Page 107: Gotcha!

Saturday, December 1st, 2007

Finally we see who I consider to be the most important character in the Last Blood universe. (Well, other than Francis, of course, but he’s now a dead whiny little bitch.) He will almost certainly be the main star of the first sequel. Exciting!

  1. Anko Says:

This is gonna be the BEST SCENE IN THE MOVIE. I am shaking from the awesomeness of this page.

And it seems Jesse and Ek were right about Devian dropping a kid. So, yeah, that boy is an ungrateful jerk. Poor Devian. Flying on her could be so much fun and he goes ahead and ruins it. I bet he isn’t even grateful that Sullivan was there to save the day.

  2. Vicky Says:

    AWESOME! SECOND POST!

  3. Zaldaran Says:

damn sullivan is a big man/zombie. no wonder val turned him for the war

  4. Rena Says:

And here’s Sullivan to save the day (evidently, in more ways than one)! I like the expression on Math’s face– it is a combination of confusion and happiness.

But that stupid little boy better get a talking-to from his mother– if she’s alive, for that matter…

  5. Zachy T. Says:

    Great job.

Sullivan looks a lot better, not to mention a lot different, than I imagined him.

  6. Cat Says:

    *whistles*
Hello Sullivan, thank you for saving her. =D

Yeah, he looks a lot better than the WLB did as TFZ.

And Math’s just like “Wha…? Dun’ kill me, please…”

  7. Cicero Says:

So now Math is going, “WTF?” Yeah, I’d be thinking that too if I hadn’t been totally spoiled by the comments. (But its a good spoilage.)

    Awesome page, again.

    later,

  8. Zaldaran Says:

i like the one undamaged eye. gives him a much more human look. a lot friendlier than Francis.

  9. NamelessZombie Says:

First time posting, woot! Awesome way to end todays page, me and my friends love this zomic
(The fact we all own “The Zombie Survival Guide” has nothing to do with it >.> The invasion is coming

  10. NamelessZombie Says:

((BTW, had a brainstorm..anyone else think the song “The Thing I Hate” by Stabbing Westward would make the PERFECT song for the zombie battle scene? During the hard drum semi-solo, they could show the faces of Val, Math, WLB, AFP, ect ect as super fast flashes)

  11. icbm1987 Says:

    Heh, Sullivan is awesome.

(He reminds me slightly of Capt. America… now if only he had the shield. :P)

Also, I really love what you’ve done here Mr. Crosby, this storyline is very engaging and I look forward to every page.

  12. FreeFD Says:

Great job on Sullivan, he looks somewhat heroic, despite the rotting flesh and undead eye. >_>

  13. Anko Says:

“Sullivan looks a lot better, not to mention a lot different, than I imagined him.”

He looks similar to what I imagined him like. I actually drew him two weeks ago and now I looked at that drawing again I was surprised how close my version was to the truth.

On a totally unrelated subject, there will be no fan comic page this week before Friday at the earliest. So I made a little something to make up for that. On page 104 I asked Bobby this: “How would Francis react if April missed the heart and didn’t end up killing him?” to which he replied “He’d cry like a whiny little bitch and say “Boo hoo, I’m sad! Why is everybody always meanin’ on me?!” Erm, yeah, I drew a sketch of that at the time and made it look a lot better today. I’d say it’s half decent, but good for a laugh. I tried imitating Owen’s worn paper style to hide the lack of details. Link:

  14. Zaldaran Says:

when this comic hits movie form i gotta request Michael Clark Duncan as the big black vamp :) one of my favorite actors.

  15. Bobby Crosby Says:

    Anko: Love it, hilarious.

Zaldaran: Yeah, he’s great. Saw him up close during this year’s Hollywood Stars Game at Dodger Stadium. He’s giant.

  16. M.R.A.K. Says:

Woooooow, Sullivan Davis actualy looks nice ;)

Just what I needed before going to sleep. Great job, guys!

  17. Cat Says:

    http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a311/RayneKasper/SDimH.jpg

    Sullivan Davis is my hero.

  18. Cat Says:

    (Sorry for double post.)

    ^— I wanna make it a button/t-shirt.

  19. Owen Says:

    Love it Anko.

I like to think the look on Math’s face in the last panel is partially his sad realization that he is no longer the star of this story.
Sullivan is fun to draw, which is good because i miss drawing Addison and WLB.
It was Bobby’s idea to have the one vampire eye and the one zombie eye, which I thought was brilliant. Made me think of the terminator a bit, which is probably how sully got his Arnold-esque physique

  20. Cat Says:

“It was Bobby’s idea to have the one vampire eye and the one zombie eye, which I thought was brilliant. Made me think of the terminator a bit, which is probably how sully got his Arnold-esque physique”

Well, it makes sense. He looks the bit of the hero (which he essentially is); big and strong. And since he was such a star athletically, then it makes sense that he’s all Arnold-esque.

  21. wedge Says:

    well, certainly wasn’t expecting THAT.

  22. Dan Says:

He looks too comando/cool ….. idk on one side he looks awesome, but on the other too comando and shit like that

seems more of him is contact than francis

also why does the skin decade for a TFZ? it is not like he isn’t eternal living, so wouldn’t the skin not deteriorate?

  23. Vicky Says:

    umm, he is eternal living.

  24. purplepeopleeater Says:

    he moisturizes

  25. Grym Says:

    Dude. Sullivan Davis is BAD-ASS.

I can just imagine the scene in the movie, you just see Math dive, and then he’s on the ground, his arms outstretched, but empty! The camera backs off, panning around to see Sullivan. ‘Gotcha’

And also, anyone else notice that this comic is also labeled 106, along with the last one? Sorry if it’s been pointed out.

  26. Bobby Crosby Says:

Grym: Thanks, corrected. Can’t believe I missed that.  Must have been wishing it was 106 so I’d have an extra page to play with, which would be so nice, jeez.

  27. Jordite Says:

mmm…. Sullivan is hot, even all corpsified and gross he’s still one shiny guy

  28. Gabriel Says:

The best online comic in internet. Zombies, Vampires!!

Thanks Mr Crosby. and Anko for bringing this comic to life

  29. Zaldaran Says:

“also why does the skin decade for a TFZ? it is not like he isn’t eternal living, so wouldn’t the skin not deteriorate?”

    Dan,

any damage he takes during the 65 years he’s changing into a TFZ doesn’t heal. that’s why francis was kind of screwed up on half of his face (which i hope to see what happened in the sequel!)

  30. Keramos Says:

So, Jordite, where y’all come from it don’ count as necrophilia if’n all they’re still twitchin’?
    ;-)

  31. Jordite Says:

Good point Keramos… if WLB had done April like he was gonna, would that have been reverse necrophilia?

  32. Cat Says:

“Good point Keramos… if WLB had done April like he was gonna, would that have been reverse necrophilia?”

    ….Eeew…raep by zombie.

  33. Keramos Says:

Vivophilia…. “Heh, looks like we got a live one, boys!”

On the up side, you can be sure they only want you for your braiiins…

  34. Claen'tor Says:

    All I have to say:
    Fuck. Yes. Awesome.

    This be Claen’tor, signing off.

  35. Yin Says:

This page is pretty much awesome :| You see my problem here?

I probably missed something earlier. If so, I’m sorry. But please, set me straight.

  36. ivan Says:

Gotta say I like the look of Sullivan Davis in the 6th panel. You can really see how he maintained his compassion and humanity throughout the ordeal he went through. Superb Job on that concept Bobby, and same to you Owen for executing it so well.

  37. Arkus Says:

AWESOME. Sullivan looks way better then Francis. The dog tags were a nice touch.

  38. The Yukan Says:

Is it wrong that Sullivan Davis hs just knocked Math down to number 2 on my list?

