Page 93: Bald Heads

Saturday, November 3rd, 2007

I think this is the fifth or sixth time that Grady has yelled “Mac!” That would be the drinking game for the movie — take a shot every time Grady screams “Mac!”

  1. Kalara Says:

Nothin’ like a pile of dead zombies!

  2. Unati. Says:

Noooo! I was hoping to up my number of first comments to three. xD
Ah well. I just always seem to check at the right time, you know?

  3. Cookie Says:

Yay new comic!! Rage looks very demonic.. very cool
haha damn.. every new page its easier to see what an awsome movie this would (will :D?) be!

Good on such an awsome comic :)

  4. K-man Says:

This comic is nothing but superb :]

  5. Lydia Says:

How shameful. You told me when this would be up and I still didn’t comment first. Hm, been a while since I commented, or so it feels.

I like this page, so I’m commenting:

    I like it.

  6. kevin Says:

a wall of dead (really dead. not eating brains again) zombies…..

how do you keep commming up with new levels of WIN???

  7. BMB Says:

So….do humans turn into vampires when they get bitten in this comic or do they just die?

    ONLY JOKING!

Great comic, easily in my personal top 3 of must reads as soon as my computers running.

  8. Wolfgang Says:

Yay! Pile of dead Zombies for the win. Of course, the problem with just killing them at the top is that they’ll just keep coming, then you’ve got the problem of them reaching the roof that way.

  9. Bobby Crosby Says:

“Of course, the problem with just killing them at the top is that they’ll just keep coming, then you’ve got the problem of them reaching the roof that way.”

    Page 94 addresses this.

  10. Kenny C. Says:

Yeah, but if you continually move the fight farther away from the school, you can both keep the high ground AND keep making the corpse heap bigger! It’s a win-win situation, and a fun-fun situation! Hooray corpse heap!

  11. PsychoP Says:

    I just love Rage… :D:D:D

  12. Dorth Says:

Yay! Excellent one again. But just wait for some of them to worm/tunnel themselves through the pile :( Not as if they needed air to breath :(

  13. mariered Says:

wow. that pile happened fast! (I don’t think that’s bad, I think thats AWESOME). I’m wondering how many days of fighting it’ll take before the vamps need a snack…
BUT WAIT! Having read the comments I know that the fight won’t last that long! So the question is moot!

    Moot. That’s a good word.
    And this page is rockin’.

  14. McGurker Says:

    Hard…core.

    Rage rocks for life forever.

  15. Pablo618 Says:

well, the vampire killing a zombie with a UZI was really surprising (it was a UZI, right?)

  16. Kimmie Says:

Awesomely done comic! Grady’s doubt as he saves Mac, Rage looking like the physical embodiment of RAGE, Math casually lopping off a head while he outruns the zombies behind him, and pretty girl vampire feeding her sword to a zombie, AWESOME!

I wonder, if I grabbed a zombie skull and made some dentures from it, would the teeth still have the power to zombify a human?

Picturing puppets of death with real zombie teeth, or the man who was given zombie dentures who gently bites his girlfriend and then his own tongue.

Oh yes, fear the zombie teeth that I seed in my mischief!

Imagine years from now, after this is over, when a kid finds a zombie tooth and accidentally cuts himself with it. REPERCUSSION ENSUE FOR YEARS!!!

    I love it!

  17. Ian Lee Says:

Awesome page guys. And I Got The Retailer Incentive Sketch Variant. Now that sketch cover is awesome. Keep up the good work.

  18. Necavi D. Omnes Says:

    Whoo.

    Uhm.
    Go Math. *waves flag*

    `Neca

  19. Justin Says:

Think of this on the other end if you really want to cause trouble TFZ could have preserved some zombies in vats of rum/some sort of preseitive. Or chained some down in a deep cold anaerobic environment (no rot) They pulled up a a wooden boat that sunk in roman times from the (dead sea i think)

  20. Abrak Says:

Every time I see Bobby’s sketch I appreciate the wonderful work that Owen does in all the pages.

You both form a very good team.

