Page 4: Let Me See
Thursday, January 24th, 2008This page reveals that the present day scenes will be in full color! I believe the next eight pages at least will be in color actually, but I’m not sure yet.

Oh my, the last panel is in FULL COLOR. I’m guessing lots of other people will also blatantly point that out.
I’m sure we all can’t wait to see more!
January 24th, 2008 at 5:28 pm
holy macro. Just wow. Its a standing ovation just for the transition.
January 24th, 2008 at 5:29 pm
awesome!!!!
daaaaammn u guys rlz!
perfect! cant say more…
January 24th, 2008 at 5:29 pm
Last panel is in color because that is present time, looking down at a dead A.F.P. with a stake in him and all chained up.
January 24th, 2008 at 5:35 pm
Sweet transition. Props
January 24th, 2008 at 5:35 pm
Agrees with Anko
Oh my gawd Color!
January 24th, 2008 at 6:02 pm
I just want to say that Owen did a particularly spectacular job in the last two panels. The color, while being nice, isn’t as important to me as the identical expressions on AFP’s face.
Bravo Owen. And to you Bobby, for your webcomic.
January 24th, 2008 at 6:14 pm
It just sent a shockwave, that sudden color. Rather nice transition!
Is this how the movie is planned to be as well?
January 24th, 2008 at 6:33 pm
The movie will be based on the first GN, not the second.
January 24th, 2008 at 6:33 pm
Beautiful coloring. I also like the transposition between panels five and six. Drawing parallels between Sofia and Sullivan (well, aside from the they’re-both-zombie-overlords one)?
January 24th, 2008 at 6:36 pm
“Rather nice transition! Is this how the movie is planned to be as well?”
Yes, for the second movie, which hopefully will be filmed eventually!
“Drawing parallels between Sofia and Sullivan (well, aside from the they’re-both-zombie-overlords one)?”
They’re both blonde too!
January 24th, 2008 at 6:46 pm
That was amazingly awesome. can’t wait for the next few pages
January 24th, 2008 at 7:45 pm
Wow, full colour, very nice!
I can’t wait to see more!
January 24th, 2008 at 8:01 pm
phenomenal job boys, gotta say love this comic.
(holy christ on cross color)
keep up the good work.
will we eventually see all of sofias face uncovered (possibly in the next post?)
January 24th, 2008 at 8:10 pm
Bobby and or Owen,
Great job so far. This is a damn fine start to GN2. And the color is amazing. Does Owen do the coloring, or do you guys have someone else doing it?
January 24th, 2008 at 8:12 pm
Owen does the coloring.
January 24th, 2008 at 8:13 pm
Color is all me. Glad you guys are liking it, I was afraid the reaction would be mostly negative. I can’t wait to do more.
January 24th, 2008 at 8:18 pm
Hey, is the rest of the comic going to be ALL color? Or only the present? Or something else? I don’t mind color, but I prefer black and white.
January 24th, 2008 at 8:20 pm
Uh, don’t answer me. i should have read the info. Just ignore what I said.
January 24th, 2008 at 8:20 pm
damn very nice.
So own how much longer does the color take, will it make the updates even farther apart.
Not complaining just curious
January 24th, 2008 at 8:22 pm
“will we eventually see all of sofias face uncovered (possibly in the next post?)”
Definitely not in the next post, but we will eventually see it, yes — not for at least 25 pages, possibly not for another 100 pages or so.
January 24th, 2008 at 8:25 pm
Wow
January 24th, 2008 at 8:27 pm
Oooh.
Also, wheres the bottom corner of the borders?
January 24th, 2008 at 8:28 pm
Holy shit, who broke Last Blood?
January 24th, 2008 at 8:29 pm
Nice post, i just have one thing to say, Owen, you have CRAZY eye for detail. Kudos. I kinda forgot Val was dead next to Addison but there’s a spot of her hair in the scene. Nice touch
January 24th, 2008 at 8:29 pm
“wheres the bottom corner of the borders?”
Going with black borders for color pages/panels in this GN. All black borders for the next page (and all color pages), as you’ll see.
January 24th, 2008 at 8:52 pm
I’m really like the colour (as everyone else stated). I just hope it doesn’t slow down production. I would hate to have to wait a few extra days than normal just to have colour, but I’m sure you two will get these out in a reasonable time-frame. You have so far!
January 24th, 2008 at 9:13 pm
I dunno… I know AFP is dead… But that stake looks a little off…
January 24th, 2008 at 9:50 pm
It took a second for me to realize it was an un-flashback, and during that timer I entertained the thought that Sophia’s face was so damn hideous that it scared colour into AFP…
January 24th, 2008 at 9:52 pm
OMG COLOUR YAY!
this colour is awesome yay for Owen putting in the extra time into this colouring.
The borders is gonna throw some people off with the black background Bobby maybe it should be changed or just have a divider line running on the edges of the comic so we can tell where the page ends to avoid confusion(it happens way too often here).
Yukan your right the stake whole is in the middle of his body yet the heart is off too the left. Bobby is his heart further over because he was born a vampire or does the wooden stake not have to go through the middle of the heart to kill them just cut/nick it
January 24th, 2008 at 10:00 pm
HOLY CRAP!