    He’s like… Like… Like O’Neil from Stargate for me!

    AWESOME!

  39. Yin Says:

For some reason, entire paragraph of my issue disappeared. Maybe it was the face I made… Before the emoticon, I just wanted to say that I was really looking forward to see the entire scene in the movie. Then everything else I’m about to type. THEN the emoticon (but not the one that’s actually showing).

My problem is this: “Our mom” = the kids were brother and sister. Devian’s instructions were to take the youngest boy and girl and fly off with them. This was for the sake of preserving the human race, right? So… wouldn’t that eventually mean repopulating?

Sorry for the double post, but I didn’t know how to edit the original one or even how to delete it.

  40. Bobby Crosby Says:

“This was for the sake of preserving the human race, right? So… wouldn’t that eventually mean repopulating?”

No, not at all. I’ve said this in the comments a million times.  Also, she did not take the youngest boy and youngest girl.  We’ve seen younger.  There was no time to pick and choose.

  41. Yin Says:

I thought I was missing something. Thanks for correcting me. I’ve read a good amount of comments, but apparently not enough.

  42. The Yukan Says:

Mr. Crosby? Can I ask you a question?

Will we be seeing any fist through the mouth kind of zombie killing?

Like fist through the mouth and out the back of the head!

That would be an early Christmas for me.

I hope this isn’t double posting.

  43. Zac Says:

that kid looks like MM, figures he nearly got that girl killed.

  44. Bobby Crosby Says:

    Zac: Ha, funny.

Yukan: Sorry, no. (Well, 98% no.) Good idea for the sequel, though!

  45. The Yukan Says:

Oh well, thanks for answering my question, I appreciate that, and I really look forward to the sequel and hopefully seeing that. xD

  46. baldaian Says:

Bobby said (on the previous page i believe, and maybe elsewhere) that the youngest kids were brother and sister, and Addisons plan was not for repopulation. I dont remember if he said this or not, but I seem to recall that the purpose was to keep them away from WLB so he couldn’t kill all the humans, and then when Sullivan showed up, he would help break free the vampires again and survive off of the childrens blood hopefully, for at least a little while.

  47. Bobby Crosby Says:

The purpose was almost entirely just to SAVE A COUPLE KIDS’ LIVES AND POSSIBLY HAVE THEM LIVE A LOT LONGER, which I personally think is pretty damn important. No one else seems to think so, but I sure do.

The rest of the purpose was just for motivational purposes, to give the vampires hope that there is a plan in place and that they’re fighting for something real (but he couldn’t tell them about Sullivan — complicated).

Feel free to read Anko’s FAQ to see what the note actually says. She took that from a comment I made many pages ago. And if you can’t find the FAQ, control-F “FAQ” on this page!

  48. Tegu Says:

Out of curiosity, where did Sullivan sleep? WLB was undersea, which explains why he was so much more decayed than our new hero.

  49. XJPhoenix Says:

Bobby, Owen, again I find myself saying… Awesome. Simply awesome.

    Sully rocks.

I may be in with the ‘reads too much into a single panel’ crowd for saying this, but I wonder if Sullivan is in better physical condition because he isn’t an evil twisted person on the inside… Folks say ‘evil always tells’.

Anyone else notice Sullivan’s ‘voice’ (speech bubble) is the same tone/colours as everyone else’s?

Made me a happy man, with the new update and all.

    :)

  50. Bobby Crosby Says:

“Anyone else notice Sullivan’s ‘voice’ (speech bubble) is the same tone/colours as everyone else’s?”

Yeah, the white on black for Francis was to make him seem creepy/evil, the villain.

  51. Vicky Says:

Considering there are no plans of repopulating the world or of curing all the zombies, is there any plan of making humanity last far longer, at least through the sequel, such as in the sequel finding a way to cure zombies, or even create a more varied genome for humanity to reprosper?

(If not the human race is screwed, I guess)

  52. Klu Says:

Sorry if someone said this before, I might of missed it,

But is that a non aggressive zombie army behind Sullivan

are we going to see and battle of 1 zombie army vs another zombie army of epic proportions?

  53. Vicky Says:

Yeah, those are the three thousand zombies Sullivan converted.

  54. Bobby Crosby Says:

“Considering there are no plans of repopulating the world”

Uh, there are definitely plans to repopulate the world. Don’t know why you’d say otherwise. Weren’t any thoughts of successfully repopulating the world with just TWO PEOPLE, though, obviously. Read through past comments for more info, where I’ve addressed this a thousand times.  Addison’s case has the key to hopes for repopulation, but it wouldn’t have mattered at all in a situation where there were only two humans left.

  55. Crazy Artist Says:

pretty damn sweet, I must say. btw, I ordered Last Blood at my comic book store today. Keep it up!

  56. Crocen Says:

    haha i was all..
“hmm im bored ill go stare at last blood wishing there was an update!”
But guess what!? i didnbt have to stare i got to read it XD lol.
    anyway stupid little kids…
but hey good entrance for sullivan
he obviously cared much more about how he looked than WlB

  57. Crocen Says:

    oh Shiznit.
    lmfao.
just read the uhm..bad drawry thingy
all the zombies have machine guns
    I’s be scared shitless lol..

  58. WolfMan Says:

    Sullivan looks like a pimp.

  59. Carolyn Says:

I know he’s just shown up, but I like Sullivan already.

  60. baldaian Says:

In response to Bobby’s comment to say why I don’t really think its important to save just two children: I don’t know, I might not rate the two kids living for a possibly very long time as a very positive thing. Their quality of life would seem to be quite low, even if all of the zombies in the world were killed.

First, they would have to find out that their parents died, and then that they are the last two people in the entire world. On top of this, Devian would be continuously taking blood from one or both of them, even if it is in very small amounts it would probably be very trying for them while growing up (unless Devian decides to kill herself, or go through 65 years of torture to help them out when they are 65 years older…). Scavenging for food in a city possibly littered with dead bodies (either killed zombies, or people that committed suicide to get away from zombies) for survival, or finding some abandoned farm house someplace and growing their own food until they grow old and die.

And of course, if WLB had survived, then they would probably be constantly running from hordes of zombies. If WLB didnt survive, but some of his multiple billion zombies had survived, they would possibly randomly encounter zombies for a very long time. Not sure how active the zombies are when no one is controlling them, do they just stand still in the same spot until they smell a human, or do they walk around aimlessly until they find a person?

Anyways, i agree with the comment that it might have been for motivational purposes for the vampires, since most of Addison’s discussion seemed to be for mostly motivational purposes.

I’m sure that my personal views are deeply influencing my arguments, and someone that thinks that every single life is precious would probably deeply disagree with me, but this is what i think of the situation. The two kids would almost be better off as a zombie not suffering (assuming no other humans were living) rather than having to know they are the last humans. Also, since Devian was born a vampire, she might have difficulties raising the children if she had little experience with them.

Anyways, this is not meant to be argumentative, just explain why I don’t think that saving the two children so they could live and grow older was very useful. (Also, I have read Anko’s very good FAQ, as well as read a majority of Bobby’s comments, I just didn’t want to give away the exact message since it is easily found in the FAQ).

  61. Vicky Says:

“Uh, there are definitely plans to repopulate the world. Don’t know why you’d say otherwise. Weren’t any thoughts of successfully repopulating the world with just TWO PEOPLE, though, obviously. Read through past comments for more info, where I’ve addressed this a thousand times. Addison’s case has the key to hopes for repopulation, but it wouldn’t have mattered at all in a situation where there were only two humans left.”