  21. Austin W Says:

awsome. him shooting the zombie 3 inches behind mac. this comic is made of win and leet

  22. Szyronn Says:

he has missed a lot of fun but there is a LOT more fun coming:d
    (y)(y) love this page
nice details on the zombie pile

  23. Snake Says:

all hail rage, the pure figure of crazy badassness

  24. Al Says:

“Yeah, but if you continually move the fight farther away from the school, you can both keep the high ground AND keep making the corpse heap bigger! It’s a win-win situation, and a fun-fun situation! Hooray corpse heap!”
Considering what Mr. Crosby said, is it possible that TFZ would like to perform a psychological tactic of trapping the Vampires on the mound and then attacking the school in front of their very eyes?

I imagine that attacking the civilians that way would make everyone panic and do stupid things. ;)

  25. Fink Says:

To the guy talking about zombie dentures and the guy talking about anaerobic climates… aren’t you both forgetting that the are powerless without TFZ?

  26. Wolfgang Says:

“Yeah, but if you continually move the fight farther away from the school, you can both keep the high ground AND keep making the corpse heap bigger! It’s a win-win situation, and a fun-fun situation! Hooray corpse heap!”

No, not win-win. As you try and move the line forward you spread your forces thinner, allowing a greater chance of a zombie slipping through, and as has been said so many times before: it only takes one.

  27. Grym Says:

I love the last panel, with the shadowy and slightly skeletal zombies with glowing eyes shambling over the pile.

  28. Lance Lostblood Says:

Y’know, I didn’t realize it until just this page, but why are the majority of male the zombies bald?

  29. Jesse Says:

I imagine that even though all corpses aren’t bald after a month, it would interfere with the panel too much to draw scraggly hair on all of them. Also a stylistic choice, I’m sure.

  30. Steve Says:

The expression on the zombie’s face when Grady shoots it is great.
“AW NO U GUYS IM DEAD”

  31. guzman231 Says:

First time I post in this comic :P

the art is so much better on this page, math running sixth pannel is so cool!!

  32. I_am_Legion Says:

Pablo618, you asked if the weapon used by the vampire in frame six was an UZI. Its size makes me think more along the lines of a MAC-11, which was chambered for the .380 Auto. I would say a MAC-10, but that thing looks a wee bit on the small side.

  33. Bumtown Says:

Time to play King of the Zombie Mountain, bitches!

  34. Teardropcatcher Says:

Wow, a corpse heap! This comic is so awesome, I sometimes think something’s wrong with it xD. Great job on this page, I’m still laughing. Zombie mountain! ‘Nuff said. XD

  35. Dan Says:

some kind of 300 joke is applicable here

  36. Smap Says:

Such a sick drawing of Rage

  37. Strawhenge Says:

    Mac is teh shitz0rz.

  38. JT Cool Says:

Reminds me of the wall the Spartans and Arcadians built in 300 to fend off the Immortals.

    Weird Deja Vu huh?

  39. Vasili Says:

” Reminds me of the wall the Spartans and Arcadians built in 300 to fend off the Immortals.

    Weird Deja Vu huh? ”

    Thats madness.

  40. Endless Says:

    “random vamp does work” heh

  41. Jon Says:

    “November 3rd, 2007 at 2:10 pm
I would say a MAC-10, but that thing looks a wee bit on the small side.”

Looks like a Steyr TMP chambered for 9mm to me, no silencer of course.

By the way … love this strip.

  42. taltamir Says:

wouldn’t the zombies, being a kind of vampire, need a stake in the heart to die?

  43. Micah Says:

I think that’s the coolest pile of dead bodies I’ve ever seen.

  44. Bobby Crosby Says:

“wouldn’t the zombies, being a kind of vampire, need a stake in the heart to die?”

Only The First Zombie has anything to do with vampires. All the others are just regular zombies.

  45. Lex Says:

Hey, Bobby, I love the comic. It’s got such an awesome combination of ideas and genre … just mind-blowing ( pun intended ). And the little girl vampire with a zombie mouth-skewered on her sword is cool.
So honest question … Mac. This dude, so good with his axe. Was he like 2 weeks off going postal all over Dekota then the zombies attacked so he found an outlet?

  46. Lex Says:

How does Mac achieve Improved Cleavage x 199 PWND Damage vs Zombies ??