Color!
January 24th, 2008 at 10:00 pm
Woah dude nice work!
The colour gives it a much different feel, i’ll suspend judgement on whether it is awesome or not till i see more. Although it will make different characters stand out more, which is always fun.
January 24th, 2008 at 10:14 pm
“The borders is gonna throw some people off with the black background Bobby maybe it should be changed or just have a divider line running on the edges of the comic so we can tell where the page ends to avoid confusion(it happens way too often here).”
None of that makes any sense to me. What would possibly be confusing? Also, what matters most is the printed book, where there obviously wouldn’t be a problem with this in any way. But I don’t understand what your problem is with it online either. What’s confusing?
“Yukan your right the stake whole is in the middle of his body yet the heart is off too the left.”
It’s a common misconception that the heart is off to the left. The heart is in the middle of the chest –

January 24th, 2008 at 10:34 pm
terrific transition, well done bobby and owen!
January 24th, 2008 at 10:35 pm
Color shouldn’t take that much longer to do, all the heavy lifting is done in the shading stage. We’ll get up to a faster update sched soon I hope.
January 24th, 2008 at 10:41 pm
Owen:
The color is amazing. So amazing that it actually shocked me.
It was the punch line of this comic and that is saying something.
Seriously guys? This thing is amazing and I will be standing first in line when this movie comes out. Thank you so much for this thing
January 24th, 2008 at 11:17 pm
“HOLY CRAP!
Color!”
Took the words our of my mouth, hahah!
January 24th, 2008 at 11:39 pm
Kitey the heart is only tilted slightly towards the left. On XRay or other imaging, the cardiac silhouette appears greater on the left chest, leading to the idea that your heart is on the left. The bigger worry would be that it would be exceedingly difficult if not impossible for a wooden stake to pass through the manubrium (largest bone of the sternum), as it is positioned in the comic. However, that would be in a human, in real life, and this is a comic steeped in vampire lore. Seriously people, use your imaginations and your brains at the same time.
January 24th, 2008 at 11:57 pm
With every new page, you guys amaze me with your work even more.
Keep up the incredible job gentlemen.
January 25th, 2008 at 12:23 am
“None of that makes any sense to me. What would possibly be confusing? Also, what matters most is the printed book, where there obviously wouldn’t be a problem with this in any way. But I don’t understand what your problem is with it online either. What’s confusing?”
I assume Kitey refers to how the black border for the color panel matches the black background for the website itself. I guess it messes with his eyes. It doesn’t “sit on top” of the background like the other five panels do on their much lighter background. To me, the comic looks like 6 panels on a sheet of paper. The colored sixth panel is not on that sheet of paper, but I assume that is by design since it jumps back to the present. I rather like the way its broke off.
January 25th, 2008 at 12:46 am
Owen, I can’t imagine anyone’s reasons for having a negative reaction to the color. I could only ever be concerned if someone with less attention to detail was doing so, and “inking” over vital parts of the original illustration. Since that’s not the case (I’m actually curious what you use for your color), and there is still some black and white for old time’s sake (in more ways than one, I guess), anyone who complains is getting punched through the Internet. Unless they have wireless. I’m only a man.
January 25th, 2008 at 2:09 am
HAHA he’s probably thinking, “Shit.” Like waking up from a nice dream.
January 25th, 2008 at 3:08 am
I like this new addition. It will certainly add a new aspect to reading the comic, with the shift between colour and b&w. I look forward to the next installment.
-This be Claen’tor, signing off.
January 25th, 2008 at 4:50 am
Am I the only one thinking that AFP isn’t REALLY dead? I mean, look at the stake, it is in the middle of his chest. Putting a stake in the middle of the chest would miss the heart by a few inches!
So is he really dead or just playing dead? Or just paraylized??
LONG LIVE AFP! AFP for KING!
January 25th, 2008 at 6:28 am
DD I’m addicted to this comic. I started reading it out of curiosity one dark night and before I knew it, I had reached the end of the comic, I couldn’t even get my ass off the chair to get some snacks, I had to keep reading… I loved the first part, very original vampire story, with very traditional things added. Characters are awesome, they’re personal. I loved little Jimmy, too bad he ended up like he did. But that was a part of the story that made a reader realize how horrible the zombies actually were.
keep it all up!
January 25th, 2008 at 7:31 am
owen, nice job man. i’m an artist too (graphic & illustrator) and i love your perspective. the scenes are so well played out with so few frames. hte colors are great too. not too out there or in your face but tasteful. whats your medium? do you do these all by hand or is there any photoshopping involved for color?
great work man.
-Mike

Her face magically makes everything colourful and proper o:
January 25th, 2008 at 9:27 am
Dios Santo!
As a question here, if a bor vampire becomes a Schaemiac and drinks the cure, would it have no effect or it would return to vampirism?
January 25th, 2008 at 9:46 am
He has said this many times before now, it will have no effect.
January 25th, 2008 at 10:05 am
I do not have words for how cool that is. Seriously, Bobby, Owen, you guys rule.