Oh, I know repopulating the world with two people Adam and Eve style is impossible unless you have some form of genetic/scientific miracle up your sleeve, its not like that. I was just going under the impression that it was “thirty people and will just live out the rest of their lives till they die.” And the past comments talked about the cure for vampirism which was in AFP’s briefcase, so I didn’t make the connection there. The question wasn’t “how do you repopulate the world with two people”, thats too stupid, it was closer to “how do you repopulate the world with thirty people”.

But anyway, sorry for the more or less stupid question.

  62. achrin Says:

yep the little boy sure is starting out on the right foot there …..might as well take in a light snack for all that energy expended flying him to safety….probably going to blame her for dropping the girl totally ignoring his part…. movie bloopers scene “after playing one of the zombies the actor playing sullivan takes a bite out of the girl”,speaking of which due to his condition he gets his meals served in a bowl so as not to make anymore zombies ..i wonder if he sleeps and has a nightmare if his zombies will react to it and go on a rampage… april looks like a statue compared to maths speed and i am sure she is running for her life there, but still …

  63. PG Says:

I love how protective Math and the other vampires are of the humans. The concern on his face tryingto catch her is so unlike your vampire archetype. Love it. I can’t get away from the vampire-shepherd aspect. Gotta protect that little lamb if we want to have enough food thru the winter.

Awesome way to introduce Sully. Now, I wonder if all the Vampires know Sully from his vampire days during WWII? And do they all know he is one of the good guys?

    Can’t wait til Monday.

    PG

  64. Jeff Says:

Man, Sullivan looks AWESOME! Exactly like I would have pictured a well-liked army hero.

  65. Jeff Says:

Sorry for the second post but I just checked out the sketch. I can’t wait to see all those zombies shooting up the other zombies.

  66. Andrius Says:

I wonder what Sullivan must have felt when he was forced to kill initially to make his zombie swat team. He’s portrayed as a hero in the minds of the other characters and if that is in fact his mentality then killing his first few human must have been traumatizing.

  67. Kamatu Says:

Keramos: “On the up side, you can be sure they only want you for your braiiins…”

    Then some will be safe…….
    See: http://tmi-comic.com/index.php?strip_id=18

  68. Crazy Artist Says:

    Can’t you just envision it….
Math from panel 7: O rly?
Sullivan from Panel 6: Ya Rly
Falling Kid from Panel 5: NO WAI!

  69. Bobby Crosby Says:

“Now, I wonder if all the Vampires know Sully from his vampire days during WWII?”

None of them know. Only Val and Addison knew him, and Val never even knew he was turned into a vampire. Addison turned him into a vampire, at Sullivan’s request, just so he could go through the torture to try to stop his former friend. I’ve said all this in the comments before (around five pages ago).

“And do they all know he is one of the good guys?”

Well, he just caught a human girl and said “Gotcha!” so I think they probably know now. Pages 108 and 109 will answer these questions. First panel of 108 has Sullivan screaming an order and Math telling everyone to follow it.

  70. D.B. Says:

it’d be funny if the first panel was Sullivan taking a bite outta the girl

  71. Vib Says:

Haha! Love it! He actually looks like a hero!

  72. Hevaess Says:

If I was in this comic (which everyone is glad I am not) you would hear an obnoxious squealing right about now. Translated, it is:

    OHMYFOOKINGODITSGRANDPAZOMBIEMAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  73. Steve Says:

Cool. Who’s the guy in pannel six?

  74. Bobby Crosby Says:

Read the blog post under the comic.

  75. SEA Says:

The next few pages is gonna be epic…
    Love this comic !

  76. Micah Says:

Vicky: “‘The question wasn’t “how do you repopulate the world with two people”, thats too stupid, it was closer to “how do you repopulate the world with thirty people”. “‘ That has also been answered multiple times. Try googling it. It’s entirely possible (plus it’s more that thirty people with AFP’s vampire cure).

Dan: “He looks too comando/cool ….. idk on one side he looks awesome, but on the other too comando and shit like that”
How the fuck can he look “too commando”? He was in the military; he is a commando you tool. If I remember right he was still in the military when he was made a vampire, (sorry if that’s incorrect Bobby) so why wouldn’t he look commando?!
    Also it’s “decayed” not “decade” = “dec•ade (dÄ›k’ād’, dÄ›-kād’) Noun: A period of ten
    years.”
“seems more of him is contact than francis” What is that supposed to mean?

  77. Tegu Says:

I can just imagine the order.

“GET DOWN!!” followed by zombies blasting the oncoming mass.

    or

“Let’s do this!” followed by mass charge of zombies and vampires past humans into oncoming mass.

    or

something even better. That’s why Bobby is writing it and not me.

  78. SEA Says:

I just saw the mouse drawn MS Paint sketch of this page adn i realised the zombies behind him are carrying machine guns O_O
The next few pages is going to be epic indeed…

  79. Arilean Says:

“Thanks Mr Crosby. and Anko for bringing this comic to life”
    WTF WHAT ABOUT OWEN?

Also, this will be THE best moment EVER for anyone who hasn’t read the spoilers. Best movie twist aswell. Love it, this just gets better and better.

  80. Jordite Says:

So if Addison turned Sully, did Sully get AFP’s powers of being smart and uberawesome too? Or is there something else he got?

And I apologise in advance if you already answered this question.

  81. Blank Says:

I like Cigar-Smoking Zombie. He’s much cooler than Sullivan.

  82. Ek Says:

Heh, I figured that Dev would have dropped the kid(s) due to her lack of strength. But I laughed pretty hard at the little boy. I’m thinking.. damn straight. I’d hit a vampire a little to get back to my Mom and Dad.

Of course I wouldn’t want her to drop me either.. haha. Great page. Nice way to introduce the “good” Sullivan.

  83. Lydia Says:

Oh God, I would be pissed if that boy had to help restart the human race again. Lil’ dipshit. LET ME DOWN!! DROP ME INTO THE HORDE OF ZOMBIES!! WAAAH!!!

His mother didn’t beat him enough, clearly. =P

Interesting to see what Sullivan looks like, finally.

  84. PsychoP Says:

Now i understand why was Francis Murdo a WLB… Being company to someone who even after being turned into half-zombie X half-vampire looks this good. Hell i understand his inner pain. And that he was a fucking selfish dickhead fullfiled with hatred against everyone who ever stepped on his life as on dirty blanket. Honestly… His reasons for destroying the world are the ones of a hurted kid. Well… Awesome comic guys. Really like your work.

  85. ravenofpoe Says:

i don’t know how this will end but i was thinking maybe the vampires decide to take the antidote or at least the ones who can to cut back on the blood intake from the survivors; that i would rather go through the 65 years torture just so i wouldn’t have to die. i was thinking i wonder if any of the survivng vampires decide to do that? it’s just a thought nothing more.

  86. NoBody Says:

ok now I’m confused… let me get this straight

Sullivan underwent 65 years to become Schaemaic to stop Francis right?

If so, then I’m relieved that they got an ally by their side, though wasn’t expecting it from a Schaemaic.

First post, keep it up guys, love every bit of the comic here, humour, action, suspense, a bit of horror, love it! :)

  87. Lazarus Says:

I did a little google research on the ‘minimal viable human population’, and jeez there are a lot of conflicting answers. Overall the answers vary from 2 - 5000 but the answers that look the most researched are more in the 20-50 range.

I found this info about some history of Pitcarn island: “founding population of 28 people (15 men and 12 women of reproductive age) created a viable population, and reached population growth rates of 3%”

None of the articles I found posited the existance of immortal watchdogs. (most of it was about establishing off-world colonies, or spaceship populations)

  88. Jesse Says:

Crazy Artist: So, I reordered the panels so that the dialog you suggested would make chronological sense. The story it tells now is somewhat different, as a happy side-effect of that. “CATCH!”
    http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l320/Lasergoose/LOLastBloodpage106.jpg

  89. Matt Says:

Hmm… Sullivan Davis is awesome. A special kind of awesome. The kind of awesome that spawns factoids.