  47. Bobby Crosby Says:

Lex: Mac is just awesome. He has experience with an axe and he’s also a good golfer. I imagine Tiger Woods would be good at chopping off zombie heads. Tiger’s also younger and in better shape than Mac, but Mac can hold his own. Also gotta keep in mind that the zombies are on orders at the moment to simply wear out the vampires and they aren’t really interested in killing humans right now. (More on that in the coming pages.) If TFZ told the zombies to kill Mac, he’d die instantly. I’m sure Mac is impressing TFZ right now.

  48. jon Says:

One thing i really enjoy about this comic is the camera angles. They are very intense and show the action in amazing motion.

To be honest i kind of don’t want this to be a movie ( thats more of a personal preference i prefer comics/novels to movies) I just feel to much is lost in movies although i kind of would not mind seeing this animated that would suit the story more IMO. just my 2 cents.

any way the story and the action just keep getting better. The good guys are making easy work of the zombies for now but this seams to be just the tip of the ice burg. Quick question, the zombies that are hitting the school i take it are all from north America and south America right? Or did the undead from the other continents cross the oceans like TFZ did ( i doubt they swam that would require far to much coordination for necrogenic flesh )

  49. jon Says:

^^^not nit picking just trying to get a scoop for exactly how many zeds are attacking right now ;)

  50. Bobby Crosby Says:

“I just feel to much is lost in movies”

A trillion times more is gained.

“the zombies that are hitting the school i take it are all from north America and south America right?”

Over 99% of them at least.

“doubt they swam that would require far to much coordination for necrogenic flesh”

Again, the zombies can do anything they did as humans when instructed to by the first zombie, and a command as simple as “Swim across the ocean” would be easy enough to give to millions at a time, although he’d have to hold onto that thought the whole time they’re doing it, so that wasn’t done, no, but it was certainly possible.

“trying to get a scoop for exactly how many zeds are attacking right now”

    http://www.lastblood.net/main/2007/08/21/page-70-on-the-move/

Math says, “Thousands will arrive by nightfall, millions by tomorrow.” Also, Page 94 takes place a few hours after Page 93 (gonna see a bigger pile).

  51. ocean Says:

did the dog die? i haven’t seen it in a while.

also i’m curious whether that gun is actually called a MAC whatever because that would be pretty cool, grady shooting the zombie next to mac with a MAC. ha…

    x.

  52. ocean Says:

oh and the zombie math kills in this page has long hair, in response to all the bald headed speculation.

    x.

  53. Bobby Crosby Says:

    “did the dog die?”

Dog’s alive. Originally planned to do more with Rex, but probably won’t now. Will see him at least one more time, though, I’m sure.

“grady shooting the zombie next to mac with a MAC.”

I don’t know anything about guns, but they were talking about the weapon used in Panel 6, not the weapon Grady was using.

  54. ocean Says:

oh man i didn’t even notice that one! that’s odd.

nice work, you two must have struggled through this, it looks to have been a pretty rough grind. i guess you don’t really care about the little compliments your readers give you but i really appreciate that you’ve done this. last blood is insanely good.

    x.

  55. Bobby Crosby Says:

Thanks, buddy. Compliments are always nice.

  56. Pasta_and_Tacos Says:

I just realised something. If I was one of the survivors, I wouldn’t be able to wear my “Bite Me” shirt. Dang it, I love that shirt.

  57. Nova Strike Says:

Gotta say, love the comic. Sadly, too broke to buy it. Look forward to the movie–one of the rare times I’ll probably catch such a flick! ;) Looks better than Underworld. :D

  58. Katy Says:

    ZOMBIE PILE!! wOOt!
BTW, who else that is forced to take part in the asinine ritual that is called Daylight Savings forgot to “fall back” last night?

  59. JT Cool Says:

Aw feck I forgot about that thing.

Worthless daylight savings time. SCREW YOU DAYLIGHT SAVINGS!!!

    Grrr grumble grumble.

I think if I was a survivor I would prepare my own homemade explosives.
Equal parts Frozen orange juice and gasoline will make Napalm.

    Come on come on.

  60. jon Says:

“Math says, “Thousands will arrive by nightfall, millions by tomorrow.” Also, Page 94 takes place hours after Page 93 (gonna see a bigger pile). ”

millions are better then billions i gusse ;)

btw i will be picking up issue 3 at the comic store on wedsday heh i have hooked like 3 people at work on it that don’t buy comics normaly.