January 25th, 2008 at 11:00 am
You should call this “Next-to-Lastblood”
January 25th, 2008 at 11:44 am
“I assume Kitey refers to how the black border for the color panel matches the black background for the website itself.”
Obviously, but that doesn’t make anything in the comic confusing.
For the millionth time, Addison Payne is dead and he’s never ever coming back. He’ll be in many of the flashbacks in this GN, though, so be happy for that!
January 25th, 2008 at 2:36 pm
Another page, and colour!!!
Great job, guys. Lovin’ it big-time!
(Plus, it scratched that monkey-on-my-back need for more of the Last Blood universe and all of it’s colourful characters!)
AP is gone, but his memory lives on. I’ll draw some flack by saying it, but it’s better that he stays dead. Yes, he was pretty damn cool; but if he were to suddenly pop back up, his tragic death & sacrifice would be cheapened somewhat.
BTW: Sofia is just damn cool.
January 25th, 2008 at 5:56 pm
Obligatory need to correct myself. The manubrium is not the largest bone of the sternum – that’s the gladiolus. I had been awake for like 72 hours when I wrote that and was basically delirious. Sorry for the mistake.
January 25th, 2008 at 7:19 pm
Yeah, jeez, Lucid. Like the manuthingie is the largest bone of the whatsit. And the gladiowhatever is just this little tiny thing! *forehead slap* What were you thinking?
…not really.
January 25th, 2008 at 10:09 pm
Color!!! Woot!!!
Nicely awesome yet again!
Later,
January 26th, 2008 at 3:10 am
Sorry that I misinformed people on the last page Bobby, I try not to do stuff like that. Though near the end of the last GN you said you didn’t know if you were going to have it work on zombies or not but that you were:
Bobby Crosby Says:
December 8th, 2007 at 12:23 pm
“99.9% sure it wouldn’t work on Sullivan. Doubt I’d ever allow that.”
Obviously that leaves room for change, though I really thought I remembered you saying it wouldn’t work on schaemiacs, but I’m probably wrong.
Also, I don’t think you ever said in the spoilers that a cure had been made before, so AFP’s note saying, “I’m pretty sure it works” led me to believe it was a completely new invention of his solely to deal with the new TFZ, (which is why it wouldn’t seem to make sense in the flashback, me not realizing how long he took to make it.) You have since, of course, corrected all of my blatantly wrong assumptions. Just wanted you to know why I thought what I thought. I’ll try not to stick my foot in it again.
Also, the borders are fine, obviously.
January 26th, 2008 at 8:29 am
Not sure if anyone else noticed A.F.P’s glasses but i love how the change from one type to another reflecting the passage of time and all. Love the comic, and look forward to the movie
January 26th, 2008 at 10:23 am
I wonder why I suspectthat Addison felt something towards her… he doesn’t look quite indifferent to me
It’s good to know that the story will go in color from now on – that will make it even more immersive…
January 26th, 2008 at 10:40 am
Hey, long time reader, first time commentating. I’ve been a big fan of zombie stories for as long as I can remember. This webcomic delivers on so many fronts for the genre as a whole, that I don’t know where to begin. For me, what keeps me coming back is the writing. From the direction the story flows in, to the character development. It really grabs me to the point where I’m aching to see the next page just to see how things turn out. That’s a mark of genius and talent if ever there was one. I truly hope this does get made into a movie, so I can see it at the theatre the way all zombie flicks should be seen. In the pitch dark with a large tub of popcorn to be thrown about when one gets scared out of their wits. Ace work you guys, do keep it up.
January 26th, 2008 at 8:23 pm
first time i’ve noticed last blood is not colored D:
im blind
January 27th, 2008 at 7:32 am
New page wrapped and sent off. I’m pretty happy with it.
January 27th, 2008 at 8:04 am
WOW. I’ve been on vacations for the past two weeks and couldn’t wait to see the new comics. Just WOW.
Have AFP’s glasses red lenses or they are stained with his blood?
January 27th, 2008 at 12:30 pm
Looks like red lenses to me… and it is nice detail.
January 27th, 2008 at 1:40 pm
I must say it’s awesome!
January 27th, 2008 at 3:13 pm
Yeah, red lenses. My original plan was for his shirt to be red as well but then the blood couldn’t be seen so he went back to a more classic white shirt. Color is so much fun.
January 27th, 2008 at 4:24 pm
YAY new page!
You’ve gotten alot better at art since this Graphic novel began with issue 1, congrats Owen.
January 30th, 2008 at 9:55 am
Well, you could color his shirt red if you wanted, you know what they said about Napoleon. He would wear red clothes, so if the enemy injured him, they couldn’t know, giving him an edge in battle (at least psychologically)
Im so nerd
February 3rd, 2008 at 11:00 am
THIS IS THE BEST PAGE SO FAR!
March 10th, 2008 at 8:33 am
Whoo flashbacks FTW! And the colour, yummy. I was happy with the black and white, but colour’s a refreshing change. I was like, HOLY CRAP IT’S COLOUR. It startled me. (:
May 23rd, 2008 at 8:17 am
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES!!!!
COLOUR FOR THE FUCKING WIN!
June 3rd, 2008 at 5:31 pm
This must be Sofia.