Most people have 46 chromosomes. Sullivan Davis has 72… And they’re all poisonous.

Sullivan Davis can shoot laser beams out of his eyes, but no opponent has every been worthy of it.

Sullivan Davis’s biceps have biceps. And those biceps are bigger than your thighs.

Anyway, I have a serious question. If Devian is the last living descendant of the first flying vampire, and the ability is passed on by inheritance, then that implies that the first flying vampire must have spontaneously gained the ability, right? So if I’m correct, then how often does such - let’s call it spontaneous mutation - occur? Is it only in born-vampires, or also in turned-vampires?

If that’s been asked before, I apologize. I did try googling it first, but didn’t find it.

Oh, and back on page 29. Math has the best damn pickup line in the history of the universe right there. “Actually, I did [kill Hitler], yeah. I still have the sword. Wanna see?”

  90. Anko Says:

““seems more of him is contact than francis” What is that supposed to mean? ”

It’s supposed to mean he isn’t as decayed as Francis, if you ask me.

“Thanks Mr Crosby. and Anko for bringing this comic to life”

Ummm… dude, I’m just a fan, I have nothing to do with making the comic.

“i would rather go through the 65 years torture just so i wouldn’t have to die.”

I think you would change your mind after two weeks.

“Sullivan underwent 65 years to become Schaemaic to stop Francis right?”

Yes. And you were actually quite close to spelling schaemiac correctly.

“Sullivan Davis can shoot laser beams out of his eyes, but no opponent has every been worthy of it.”

Hey, AFP could do that too!

  91. Track Says:

Does this mean that Sullivan killed a bunch of people as well? (Sullivan’s giant horde of zombies) Or that he can command them now that Francis is Dead (Probably, you never know).

  92. Bobby Crosby Says:

Had to kill a bunch of people, yes, but it was very obvious that they all would have been killed by Francis’s zombies if he didn’t kill them first and use them for good purposes instead of bad. And no, impossible to transfer control of zombies from one schaemiac to another (have said this about 30 times now). (That might change in a sequel and this is all I’ll say about that — just saying this here now so people won’t later say “Hey, you always said control couldn’t be transferred!” Sullivan certainly doesn’t know how to do it, though.)

  93. dinges Says:

“Does this mean that Sullivan killed a bunch of people as well? (Sullivan’s giant horde of zombies) Or that he can command them now that Francis is Dead (Probably, you never know).”

It’s been said before that Sullivan can’t control Francis’ zombies if I’m not mistaking

    great page btw :D

  94. Dr.Willy Says:

“Addison turned him into a vampire, at Sullivan’s request […]”
Oooo, does that mean that Sullivan is now like 75% Sullivan Fucking Davis? :)
I mean, did he inherit Addisons intelligence?

  95. Leon Twardy Says:

Heya, I’m really looking foward to re-reading this all again, but on a (scientificaly) abstracted note:

Devian should have been able to catch the girl very easily. Gravity would pull on both the small girl and herself in equal measures, so for the little girl to accelerate away from Devian is pretty dubious.

And, um, in the MSpaint sketch (which, you know, I think is a privaledge to read) the bit about “seeing Math’s shadow due to the camera not being overhead” - unless the camera is also the sole illumination for the scene, that’s pretty irrelevant.

Anyway, these points are really only relevant for people who care about physics, not for the straight up enjoyment of a surprisingly gripping comic.

    cheers cats.

  96. Leon Twardy Says:

Also, Bobby, you seem pretty cut about having to answer questions “a thousand times”.

Time for a FAQ maybe? Just for efficiency, and fans whipping themselves up into a fluff filled storm?

  97. tommygunner70 Says:

looks like a half vampire half zombie, i wander what he is going to do with that little girl…

or at least planning on doing…

  98. Bobby Crosby Says:

Um, wow. Control-F “FAQ” for starters, as I’ve already said on this same damn comments page, jeez. People like you are the reason I seem “pretty cut” about things — there’s a link to an FAQ on this very page and multiple mentions of it on this page and you’re telling me it’s time for an FAQ. I mean COME ON. Is this some sort of joke post where you’re intentionally acting like the stupidest person in the world or what?

“Devian should have been able to catch the girl very easily. Gravity would pull on both the small girl and herself in equal measures, so for the little girl to accelerate away from Devian is pretty dubious.”

LOL. That’s only if you don’t take into account the fact that Devian doesn’t want to drop BOTH THE GIRL AND THE BOY and lose them both to the zombies below. Devian chose not to fly down and catch up to the girl because she deemed it too great a risk, that the most likely scenario was that it would lead to the death of both children instead of just one. And she was having a hard enough time carrying them both.

“unless the camera is also the sole illumination for the scene”

    The moon is directly overhead.

  99. Kimmie Says:

Awesome page gentlemen! I found myself cheering on this one! Sullivan still looks and is a hero! :D

Was actually hoping Devian would drop the boy and then decide not to go after his sorry spoiled punk ass. :)

  100. Aaron Says:

I wonder why are you so bound to have 112 pages in total, Bobby? I hope it won’t have a negative effect on the story (finishing it with so few pages).

  101. Bobby Crosby Says:

Here’s one of the million times I’ve answered that –

    Google is my friend.

  102. Sim^moN Says:

Ugh!! I think I found the school building where the film would be shot. At least I think it is this building. Its the biggest building in the area (In Cresbard, South Dakota) and I dont have any confirmation about if its really a school. Im just suposing thats it. the coordinates are:
    45 10′22.83″N, 98 56′44.40″W

You should be able to easily locate it with google earth.

    Is it the school?

  103. Anko Says:

Yes, that is the school. Those are the exact coordinates.

There are more pictures of the school here: http://www.cresbardsd.com/school_building.htm

  104. Crazyjaybirdl Says:

Thanks Bobby and Owen for spending time even on the weekends to get a page up. Really appreciate the effort !

  105. Sim^moN Says:

    Anko:
Wow! Was it posted somwhere before? I took some time to find it by myself.
    Thanks for the link =D

  106. Bobby Crosby Says:

Was posted a million times before, even seen in the sketch for Page 77 that I linked to in the blog as usual –

    http://lastblood.net/page77sketch.JPG

  107. Anko Says:

Bobby, you just gave me an idea. When I have time, I’ll make a MS Paint sketch archive too.

  108. Anna Says:

one zombie eye, one vampire. props for the drawing, definitely. ^^. About time we got to meet Sullivan, and he seems pretty damn sweet! I’m not gonna ask any questions, I just gotta say, can’t WAIT until the next update. You guys all rock!

  109. Northstar Says:

Sally: Thank you for saving my life mister Zombie sir.

hehe sorry couldn’t resist that. That has to be the best intro for Sulliven you could have possibly written :D I eagerly await the next page.

  110. Bobby Crosby Says:

Anko: No need. So easy to just change the page number on the url. And hardly anyone even looks at the sketches anyway.

  111. Sim^moN Says:

Yay for me that I found it after digging through the first 41 pages. Shame on me that I forgot that I saw the sketch. The pictures seemed familiar.
Its cool seeing location of the story on the google pictures.

  112. Narfen Says:

Why was my first thought when I saw him…

    Duke Nukem - Zomebie style…

Just need the scantly clad stripper zombies and a pocketfull of money… and the scene is set..

  113. Anko Says:

It would be funny if Devian started cursing at the kid in Chinese.

“No need. So easy to just change the page number on the url. And hardly anyone even looks at the sketches anyway. ”

There is no need for the majority of the things I do. Think of it this way: more people would look at the sketches if I put links to them in the archive! I reluctantly admit that even I haven’t seen all the sketches and some people consider me the #1 fan. But on the other hand, I know that I certainly would look at all of them if the links to them were compiled somewhere.