  61. Art Says:

    Yes, I’m nitpicking.

Consider, if you will, that zombies are now the biggest source of protein on Earth. Without the ability to use tools and only minimal ability to coordinate, zombies would represent tempting prey to every predator on earth.

Of course, on land carnivores have been to reduced to such small numbers that the only realistic danger is from domesticated dogs gone feral. However, there’s still plenty of carnivores in the sea. A swarm of swimming zombies would very quickly become a giant bait ball.

Coupled with the inherent corrosive effects of seawater; zombies could not, in fact, swim across an ocean.

  62. Masq Says:

A drinking game! Sweet! I accept!

  63. Bobby Crosby Says:

“zombies could not, in fact, swim across an ocean.”

#1 — They wouldn’t need to, since they could have any boat (s) they want. #2 — No, you’re wrong, they definitely could swim across the ocean with TFZ’s help. He could easily fight against any of the problems you mentioned.

  64. ocean Says:

“zombies could not, in fact, swim across an ocean.”

i’m pretty sure you can’t put scientific logic to things that don’t exist. no-one told you zombies didn’t develop acid protection. and as for the bait thing, i’m pretty sure a zombie’s flesh would be poisonous or something. i mean look at them.

    x.

  65. Bobby Crosby Says:

“as for the bait thing, i’m pretty sure a zombie’s flesh would be poisonous or something.”

As far as the bait thing and the corrosive seawater thing, they can all be wearing wetsuits and armor over those and they can shoot guns at anything that tries to eat them (or whatever else they want to protect themselves). Once again, when TFZ tells them to do something, they can do anything that they could do as humans. By the way, THIS is what will start off another big argument from total fucking morons who will say, “LOL, this story sucks and you’re a bad writer because I stupidly disagree about zombies being able to swim across the ocean,” even though in this story ZERO ZOMBIES SWIM ACROSS THE OCEAN, and I’m only talking about what would be possible in response to questions in the comments.

That’s how most of these arguments happen actually, based on things that never even happen in the comic, but retarded assholes are just looking for any possible reason to say I got something wrong and they love stating their insanely stupid shit as facts too (”zombies could not, in fact, swim across an ocean”). And you know what happens after that, right? Then other people lie and get pissed at me for being “mean to FANS who were only ASKING QUESTIONS.” It’s the stupidest shit ever, all lies.

  66. Rekcedien Says:

”zombies could not, in fact, swim across an ocean”

This statement amuses me. The subsequent ‘discussion’ that has followed is outright hilarious.

Bobby is writing this story. For anyone that does not get what that means, to put it simply he is creating this fictional world, and he is creating the fictional characters that populate it. It also means that Bobby, having created said world and said people to put in it, is also guiding us on a tale of their adventures.

All this being said, if in this world, there exists the possibility that TFZ can mind-control other zombies to swim across the Atlantic, then they can… This is a fact based on the laws and mechanics in THIS

  67. Rekcedien Says:

    …story
    (oops, hit the wrong button)

This story exists independantly and apart from other stories, and therefore what can and cant be done is defined by the story itself. Find me, within THIS story, or its background, any reference to the fact that it CANT be done, and then I will agree that your statement makes any sense.

However, since none exists, any of you saying that ‘this cant be done and that cant be done’ really need to get a clue. If you don’t like that zombies can swim across the ocean, or that vampires can survive in the daylight, then either suck it up and enjoy the story for what its CREATOR meant it to be, or, read another story.

    Thank you.

    Rekcedien

  68. Rekcedien Says:

Oh, one more thing (sorry for spam)…

    Great freakin story…

  69. Atm Says:

This not criticism, just a question, in the pile of zombies most seem to have heads attached to their bodies, arn’t the vampires decapitaing most zombies? (I know some are being killed via head shots.)

Great comic by the way, good work Bobby & Owen.

  70. Bobby Crosby Says:

“in the pile of zombies most seem to have heads attached to their bodies, arn’t the vampires decapitaing most zombies?”

