to Addison Payne and he wants to save the humans and his fellow vampire friends. Rage was a human less than 20 years ago.
October 30th, 2007 at 2:05 pm
Again Mr. Crosby Great comic. I am curious I am a bit of a zombie and gun nut I blame George romero my zombie addiction anyway I am curious what type of weapons are the Humans using..Here in montana we can buy ar-15s and Civi copies of the aks fairly cheap and common I own a Chinese civilian conversion good rifle anyway…. What types of weapons are you having them use just out curiosity and to nit pick a little.
October 30th, 2007 at 2:14 pm
“Great comic.”
Thanks, buddy, glad you like it.
I know nothing of weapons, so I’m gonna e-mail you for advice if that’s ever necessary. To answer at least some aspect of your question, though, the humans were mostly just using Murdo’s sniping to kill the zombies, since very few even came around and they wanted to kill them at a distance, of course. They didn’t have much ammo when shit went down a month ago and they were too late to buy any when they got to town. Murdo was a marine sniper and he continued to enjoy shooting after his service was done, so he had a decent amount of ammo for his sniper rifle (no clue what kind), but it ran out the day the vampires showed up, as seen in the comic.
October 30th, 2007 at 2:15 pm
Zombies and all that.. dead/rotting so on so forth. I must admit I didnt really thought they were able to scream… Cant wait to hear what that sounds like in the movie
something else:
Wouldnt zombies decompose overtime naturally? not that it matters in the comic, as they are already at the school, but in theory if they could have remained hidden/on the run or something? Else I would guess that, jsut as the Vamps can only die by a wooden stake through the heart, Zomebies dont just rot up and “disappear”.
Devian will take 2 juveniles with her somewhere if everything fails at the school. Wouldnt that be a “safeplace” where TFZ/EFZ couldn’t find her/them?. I wouldn’t imagine AFP’s back-up-plan to not be carefull thought out, just curious.
October 30th, 2007 at 2:16 pm
Narfen: Search previous comments for the answers to all your questions.
Also, somehow missed this earlier –
“second i just wonder about what to me seems like a laps in judgement on AFP. why didn’t they get on some large boat in the ocean. i’m just trying to figure out how the zombies that cna’t swim would board a boat in the middle of the ocean.”
LOL. The zombies can obviously swim and do anything the fuck they want when controlled by TFZ, as the comic itself has already made clear many times. Anyway, I’ve answered this about a trillion times. TFZ flew around in a plane dropping bombs on humans that he smelled out in the past couple weeks. If the vampires took the humans out onto a boat, TFZ would drop a fucking bomb on their heads and kill all the humans. There is NO ESCAPING HIM obviously.
October 30th, 2007 at 2:22 pm
““I was saying it wouldn’t surprise me to see the vampires being shackled and chained in the end with nothing but the stench of despair to keep them company through the next 65+ years.â€
I guess you haven’t read many of the comments, where I’ve said a trillion times that the good guys win.”
No, I’m not an optimistic kind of guy, as much as I like the characters, I would love to see them die/rot/live eternity as blood starved Vampires. But, if the good guys win, meh, thats life. Can’t wait to see how it goes down(I tend to skip spoilers)
October 30th, 2007 at 2:28 pm
Well some of them definitely die, but not all of them, and none of them get locked up for 65 years.
October 30th, 2007 at 3:20 pm
i love the comic, but please, please put a chainsaw in somehow, if only for pure badnessess, to whom ever weids weilds it.
October 30th, 2007 at 3:52 pm
I just found out about this comic a little while ago and it’s the best I’ve seen in a long damn time. Great stuff here.
October 30th, 2007 at 4:33 pm
“That’s because they’re screaming. Another reason why it would be a lot cooler in the movie.”
Sorry, that was a mixture of me stating the obvious and remarking that it was rather cool. I need to stop trying to convey tone in these things (on the other hand I’m a writing student, so the fact that I can’t is kind of sad…)
Great comic, though. Dreading the end, although I’m looking forward to se/prequels. I’m reading through the comments to catch anything I missed, and I love the direction you’re taking the story.
October 30th, 2007 at 5:12 pm
Don’t sweat the Eddie/Rage thing, I only tripped once a few comics back and haven’t since. The current thing with Eddie looking hippyish and Rage looking more like a wolfman should do the trick IMO.
October 30th, 2007 at 5:57 pm
Sweet monkey Jesus, I love Rage
October 30th, 2007 at 7:28 pm
what do you do when you have to finish the job… bum rush the stage
October 31st, 2007 at 9:17 am
“TFZ flew around in a plane dropping bombs on humans that he smelled out in the past couple weeks.”
Bit of a deus ex machina, there. Zombies in planes = no fucking sense whatsoever.
October 31st, 2007 at 9:26 am
“Narfen: Search previous comments for the answers to all your questions.”
Yeah sry.. just read it on page 84.. and hear I thought I read all the comments.. hmpf
October 31st, 2007 at 12:09 pm
“Bit of a deus ex machina, there. Zombies in planes = no fucking sense whatsoever.”
LOL. Have you heard of The First Zombie? Have you read Page 32? Did you hear anything Addison said recently at all? He isn’t just a damn “zombie” — he’s retained full mental capacity and retained his vampire powers. He can do anything the fuck he wants, which is how he’s killed almost everyone on Earth. If you somehow have a problem with him flying planes of all things, then you should have an even bigger problem with him controlling all the other zombies with his mind and the million other things he does that are very un-zombie like. So many idiots read this comic.
October 31st, 2007 at 12:19 pm
Question: If a human gets bitten by a zombie, say Mac got bitten, could he be changed into a vampire to save his life or is it too late?
November 2nd, 2007 at 7:18 am
“Zombies in planes”
I’m sick and tired, of these mother fucking zombies. In these mother fucking planes!!!!
November 6th, 2007 at 11:02 pm
Bobby, I have a question. What happened with the animals on the planet? Can animals be zombified? Can we expect to see a horde of undead elephants charging the school anytime soon?
November 8th, 2007 at 9:32 pm
Great comic man! Mac is like the ultimate bad ass. He’s not as strong as the other guys has worse endurance, but he managed to escape thousands of zombies to get supplies and is holding his own in this battle as well. Rage may be awesome, but Mac is the bravest guy out there.
Cheers

THIS IS THE BEST PAGE SO FAR!
March 10th, 2008 at 5:00 pm
I say he jumps, like, real far.

Is rage slaaneshi?