  114. McGurker Says:

    And Math’s just like “OH SHIT!…waaaaaaaiiit a second…..”

  115. Davon Swift Says:

“when this comic hits movie form i gotta request Michael Clark Duncan as the big black vamp :) one of my favorite actors.”

    Will Smith :P

THis is my first post ’bout “Last Blood”. All I want to say is that it is AWESOME =D

  116. Anko Says:

Links to the sketches are up on the Archive page now, if anyone cares.

  117. Ren Says:

Will Smith as the big black vampire? I hate to say it, but he’s sorely lacking in the muscle department. Even if he beefed himself up with steroids he wouldn’t be able to pull it off. But his son could play the little black vampire that stabs out the chain gang’s eyes… what am I saying? Even his son would be too much of a “star” to even consider the movie. Darn shame if you ask me that they limit the movies they’ll present themselves in by the money it’ll take it. In any case, I have full confidence that Mr Crosby knows what he’s doing in the casting department.

And I agree with Anko, I would love to see all the sketches in one place. I only started reading about at comic 80-ish (saw the advert far earlier than that, however). The earlier pages I never got a chance to see the sketches, and I would honestly love to read the behind-the-scenes commentary. And just change the page number on the sketch? I will so be seeing them now. It honestly wouldn’t have been my first thought to do something so simple, but then I don’t normally look for patterns in the names of pictures. I’m also an idiot most of the time, can you tell? I thought so. .. And I am totally going to look now Anko.

I again want to profess my total adoration for Mr Crosby’s story writing skills and Mr Owen’s artistic abilities. Both of you are A triple pluses in my book.

  118. Javnm Says:

OMG this will be one of my favorite parts of the movie besides all the zombie killing :P, can’t wait for the next page!

  119. Jesse Says:

    Anko-
I’ll definitely be checking out the sketch archive that you made “when you had time” …which was immediately, apparently ;)
Dear crap, Anko, do you have a job/homework? I hope not, so you can devote your life to being a sort of “stationary roadie” for Bobby and Owen.

  120. Brellchild Says:

Damn nice entrance there Mr Sullivan. Glad to finally meet you.

  121. Jesse Says:

lol. Y’know, Bobby’s sketches are better than half of what gets put on Newgrounds.

  122. Wizard Says:

uh oh, zombie versus zombie. body parts flying everywhere.

  123. Anko Says:

“Dear crap, Anko, do you have a job/homework? I hope not, so you can devote your life to being a sort of “stationary roadie” for Bobby and Owen.”

Ha. Sadly, I do have homework, yes. Last Blood is my main excuse for not doing it. It’s a miracle I can keep my grades decent, especially considering I go to the “top school” in my country.

Not sure what exactly what you meant by me becoming a stationary roadie, but I do enjoy doing the Last Blood dirty work. So, if anyone has any more suggestions on something I should take on, let’s hear them.

  124. Jonathan Says:

Hey Bobby would you mind if I created a Forum for Last Blood, Marry me and and further projects you might make? You wouldn’t even have to join it would be more of a talk about it fan to fan kinda thing without the limits being topic to topic instead of Page to Page?

  125. Trinidad Says:

Just had a look at the sketchwork for this page. Machine gun-toting zombies… that’s just going to be SO awesome to see drawn. Always a pleasure to see these new pages go up.

  126. ThePrisoner Says:

    OMG WTF!!!

  127. NiamhBlack Says:

Sullivan reminds me of Duke from GI Joe. I’m kinda expecting a PSA now that he caught the little girl.

  128. Cdraz Says:

hey just started reading the comic realy good just asking when the movie coming out. cant read all the comments to find out.

  129. JT Cool Says:

Oh man the head on zombie clash shall be most epic.

The two zombie hordes just running at each other full speed then head oon smashing into each other.

  130. Vicky Says:

“Is this some sort of joke post where you’re intentionally acting like the stupidest person in the world or what?”

Bobby, let me tell you from experience one of the “Rules of the Vicky”: When you think you’ve hit the bottom of the barrel in terms of stupidity, somebody will blow your mind that same afternoon. My condolences on having to endure Mr. and Mrs. “Is there an FAQ?” and how can we forget, “When a zombie bites a human, does he become a zombie as well?”

BTW, that info on Pitcairn sounds real interesting. Im right now reading the WP article.

  131. Jaysburn Says:

JT, that’s not going to happen. At least, not fast. Read the comments or pain sketch, Sullivans zombies don’t need to run at them.

  132. Bobby Crosby Says:

Jonathan: Sure, make the forum, no problem.

  133. Jaysburn Says:

Also, it’s wicked that it will (or might) later be possible for one Shaemiac to control another’s zombies. I think the best way that that could work is if the Schaemiac from Bulgeria were still around, and knows how to do it… But can only take over ones that don’t have a leader?
That could make the war more interesting in a later graphic novel…
Just thinking out loud (or in type), but I think it would be cool.

  134. Jesse Says:

By the way, I haven’t said this already for some reason: this page is awesome. What a cool way to introduce Sullivan. I was kidding on the last page about one of the kids getting dropped, but not only was it true, it went in a direction I totally wasn’t expecting (I mean the page, not the kid–i was expecting the kid to go in a “down” direction if dropped).
And nice work, Owen, on Sullivan’s face. Besides the cool feature of the eyes (and props on that idea, Bobby), you made him look trustworthy, somehow, even as you can see his jawbone sticking out one side of his face. It doesn’t look like a grotesque zombie wound; it looks like an honorable battle scar. I’d vote for this guy for president of awesome (I’d prefer him to be a legislator of the US, more than president). Like someone said–very Terminator (T2, not evil Terminator).
    So, yeah. Nice work.

  135. Grym Says:

Isaac C. Singleton, Jr. should play the big black Vampire. Because.

  136. Bloodwrath Says:

That’s a good point actually, Sullivan doesn’t look as… freaky as Francis. Maybe it’s the lack of a bullet hole, I’m not sure, but he does look more friendly.

  137. Lert Says:

I bet I can come up with a question nobody asked yet:

If a human bites a Zombie, does the Z become human again ?

    Just kidding. :D

I read this webcomic religiously. I vote for it every day and I check the l33t ms-paint sketches religiously as well. Keep up the awesome work !

  138. Katy Says:

You know, I had a really profound and interesting question to ask - I’m certain it was something no one ever came up with before and asking it and gaining the answer would not only create a better understanding of this comic in general, but of the world that Bobby and Owen have created in toto. However, during the night I have forgotten it. So … *sigh* I’ll just take a quick Goggle to see if I can find the answer to my secondary question, and if not, I’ll just post it.

And this pack ROCKS! Sullivan is BUFF for a zombie - just awesomesauce(tm)!

  139. I_Am_Legion Says:

    # Grym Says:

Isaac C. Singleton, Jr. should play the big black Vampire. Because.

I was thinking Tony Todd. He plays a burly heavy relly well. Just look at The Rock or an The X-Files episode “Sleepless”.

  140. Hephaestos Says:

Samuel L. Jackson should play the big black vampire, dammit.
Other than that, great page, I’m looking forward to the next 6 pages…though I am somewhat wondering how you’ll be able to wrap everything up in 6 pages. Probably going to be a pretty open ending :-P
Anyway, hurray for both of the artist =)

  141. Erebr Says:

Moral of the story, being a rotten little kid and punching your savior gets your girlfriend-to-be an 80 ft drop to her death and a massive guilt trip.