This is very early in the fight when the vampires are mostly using guns, running through their ammo.  This is also just one small section of the pile and it’s right next to a guy who we see using a gun.  He probably killed most of those that we see.

  71. Cloudkeeper Says:

The movie, its going to be Anime styled, or with real actors and stuff? - anyways, looking forwards for it.

  72. Bobby Crosby Says:

    Real actors and stuff.

  73. Atm Says:

“This is very early in the fight when the vampires are mostly using guns, running through their ammo. This is also just one small section of the pile and it’s right next to a guy who we see using a gun. He probably killed most of those that we see.”

    Makes sense, Fair enough.

I am looking forward to the next page.

  74. RestlessParade Says:

I love your comic!! Keep up the good work and if I do say so….. Matt is SMEXY!!!!!!!!! I’d so claim him if he wasn’t already taken! XD

Oh yes, another fangirl’s lost fantasy! Zombies and vampires, PERFECT combination! I HEART Bram Stroker’s and Resident Evil’s work but I must say… Comic or in book form, I’d continue reading! I love the way you work with your shadows and details! It’s really wonderful!

I feel bad now because I didn’t post before but my friend was being evil and didn’t give me the link to the comic until you had about 60 pages up already and it like took me forever to read up to that point and whats funny was the fact that you were still updating as I was reading! XP

  75. Endless Says:

Art, in most zombie stories, animals instinivally avoid eating or even approaching zombies.

Also, in the second page we saw TFZ walk right past a shark with no incident.

  76. Endless Says:

    third page sorry.

Also, if every single zombie in the world appeared with lasers and anti gravity guns they had stolen for Bigfoot’s U.F.O.’s And then proceded to kill themselves whil;e singing tunes from Broadway’s Hairspray and Rent, I could explain why in two words.

Plot device Mr. Art, Plot device

  77. Sarge Says:

MMMM MM pile’o dead zombie (redundant i know) my favourite.

this comic just keeps getting better and better.

    great job bobby

  78. Dragon Says:

    Hello,
Great job on this comic. It is most likely the best zombie comic out there (and I have seen a lot). I really enjoy your style of art, and the storyline is very compeling. I have a question; when zombies rot to the point where they are almost all bones, can they still move around and function? There seem to be a few zombie silhouettes that are skellies.

  79. Dragon Says:

One more question - What does it take to stop a zombie? (sorry if this has been asked before)

  80. Bobby Crosby Says:

“when zombies rot to the point where they are almost all bones, can they still move around and function? There seem to be a few zombie silhouettes that are skellies.”

That was just a stylistic choice by Owen to have a lot of them look like skeletons. I told him from the start that it would be good if we could tell the zombies apart from the vampires and from the humans just by their silhouette, since it’s in black and white and we’re going to have large battle scenes where we see all three different types, and this is what he came up with, which works pretty well. The movie most likely won’t include any skeleton type zombies, or at least not many of them. To answer your question, it most likely takes decades in this story for the zombies to rot to the point where they can’t move properly anymore.

“What does it take to stop a zombie?”

Remove the head or destroy the brain.

  81. Zaldaran Says:

i just realized with a lot of the vamps using guns and swords everybody will have a pile of bodies and parts of bodies, but rage shall have his own head pile.

  82. Ro Guevara Says:

Is rage a vampire from the viking days, just asking. would be cool to know some background on some of the vampires. Anyways would be cool to see Rage unload on some Zombies using a war hammer or viking mace or something.

  83. Baldaian Says:

Rage mentioned wrestling earlier… i highly doubt that he was a viking wrestler.

Refer to http://www.lastblood.net/main/2007/10/24/page-88-the-old-switcheroo/ for him mentioning he used to be a wrestler

  84. Bobby Crosby Says:

Yeah, he was a professional wrestler in the ’80s. Download the books on WOWIO for more background info on some of the vampires.

  85. Kaze Says:

I just wanna say that I saw a zombie swim across the Ocean once…. cool shit man.

    o_0

  86. Nick Says:

    *Cries of Anguish*

    BOBBY!
I just noticed Mac is bleeding from his head. PLEASE tell us this is not from a bite!

  87. Jesse Says:

Mac was bitten on his head, but he’s just going to flex his skull muscles and spray the zombie virus back out.
Or, he’ll metabolize it to turn it into awesome.

  88. Lex Says:

The blood on Mac’s head is probably spray from the headshot in the 3rd panel.
Oh and that wasn’t actually a zombie swinning across the ocean. It was all a hoax. They had it tied to a boat.

  89. Lex Says:

Or it’s spray from somebody elses gunshot. Or sword swing. Or backwash from the axe on the return stroke. Or dropped from a zombie head that flew over the crowd after it was severed by a sword then roundhouse kicked through the air.

Anybody see Ozzy Osborne bite the head offa a zombie in that concert ? That was cool.

  90. Bobby Crosby Says:

“I just noticed Mac is bleeding from his head. PLEASE tell us this is not from a bite!”

Addison Payne recently said that he’d be covered in zombie blood soon. It’s just zombie blood.

  91. Arilean Says:

Ok, I’ve been reading this comic for long enough, I figure I should finaly comment. And there is nothing better to prompt a comment than PILE O’ CORPSES.
Panel 4 is so much win! Yay zombie head flying through the air!

Also, Jesse, I’m pretty sure the girl in the dorm room next to me hates you right now as it is 1:49 am and I just had a very loud laughing fit.
“Mac was bitten on his head, but he’s just going to flex his skull muscles and spray the zombie virus back out.
Or, he’ll metabolize it to turn it into awesome.”
AGREED, this is because Mac is Great, he is MADE OF AWESOME.

Also, Bobby, I know it is kinda the whole point of this story to have an ending and stuff, but i should let you know that it makes me very sad that it is my favourite comic and will be ending :(

Anyways, rocking story, rocking art, Made of win and 1337 and awesome and such things!

  92. Bobby Crosby Says:

Thanks. If you want the story to continue, download the free issues on WOWIO (fourth issue just went up!) and buy the books (in stores or from this site). “Last Blood” is ripe for prequels and sequels.

  93. fjiekie Says:

“Then other people lie and get pissed at me for being “mean to FANS who were only ASKING QUESTIONS.” ”

youre just being honest, and you arent that mean :p

“Download the books on WOWIO for more background info on some of the vampires. ”
could you send me a copy of the books? i really want to have the background info.
im not from america (belgium in fact) and because of this i cant get anything from wowio.

  94. Matt Says:

Dude love the comic! Last Blood Rules! The art is amazing! The story is ‘teh r0xx0rs’ in its own way! Can’t wait to see how it unfolds :D

  95. Bombie Says:

I love the comic and this page in particular is great - you can see the artist is having fun with drawing Rage, I haven’t seen such gleeful bloodlust before.

I am not sure, however, that I understand your attitude to the medium, Bobby. You keep talking about the movie, as if the comic is merely an unfinished storyboard to serve as a basis for that flick. Why create such a great Comic but not believe in the advantages that graphic novels have as a medium in their own right (e.g. the freedom granted to the viewer who can peruse at his own speed). I don’t know if you have any real investor attached to the movie (I suspect not) but you would need a huge budget to make the film even remotely as kickass as the comic. Why not stick to the medium you seem to have an effortless talent for instead of creating a low-budget version of a great story that is destined to fall short of the original?

  96. KayRis Says:

    Amazing! Just amazing!

and is anyone else as amused as I am at the mormon commercial at the bottom of the page?

  97. Zaldaran Says:

the gym is going to have plenty of heads for a game of zombie ball later on. grady must be so excited!

  98. Slaine Says:

Eewww!!! Big pile of zombie orgy!!! Gross!!! Especially when Rage points to the pile talking about all the “fun” that was missed! >.

  99. Dro Says:

“also i’m curious whether that gun is actually called a MAC whatever because that would be pretty cool, grady shooting the zombie next to mac with a MAC. ha…”

Nope, it can’t be a MAC since MACs are submachine guns.

  100. Slaine Says:

Eeewww!!! Big pile of zombie orgy!!! Gross!!! Especially after Rage points to it and talks about all the “fun” that was missed!!! >.

  101. Dro Says:

    ocean:
“also i’m curious whether that gun is actually called a MAC whatever because that would be pretty cool, grady shooting the zombie next to mac with a MAC. ha…”

It isn’t a MAC, MACs (MAC-10 and MAC-11) are submachine guns.