  142. Jaysburn Says:

    Girlfriend-to-be?
    They’re brother and sister…

  143. Luke Says:

Firstly, fantastic comic as always! If only I didn’t spoil it for myself through reading all the comments! :(

    Now two questions:

Zombies can do anything they used to do when alive when Sullivan’s around. Does this mean the zombies with the guns had previously had experience with these guns (army, gang members, shooting club) or will Sullivan have to be “telling” every one of them how to use, aim and reload the guns?

Lastly, can a fat or obese zombie run as fast a skinny zombie? ie, a large amount of fat zombies at the back of the pack.

  144. Snake Says:

meh, machine guns are exactly hard to use, anyone who has seen a moive or played a game nos the basics, its the aiming that is hard. that and the recoil

woot still #1 at topwebcomics, by a long margin woot

  145. Bobby Crosby Says:

Out of any group of 3,000 adults in the world, how many do you think know how to fire guns? More than enough for his purposes. And not all of them will be using guns. Some are just carrying extra weapons and ammo and some have other weapons, like swords.

The fat zombies are slower, but they never get tired, can run at full speed for ages.

  146. Luke Says:

    Ok! Thanks :)

Fast reply, by the way! Didn’t expect that.

  147. Gabrielle Gossip Says:

If you were a kid and something like that were happening your one want and need would be Mommy. Mommy means safety, warmth, kind words, a hand to brush your tears away. If you were a child you would not want to be up in the air with some cold woman with fangs. It was only natural instinct. Something bad happens… Run to mommy.

  148. Nero Says:

    Holy ninja cows in space.

I never thought that I’d be saying this about a zombie, but Sullivan Davis is the hawtness! :)

Aaww, poor Math. Nobody wuvs you anymore. Just kidding, he’s still my favorite character! *hugs* *hugs*

This is funny, ’cause Sullivan has only been in 1 panel, and said 1 word. That’s just more proof of how totally awesome this comic is–people will love/hate characters immediatly sinc they’re such awesomely envisioned and presented.

Lovin’ Davis, can’t wait for the next page.
(And Devian TOTALLY should have dropped that boy. He’s the new WLB…)

  149. Bobby Crosby Says:

I don’t mind the boy at all. Maybe he’ll play a good role in the sequel (s).

  150. Jaysburn Says:

I just looked through the comic, quickly, and noticed that Sullivan’s one hand is decay…ified…
Didn’t notice that the first time through, and it’s pretty cool :P
Woulda sucked if it was really decayed. Just catch the girl and it gets knocked off.
I don’t care if he can heal it, it would be funny.
Also, I don’t know if this has been answered. I googled “Last Blood talk zombies” and nothing came up, so yeah:
Can Sullivan make zombies talk? Like… not talk as if they were still the same person, but could he make them say what he wants?
    It’d be pretty nifty.

  151. Bobby Crosby Says:

“Anything they could do as humans” certainly covers talking.

  152. John Smith Says:

Bobby, how soon do you think the next update will be?

  153. Endless Says:

    This is awesome.

Also, #1 on TWC nuce job.

(Bobby I know that you don’t really care, bbut it’s still an acomplishment)

  154. Jaysburn Says:

Well, yeah, but I’ve never seen one talk. Vocal cords arn’t that hard to decay a bit.
All of them decay, but even if their vocal cords decayed a little bit they wouldn’t be able to talk right.
I was just wondering if he could use his magical awesomeness to make them talk clearly.

  155. Bobby Crosby Says:

    “still an acomplishment”

“Pupkin” was also #1, so yeah, not that great an accomplishment. It is nice, though. Guessing it will end the month at #4, especially since most of the month will have no new pages.

“Bobby, how soon do you think the next update will be?”

It’s really a question for Owen. My guess is 75% chance of being up at some pont in the next eight hours, 24% chance of the next 28 hours, 1% chance of longer than 28 hours.

“Well, yeah, but I’ve never seen one talk.”

Francis and Sullivan decayed for 65 years and we’ve seen both of them talk already.  And Sullivan’s zombies were humans less than 10 days ago.

  156. Darkfalle Says:

I’ve been reading this comic since I think around page 30ish and it’s definitely on my top 5 list–which is something, since I read or have read around 30 web comics. Normally I don’t like to post on things, because I don’t feel like I really have a whole lot to add but this time… wow, great page!

I really look forward to the eventual movie and the hope that I will somehow have made it big enough at that point to be involved somehow. =)

  157. rawr Says:

    hell yes love this comic
Bobby do you think you fit in a zombie firing one of the machine guns and its arms fall of cause of the recoil and it has a really dumb look on its face?!?!!? itd be sweet :D

  158. rawr Says:

im sorry if you already answered this especially if it was on this page but where did sullivan sleep/turn into schaemiac?

  159. Bobby Crosby Says:

Said it several pages ago. He was searching the ocean floor for most of those two weeks of no blood before the insane hunger pains kicked in and paralyzed him. He was within 10 miles of Francis probably (EDIT: no, probably much farther, like 150 miles). You’ll see this near the end of the second graphic novel, hopefully under a year from now you’ll see that page.

  160. Cody Says:

since everyone is saying how much they love sullivan, I am going to change it up, and say how much i love the look of the second zombie behind sullivan and to the left.

he just bloody well rocks my world.

  161. Owen Says:

Page is about 75% drawn right now, I’m gonna nap for a couple hours and then finish it up. Needs about 5 more hours of work. So many zombies to draw. Very exhausting.

  162. Bobby Crosby Says:

    Cool, thanks.

Part of an e-mail I sent Owen yeserday –

    —————
It features two big panels of zombies — one where zombies are [spoiler removed] and one where the bad zombies are getting their [spoiler removed]! More panels than just that, but those two will be pretty big probably. Guessing probably an 8.5 in terms of the difficulty level.
    —————

That was before I fully wrote the page and drew the sketch. I’m now thinking it’s more like a 9 to 9.5. Definitely a tough one.

  163. Hephaestos Says:

Just one question…the voice-over bit a few pages ago, where it’s explained how he managed to pull off his world conquest, is written in white on black, like Francis talks. However, it’s spoken by Fucking Addison. Was this done on purpose (Addison was speaking in a gravelike voice because of the dire nature of the news or something), to make the text stand out better,…or was it just a visual thing?

    Cheers. Great comic still :-)

  164. Bobby Crosby Says:

Hephaestos — that was asked a million times in the comments for that page, of course. Here’s one of my comments from that page about it –

    ———————
“The confusion over who is talking probably comes from TFZ’s speech bubbles being white lettering on black bubble, while everyone else’s has typically been black letters on white.”

Not for captions. Most of the captions have been white on black, no matter who’s talking, including Payne himself 14 pages ago (last link below) . . .

    http://www.lastblood.net/main/2007/03/23/page-34-flight/

    http://www.lastblood.net/main/2007/04/23/page-44-timeline/

    http://www.lastblood.net/main/2007/07/08/page-63-getting-sick/

    http://www.lastblood.net/main/2007/10/20/page-87-one-last-fight/

That’s four different people talking in white on black, and I might be missing a couple. It will be more apparent when reading it all in one sitting in the printed graphic novel, as it was meant to be read.

  165. Caffine-Freak Says:

    Oh snap foo’!

  166. Dave Says:

Y’know, i hadnt commented until you just reconfirmed it, But why on earth does Sullivan look in even better shape than Francis was? At least Francis had the protection of a coffin. Sullivan would have been naked (figuratively speaking at first, then literally as natures little friends got to work) on the seafloor. Last i checked, there were a whole pile of scavengers down there that would have stripped a paralysed person to the bone, or at the very least mangled him pretty badly. I guess you could say he buried himself in the silt, but even so…

I understand the whole hero cant look ghastly thing, but seriously, he would look like shit.

  167. Bobby Crosby Says:

“But why on earth does Sullivan look in even better shape than Francis was?”