    Bobby:
“Addison Payne recently said that he’d be covered in zombie blood soon. It’s just zombie blood. ”

Question: the zombie blood, would it infect him if its on him? (through the pores, kinda, or if he got some in his mouth or open wound)

  102. Slaine Says:

Ack! Sorry for the duplicate post! Stupid internet connection is causing errors. :(

  103. Kenny C. Says:

I’m gonna guess that no, Zombie Blood doesn’t infect you. With all the emphasis on biting, or even having a slight tooth scrape, I’d think that the infectious agent is carried in the Zombie’s saliva, or even possibly in the plaque on their gross, unbrushed teeth. Ooh, or maybe being a Zombie is really just the final stages of the gum disease Gingivitis!

  104. Summer Says:

I do not even want to imagine what the area must smell like with thousands upon thousands of zombies moving in. ;)

And yes, panel 6 looks a bit like a Mac submachine gun. While they are a fun class to shoot and pretty accurate at short ranges (at least the ones I have used were) it makes me think of a line from a guilty pleasure movie:
“Daddy would have gotten us Uzis.”

  105. Arilean Says:

I WOULD download it if i could. In about a second. Because how long it would actualy take is meaningless in comparison to the awesome of this comic. But alas, WOWIO does not love us non-americans.

  106. Owen Says:

The blood on Mac’s head is actually dried blood from when his truck crashed into the school. I figured he must have sustained some sort of injury, even with the airbag. There was lots of glass flying about and the impact was hard. April probably offered to bandage it up but Mac is too hardcore for that and just let it stop on it’s own. New page soon, feel under the weather lately but that won’t stop me for long. I just have to keep thinking WWMD (What would Mac do?).

  107. Ricky Says:

Wow the stupidity of some readers is actually quite amazing….

  108. Bobby Crosby Says:

“could you send me a copy of the books?”

As I’ve said a million times, all the WOWIO-exclusives will eventually be made available for free viewing on this site. Just gotta keep visiting to make sure you don’t miss them.

“Why create such a great Comic but not believe in the advantages that graphic novels have as a medium in their own right”

Comics don’t have any advantages over movies.

“e.g. the freedom granted to the viewer who can peruse at his own speed”

Thank you for proving my point. The one example you give is a clear cut case where films have an advantage over comics. You’ve never heard of the pause and rewind and slow motion buttons on DVD player remotes or what?

“but you would need a huge budget to make the film even remotely as kickass as the comic.”

    Totally disagree.

“Why not stick to the medium you seem to have an effortless talent for instead of creating a low-budget version of a great story that is destined to fall short of the original?”

#1: I’m at least a thousand times better at writing films than comics.
#2: Neither of us know what the budget will be, but even the lowest possible budget film would be a trillion times better than the comic.
#3: It’s very possible I’ll be selling the screenplay and then it will have a big budget, although I probably wouldn’t be directing in that case, of course. It’s also possible that I could raise millions of dollars for it.

“the zombie blood, would it infect him if its on him? (through the pores, kinda, or if he got some in his mouth or open wound)”

BITES ONLY. A zombie with no teeth is incapable of making zombies.

  109. Jesse Says:

Arilean: Thanks. I strive to make people laugh and/or hate me.

  110. Nigel Says:

At least Grady’s gotten rid of his miniature Air Arms S200T! wouldn’t kill many zombies with one of those..

  111. Nigel Says:

(referring to Page 51: Unawares. Wednesday, May 9th, 2007.

bet you thought no one would notice!)

  112. Austin W Says:

this is so awsome. if you hadnt pointed out that rage was a wrestler i wouldve thought he was a nordic viking, who plundered and killed until addison bit him and turned to a vamp.

  113. Islam Sharabash Says:

    Hey Bobby,

I think for the sake of clarity, in the movie, the fact that zombie turning is bites only should be mentioned. A lot of us assume (after viewing movies like 28 days later) that zombie blood is capable of turning. Or maybe it will just be understood in movie format?

  114. Bobby Crosby Says:

“Or maybe it will just be understood in movie format?”

Why would it need to be understood? It’s pointless to the story. There’s never a situation in the story where we need to know one way or the other.