Becacuse Addison visited him every once in a while and kept him in decent condition in various ways — had some protective dome around him maybe. I said several pages ago that Addison would spend some time in the past 65 years looking for Francis, but he never found him — they actually weren’t all that close — must have got wrong info about where he was buried — were probably 150 miles away or more. All of this will be covered in the sequels.

  168. NiamhBlack Says:

While I love this comic, I really can’t wait until the sequels come out. I really enjoy how the different backstories and other information enrich the main story.

Is it just me or does Math look like Keanu Reeves in the last panel?

  169. Jane Kat Says:

omg you do such a great job with this comic. i loved it the first time i went through and have kept coming back never to be disappointed. keep up the great work :D

  170. Sim^moN Says:

    Nope… its just you ;)

  171. Micah Says:

“one where the bad zombies are getting their [spoiler removed]! ”

Bobby, I cracked up when I read that. I hope all the bad zombies get their spoilers removed! Damn zombies.

Sorry, it’s late, and I’m easily amused.

  172. Jon Pander Says:

Okay. I know this hasn’t been asked before, probably because it’s a stupid, stupid question. And mostly a moot point anyway.

If the case has the cure for vampirism, what would using it on Francis have done? (or using it on Sullivan, not that anyone would want to since he’s now probably humanity’s best chance of surviving)

Would it turn a schaemiac (see, I can spell it :) ) into a normal zombie? Or back into a human? Or into a dead, non-zombie corpse? Or nothing at all? I know that in the comic, Math had described the first zombie (a schaemiac - spelled it again!) as a ‘blood starved vampire’), which is why I was wondering.

Thanks in advance for the answer, and I only really had started reading the comic a week or so ago, though I’m already thoroughly addicted and I’m going to get the comic book version of it next time I go to the store. And if they don’t have it, I’ll request they stock it.

  173. NiamhBlack Says:

I could imagine him saying his trademark (and horribly acted) “Whoah,” while looking up at Sullivan…

    It sends me shivers…..blech @_@

  174. Bobby Crosby Says:

“I know this hasn’t been asked before”

99% sure it’s been asked already — probably less than three times, though, which is about 50 times less than most other questions. Answer is nothing happens.

“Math had described the first zombie as a ‘blood starved vampire’ ”

Yes, which is like describing himself as a former human — doesn’t make him a human. A schaemiac is a totally separate form of life.

  175. Arkus Says:

Well cause this page is gonna take 5 hours and Owen took a nap… I think I’ll go sleep and risk it for 6:00.

  176. Jon Pander Says:

Oh okay. Thanks for the answer. At least I didn’t ask a question that you’ve had to answer a -thousand- times :)

I actually have another question as well. I sort of remember you saying ‘Mac is super human’ in comments, though I’m not sure if you were joking or if you were serious.

    Arguments in favor of Superhuman:
He’s been able to do those ‘Mac Attack’ triple beheadings and impress big black vampire with his zombie-killin’. He goes solo into town for supplies only armed with an axe (and I guess a gun since he accidentally shoots Devian, though I’m not sure if maybe he just found it in town… need to reread that part of the comic). His truck rams into a wall and he survives - well enough to later take part in the hill-o-zombies battle. He survives -that- battle - all the vampires are chained, but he manages to not get chained (obviously because he’s not a vampire) but he also manages not to get bitten or killed.

Arguments in favor of normal human (strong for a human but nothing supernatural about it) and luckiest fighter ever:
The expression on his face when he was hiding behind the counter was a very human look of fear. After the hill-o-zombies battle, he was too exhausted to hold his axe anymore (though that still may put him in the superhuman range, since the vampires tired as well - allowing them to get chained). And when in town, Devian -did- have to save him because he was ABOUT to get eaten when he finally got overrun by zombies. And he probably would have gotten eaten if Grady hadnt shot that zombie who was coming up behind him in hill-o-zombie battle.

So here’s my question. May have been answered before but I havent been able to find it. Is he superhuman or a normal human? (By normal I mean his super-awesomeness is not a byproduct of anything supernatural or super-science-based, just good ol’ fashioned human survival instinct and skill) And if the answer would be too much of a spoiler, would any explanation about Mac’s abilities be coming in a sequel (or a prequel to show how he got so skilled)? I’m personally hoping he’s just human.

Thanks again. And I’d like to just say it’s so unusual and great that an author of a comic (or any story posted online or in book form) takes so much time to talk to his readers. I only stumbled on this because I liked reading Marry Me and saw the link a short while ago, and I don’t think I’ve ever read anything so engrossing. And Owen’s art is phenomenal. I also love how you post the MS Paint sketches with all the comments so we can see the creative process and interaction you and Owen have.

  177. Jon Pander Says:

I just realized with the truck crashing thing, it could have just been as simple as ‘he was wearing a seatbelt’ lol :) Still, Mac rules.
Yes, Math is a hitler killing awesomeness.
Yes, Sullivan is the schaemiac version of Ah-nold with all the coolness that entails.
But if Mac is a normal human, he’s the most awesome of them all. He’s… like Batman or something. :) Except instead of the utility belt, he has an axe :)

  178. Bobby Crosby Says:

Just a human, yeah, nothing “super” super, just the regular kind of human super, like Bo Jackson.   Mac knows.  It’s also probable that the zombies were on direct orders not to kill any humans during that big pile battle. It’s hard to properly obey such an order when it’s such a madhouse of a million bodies all around, though, and vampires right next to Mac and all around him. I’m sure TFZ was very impressed with Mac, but of course he’d never say that. I think the novelization of LB would be pretty cool, getting insights into the thoughts of the major characters. Lots going on there that can’t show up on screen.

  179. Nara Says:

omg Sullivan is the hottest dude in this comic!!! even though hes kinda half rotten….

  180. Szyronn Says:

I take a look at the sketches from time to time, it clarifies alot…so please keep the sketches[I am a bit buzy now so hopfully I didn’t misread that you[bobby] wanted to stop posting the sketches]

  181. SMWhannell Says:

Dang, I’m late on the up-keep of this page! Sullivan looks awesome, Owen, you did a good job. And I have a feeling Devian wants to just beat the crap outta the kid for hitting her. At least I would want to. Little butt …

Anyhow, great page and I can’t wait for the next one!!

  182. DocN Says:

    New stupid question:

TFZ thinks he can’t be killed. He allowed himself to be shot in the head “to see what happens”, may have seen April’s stake and paid it no mind ’cause he thought it couldn’t hurt him, etc.

But then says he’s going to kill the other vampires “after their torture ends”… in which case they’d be schaemiacs as well.

So how did TFZ intend to kill them? Or is that another of his “didn’t quite think this plan all the way through, did we?” moments? :)

    Doc.

  183. Bobby Crosby Says:

Doc, this was the first question asked in the comments on Page 104 –

    ANSWER.

  184. nastyman Says:

i feel really bad for the zombies sullivan has. because they are going to help save the vamps and humans, but then you cant just keep zombies around. you gotta get rid of them pretty quick id think.

  185. Arkus Says:

Yeah, I mean though they are saving them, they were still turned into zombies. Kinda of lose-lose situation for themselves. Turn into a zombie or just die. Also, thank god my school doesn’t block Last Blood.

  186. Alex B Says:

Well by the time Sullivan created his Zombie army of 3000 the world was already going completely to shit anyway. 3000 is nothing compared to the billions TFZ killed.

But with their deaths the human race will survive and continue.

Man 3000 zombies with Machine Guns, each of them under Sullivan control, each know to aim for the heads. While the other zombies outnumber them, they are stupid and care for only getting at the humans and will pay the Machine gun Sullivan zombies no mind…

    It’s a winning situation. :)

  187. Anko Says:

“because they are going to help save the vamps and humans, but then you cant just keep zombies around. you gotta get rid of them pretty quick id think.”