  115. randomman Says:

yo if zombie blood got into an open wound, would that constitute infection?

  116. Bobby Crosby Says:

I just answered that two comments ago –

“The one example you give is a clear cut case where films have an advantage over comics. You’ve never heard of the pause and rewind and slow motion buttons on DVD player remotes or what?”

Already thinking of the “straight to DVD” scenario, heh?

  118. Bobby Crosby Says:

“Already thinking of the ’straight to DVD’ scenario, heh?”

If I make it myself, there would be little chance of a major theatrical release, but all movies end up on DVD anyway and movies in general are seen more on DVD than any other way.

  119. Kenny C. Says:

Alright, so suppose this mess all ends, and some surviving human is walking away from the school weeks later to get away from the stink of rotting zombie, and they trip over a severed leg and fall on a zombie tooth that’s been on the ground since they were approaching the school. Would he be infected, or would the, I don’t know, zombie tooth bacteria be dead by then?

  120. Bobby Crosby Says:

Gotta be a “living” zombie bite — head not removed, brain not destroyed.

  121. Zaldaran Says:

DVD or theater, I’m seeing this movie.

  122. Vib Says:

if it’s not on Bluray im gonna cry bobby, I swear it!

  123. Jerry Says:

First comment made. I’ve been following this story for a month or two. When i really got into it, I read most of the comic in one sitting. Granted, it’s not long but I hope that will be a compliment all on it’s own.
Favorite page(s): Either the page with Math killing Hitler or ADDISON FUCKING PAYNE!
At any rate, this is an awesome comic. Story is well done and without plot holes from what I’ve seen. Art by Owen is fantastic; the animation style is absolutely perfect for the tone and mood of the entire comic. Any sequels or prequels of this will also be followed.
And for what it’s worth: I’m terrified of zombies. I absolutely fucking hate them. Can’t play zombie games, can’t watch zombie movies, can’t read zombie books… The only reason why I can read this comic is its sheer quality.
    Please note: Not all of your readers are retarded dumb asses who can’t bother to read previous posts. :) I’m sure you have a lot of intelligent ones hiding from the stupidity. After all, stupidity and ignorance are contagious. Just look at how stupid zombies can be and fast that plague spreads. o_o;

  124. Jerry Says:

Please note: The afore post may be filled with tons of grammatical errors and missing words. This is due to an eight hour work shift and homework immediately after that. So where things don’t make sense, feel free to ask.

  125. fieldy409 Says:

but bobby, some of those removed head zombies looked alive…. but they are alive and cant zombify you?

you might wanna change that, cause i got an awesome mental picture of tfz ordering zombies to throw zombie heads at people.

  126. jon Says:

“That’s how most of these arguments happen actually, based on things that never even happen in the comic, but retarded assholes are just looking for any possible reason to say I got something wrong and they love stating their insanely stupid shit as facts too (”zombies could not, in fact, swim across an ocean”)”

Sorry for beinging it up i never ment it to be a huge argument i was just asking if they crossed the ocean to be there =[ people take fantasy far to seriusly.

  127. Bobby Crosby Says:

“some of those removed head zombies looked alive…. but they are alive and cant zombify you?”

The removed heads are dead and can’t do anything.

    “Sorry for beinging it up”

No problem — Art was the one who stated an incorrect thing as a fact

  128. Luposian Says:

I love the comic. I’m also looking forward to the movie. How far along are you, concerning the movie?

  129. Ifer Says:

    *purr*

    I LOVE Rage’s teeth.

  130. JT Cool Says:

Hmm. I know this idea may sound kind of stupid but maybe you can ask donations for the movie?

Don’t immediately right it off as a bad idea because one of the greatest movies “El Mariachi” was made with the budget of $7,000 which put most blackbusters to shame. Chances are you might be able to amass a large amount of money judging by your fan base.

  131. JT Cool Says:

Woah I meant Blockbusters!!! Major typo! I’m not a racist or anything I was just a bit groggy when I typed that!

  132. Altair Says:

“please hit the right blad head.”

    Lmao.

  133. Tegu Says:

THIS IS THE BEST PAGE SO FAR!

  134. Trilbydude Says:

    Or maybe he’s Khornate…

I’ll just call him harry the hammer! ^_^