Why the hell would they want to get rid of a massive army that obeys their every command? It wouldn’t make any sense. There’s always millions of Francis’s zombies that the humans need protection from.

  188. FirstTimePoster Says:

I read a lot of comments about a movie of this comic, but I’ve never actually seen any external links to any real information. It this all mostly wishful thinking or is something already in the works for real with a real studio backing it? I’d be interested to see more info on an actual movie. Though I still think there are plot holes big enough to drive a truck through ;) not that that’s any different from any Hollywood movie these days.

  189. Alex B Says:

Bobby is sorting out the rights for the movie, among other things, if you read the comments on other pages he gives info here an there about it.

  190. Flux530 Says:

I have a few questions that I couldn’t find on Google: How come Francis and Davis both have one big glowing eye and how did Francis lose his left eye?

  191. Anko Says:

“Though I still think there are plot holes big enough to drive a truck through ;)”

I’m confused. What plot holes? I quote Wikipedia:
“A plot hole is a gap or inconsistency in a storyline that goes against the flow of logic established by the story’s plot. While many stories have unanswered questions, unlikely events or chance occurrences, a plot hole is one that is essential to the story’s outcome.”
I don’t really see any plot holes in Last Blood. Would you mind pointing them out?

  192. Hugh Says:

This is an awesome awesome page. Fantastic way to introduce Sullivan Davis.

“So, yeah, that boy is an ungrateful jerk. Poor Devian. Flying on her could be so much fun and he goes ahead and ruins it. I bet he isn’t even grateful that Sullivan was there to save the day.”

Anko, being 15 yourself, I guess you would not be too familiar with how very small children might react to that sort of situation. As the father of a 2 year old and a 4 year old, the way Bobby has that little boy reacting is completely believable. And yeah, I suspect he is NOT going to be too happy to have fallen into the hands of what may look like a monster to him.

Bobby, I have a theory that Francis had a vampire eye too, but that he hated vampires so much he ripped it out himself…. But I am probably wrong, since his eye was gone since the first page, and how would he have known that he had a vampire eye without a mirror?

I agree with another poster that Sullivan’s next words may be “GET DOWN!”

  193. Joseph Robinson Says:

    PURE AWESOME.

    I love Sullivans decomposing corpse.

And I don’t know if this has been asked before, but say if Sullivan got killed, would the zombies be released on the humans?
And how does a Schemiac control zombies. Is it psychic, or pheromones, or something else cool?

  194. Anko Says:

“Anko, being 15 yourself, I guess you would not be too familiar with how very small children might react to that sort of situation.”

I was actually just being sarcastic, I thought that was obvious. I’m sure that’s how most kids would react, since I have a young brother and cousin.

“I have a theory that Francis had a vampire eye too, but that he hated vampires so much he ripped it out himself….”

Bobby mentioned something along those lines to me yesterday, not sure how serious he was about it though.

“And I don’t know if this has been asked before, but say if Sullivan got killed, would the zombies be released on the humans?”

I’d think the same would happen as when Francis died, since they are BOTH SCHAEMIACS.

“Is it psychic, or pheromones, or something else cool?”

I quote my FAQ: A schaemiac controls zombies they made telepathically. It takes a concentrated effort to make them do difficult things and only the zombies close to the schaemiac’s immediate area can be controlled. To give exact instructions the schaemiac must be able to see the group before they follow his/her instructions, but thoughts that are more general can be sent without seeing them first.

  195. Cassie Says:

Absolutely stunning ending, reading this is making me anxious. I didn’t even know there was going to be a movie!! Darn, I’m out of date! I need to be well-informed more often…Can’t wait to see the next part.

    Vampires kick ass.

possible idea for what we see next. sorta. near the end.

  197. Szyronn Says:

haha yeah that would be cool, we will see :d

  198. DarkKnight412 Says:

I can see why April’s grandma and Val both picked Sully over Francis…he’s a big ol’ schaemiac stud! And he doesn’t appear to be the whiny type. I love it!

  199. Tegu Says:

I’d be curios to see why Val wanted to be with Francis forever in the first place.

Also, we now know that AFP turned Sullivan. If Val liked him so much, why didn’t she do it? Did AFP tell her no more boy toys or what? I know there won’t be room in this comic, but it would be a sweet flashback in a sequel. (Note I said a sequel, not the sequel. Really hoping you guys make all the /pre/sequels you have mentioned.)

  200. FirstTimePoster Says:

Inconsistencies in the story: Of course this is all my own opinion and you’ll surely disagree with me but here’s how I see it.

#1 Vampires appear to be completely kick ass, bad ass, insane fighters, yet are completely unable to save any other humans on the entire planet.

#2 Vampires are again bad ass and have a super insane sense of smell among other things, yet supposedly were completely oblivious to what was befalling mankind until it was to late to do anything about it. (As we’ve seen it’s really not that hard at all to kill schaemiacs.)

#3 Zombies don’t really have any special powers unless controlled by a master zombie and then can only do what they could do in real life. Yet in a matter of one month are able to completely take over and zombify the entire WORLD! (Impossible. Period.)

Those are probably the ones that stick out biggest off the top of my head, but I’m sure there are others. Again not sure this really matters since most films these days have huge plot holes and they still make a ton of money, just pointing out some of the inconsistencies I still see in the story.

  201. Jaysburn Says:

Reading this the first time through was awesome and suspensefull, since I began reading around the time that Mac came back.
But I just read through the comic again now, and without the suspense of waiting a day or so for the next comic, it seems to go by too fast. It took all of 1 minute for Francis to be introduced and die…

  202. Tegu Says:

FirstTimePoster: I’m gonna bet that since this is your first time posting, you haven’t read all of Bobby’s comment on how this happened. Or, maybe you just missed it when they explained it in the comic.

And if it’s so bad, then don’t read it. Problem solved.

  203. James Says:

    FirstTimePoster:

about #3: It really all depends on how well Francis had planned it. If strategically sound, a smaller force can completely take over a larger one (countless examples in history, just look it up.) And since he had, what, 65 YEARS to plan it all out, I’m pretty sure that he explored all loopholes in his plan.

About #1 and #2: Im just imagining that the sheer numbers of people in the world that were being infected and the small numbers of vamps in the world (note that AFP says that ALL the vampires were there, and they were able to fit in an elementary school gym), the vampires could not deal with every zombie. Also, they cant smell Francis, so it’d be pretty damn hard to find him.

    Thats what i think anyways.

  205. Snake Says:

for #3 there was also a nuclear war against the zombies, that tried to kill them and ended up killing tons of humans to.

    Pretty sure there was anyway

  206. FirstTimePoster Says:

Snake: Yes there was about 1 billion people died in a nuclear war, still there are around 5 billion zombies that’s an insane number of people to turn in one month, one year maybe I’d be ok with but one month to go from normal to so bad people are nuking each other to everyone’s a zombie is a bit much to swallow.

James: Actually it’s not my first time posting and I’ve read the explanations as to how Francis had done it and I just don’t buy it. IMO it’s completely totally 100%ly impossible to kill/zombieize everyone on Earth in one month. I just don’t see TFZ criss crossing the globe sniffing out every single human in the span on a single month. Shit he was underwater for 65 years it would take him a week just to figure out where he left his fucking car. Also if you read the FAQ most of the 65 years is spent in agony so I’m not sure he was doing much planning while he was at the bottom of the ocean in excruciating pain. Also there were 200 vampires on Earth when the outbreak started, seeing the ass kicking only about a dozen put on the zombies I would assume 150 or so vampires could dish out a massive ass kicking, they could have also turned a bunch of people thus increasing their numbers. The remaining 50 could have gathered up a bunch of humans and put them somewhere until the smoke cleared.
